The Patagonia Atom Sling is a sling pack for traveling. The single strap is comfortable like a backpack, but with more convenient access to the items you have inside. The main compartment features internal pockets for organization, while the second pocket secures smaller items. The 3D spacer mesh at the backpanel and shoulder strap wicks moisture and dries quickly for all day comfort as you take on the city. If you're hitting the town on the old two-wheeler, strap on the waist belt for extra security and less movement. Your phone stays right where you can see it in the zippered strap pouch, making answering phone calls much faster. If your jacket doesn't quite fit inside with your other gear, use the outside straps to secure it to the outside of the pack and off you go.

Products on Sale are Discontinued Styles or Colors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! You know those days you just want to walk along the beach or hike near home or even shop along farmers markets or art fairs, well this bag is the perfect bag to take along. It is comfortable and so easy to carry without getting in the way, it's like you are carrying nothing and if fits all the essentials like water, sunglass, chapstick, wallet, snacks, a light change of clothes. I fell in love with this bag, it is for sure an outdoorsy girl's must have! You can go anywhere and now worry about loosing something in your pocket, carrying a large backpack, or a purse getting in the way and feel safe and free to be your active outdoor loving self!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sized-perfectly... I bought one of these for myself and liked the features so much, I bought three more for Christmas presents. I like a cross-body style as I like to have my hands free, however, most cross-body styles hang at the hip and move around too much. This is held along your back, and it has an optional strap to really hold it snug to the body. I can wear this and access the contents just by sliding it to my front, I never have to take it off....again, Pataginia quality and nice little features like a small outside pocket, and smaller inside compartment to keep your items separate of the main compartment...loops on the main strap for your sunglasses to hang...they make this in a larger size, but this will suit your needs all while looking sleek, not bulky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ain't no sling like a Patagonia sling! I wasn't totally sold on this pack when I first purchased it, but had a few friends that swore by it so I thought I would give it a try. Now that I've had it for a few months, I can't imagine living without it! It is my go-to bag when I'm headed out for a hike or just going out around town. It holds the perfect amount and never feels bulky. I often carry my wallet, large DSLR camera, chapstick, sunglasses in the large compartment. I clip a full sized Nalgene to the outside straps and tuck my phone in the small front pocket. I LOVE THIS PACK AND YOU WILL TOO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let's Be Real--Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner Alright, let's be real. I hate purses. I mean, I really HATE purses. So, I was looking for something that I can use while I'm running errands and traveling. This is it. I have traveled overseas with this bag and have absolutely loved it. When it was at its full capacity, I had a wallet, iPad, small Nalagene, a book, chapstick, passport, hat and gloves, etc. in the largest compartment with room to spare. I also fold up a Patagonia puffy jacket on the outside and clip to the outer clips like a sausage. While you are traveling, you want to have your items in front of you instead of the back and it is really easy to sling it around the front while still being hands-free. It fits more items than you think it would. One of my most favorite Patagonia purchases! Also- big plus, my boyfriend feels completely comfortable wearing it & likes it- so this is definitely a gender neutral product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good stuff Dear MooOOOsejaw, Thanks for making the purchase of a minor item such a big, funny deal. I have used this " motorcycle purse" as your representative, Taylor, accurately referred to it, several times. It successfully held the objects which were placed in it at the beginning of my ride and they were still there when I got home. That's pretty good considering our crime rate here in N.J. and my level of forgetfulness. The straps on the bag were very strappy and the zippers were quite zippy. I generally ride at or above the posted speed limit and I was able to easily adjust the straps for a comfortable and secure fit (prior to twisting the throttle). I also appreciated the old timey style Thank You note with free, complimentary, no cost sticker included free of charge and without cost or far. I love the madness. Mike

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nervous man seeks bag After months of watching my sister and friends swagger around with their Patagonia bags, I decided I'd give it a go! As a man, I was a little nervous about gettting a man-bag, but will never look back. I like to go on walks, but nothing in my bag has anything to do with that! I have dog treats, and my keys, and wallet in my bag at all times. I feel much more prepared. It recently came in very handy while sweating at the casino, one of my fellow Patagonia friends showed me how to roll and strap my sweater to my bag! It was like watching a miracle occur before my eyes. Needless to say I'm very happy with my atom 8L and would gladly recommend to anyone interested!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm In LOVE!! I have never been one to carry a purse or a big backpack anywhere. When I saw this pack I knew I was going to love it. It's just the perfect size. I can fit everything I could ever need in it, and then some. With the way the shoulder strap is situated, half the time I feel like I don't even have it on. Not only is it functional, but I think it's cute; plus I'm getting compliments on it all the time with women asking where they can buy one just like it. You CAN'T go wrong with this pack!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Day Bag I'm a male and I bought this to take some belongings around Disney World for three days as well as act as my airplane carry on item. It definitely did the job. Not big like a backpack, but bigger and manlier than a fanny pack. Very easy to stash under the seat in front of you on an airplane and still have leg room. It's also very easy to take on a roller coaster. I carried an iPad mini, a Thule camera case for my GoPro (although very very snug) and a few small odds and ends. I was able to squeeze a 16oz water bottle in there as well, but the iPad was out when I did. Tight, but it worked. You can put a standard magazine in it as well, but expect the top corner to be folded over to get it to fit. The strap pocket nicely held my iPhone 4S with an extremely slim case. I was always able to hear it ring and feel it vibrate in a loud theme park. It will not, however, hold my wife's iPhone 6 with a pretty slim case on it. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

Will this be able to fit a gopro pole that's 13.3 inches long x 5.7 inches wide?

Asked by: Jason
Thanks for the question! The Atom Sling has dimensions of 14.5 x 9.5 x 5.5. Might take a little maneuvering, but your GoPro pole should fit inside. Hope this helps!

Will the Patagonia Atom Sling hold an iPhone 6 in the cross-over strap?

Asked by: Scout
Hey there, The front pocket on this measures about 6" by 3" so it would be tight fit, but it may git an iPhone 6. It will not fit an iPhone 6 Plus.

Is this going to be big enough for my 2nd grader to use as a school back pack?

Asked by: Hannah123
Thanks for the question! This sling is pretty tiny in person - since it is only 8 liters. I do not think it will work as a school pack, because you will not be able to fit folders inside of it due to the tear-drop shape. I hope this helps a little!

Is the main pocket large enough to carry a laptop?

Asked by: Breezy
Hey Breezy, This sling would be big enough to fit some laptops. Very small laptops, though. The newest 12-inch Macbook, which is about 11x7.75", should fit. Tablets should fit as well. Anything bigger than that wouldn't work out though.

May I know if the waist straps are meant to carry some weight off the shoulder. I currently use a crossbody shoulder bag for everyday use and it is hurting my shoulder when I am mainly carrying my 8 in tablet, purse and credit cards.

Asked by: Jacklyn
Thanks for the question! The waist strap is designed for stability only. It will not take any weight off the shoulder. I would recommend going with a more traditional backpack. Hope this helps!

do you have to use the second around-the-waist strap while carrying this bag?

Asked by: kir13stomp
Thanks for the question! No, you do not have to use the waist-strap. It is just there for stability. It cannot be removed, however there is a pocket bag that he can be stuffed into. Hope this helps!
