The Patagonia Ascensionist 25L Pack is a lightweight pack for one-day ascents to the top of the mountain. A single main compartment provides plenty of space for your climbing gear, extra layers, and water with a simple, fast one-cord closing system. The lid pulls over top and shuts with a webbing strapfor additional weather-resistance and security for your gear. The thin and durable daisy chains reduce weight and provide lash points for additional gear and end in drop-through ice axe loops that secure your axes against the outside of the pack with bungee cords. The webbing-only waist belt is minimalist and removable to make room for a harness. Streamlined so you can make your way up the mountain and back without restriction.

FEATURES of the Patagonia Ascensionist 25L Pack

  • Adjustable ice axe loops offer a multitude of carry options
  • Daisy chains on front and side panels provide lashing options
  • Zippered pocket on lid provides easy access to small items
  • Streamlined shape keeps the pack out of the way while climbing with a harness and rack of gear

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect size Was looking for a bigger backpack for dayli climbing and the gym, I'm not disappointed at all. It can fit 2 climbing shoes, harness, chalk + chalk bag and you still have plenty of room. The extra space offered by the closing system is pretty good, specially for an helmet. I haven't try it during a rain so cannot say anything about it. One thing, pack wisely otherwise you're gonna feel everything on your back and this can be very unconfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crazy comfortable! This pack was amazeballs! I fit two sets of climbing shoes, harnesses, a 60 meter rope, AND 60 feet of webbing with ease, and was insanely comfortable to wear for all day searching for something to climb. Really simple design, but crazy efficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value! The Patagonia web-site has a helpful and accurate description video by Steve House Patagonia ambassador. I also searched the internet and found many independent reviews including a good one on “Climbing Gear Reviews”, June 11, 2014. The reviewer used the pack while climbing Eiger’s infamous North Face. So far, I have only used the pack to go to the climbing gym. The pack seems to be everything that Mr. House described; a wonderful pack that is light and well thought out. I was surprised how much you can carry in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soooooo light, yet does everything I need. I LOVE THIS PACK. I used a Camelback day pack in Europe recently and found that all the great compartments, zippers and features meant I was hauling a pack that weighed as much as the gear I had stowed inside. The Patagonia is minimalistic, yet has places for everything I need with ALMOST NO WEIGHT FROM THE PACK ITSELF. So light and comfortable that I have even forgotten I was wearing it, such as at an airline screening line where I nearly raced back to the ticketing desk thinking my pack was left behind - until i realized it was safely on my shoulder the whole time. Felt a bit dumb, but elated that my pack was so very comfortable. Finally, the great pack got even greater when I got a significant price match from Moosejaw customer service with ZERO hassle. Great experience and great item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True alpine pack This pack is for the true alpinist, no frills, no bling just totally functional super light weight alpine pack. This pack would be a bad choice if hauling on rock but for lighting fast accents where every ounce counts this is the right choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoughtful Design The pack is surprisingly light weight, and very minimalist. Only one pocket (on the top of the flap), so don't expect any internal organization pockets...there are none. Holds an amazing amount for the stated 25L capacity. The closure and lashing mechanism is quite ingenious...lets you overstuff the bag with minimal penalty, or under fill it and still compress the load. Removable hip belt is a nice touch, though I have yet to use it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from solid, ultralight summit/climbing pack My first impression upon receiving this was how durable the nylon felt. I thought she would be a little fragile but far from it. It's super light and packs into a larger pack quite well. I LOVE the spindrift collar lid, let's you oversuff, carry a rope, and doesn't flop around. there's no side cores sion straps which is okay but it can feel a little lopsided when you got a bunch of cams at the bottom. Overall I love the well thought out simplicity of the whole thing climbs very well compared to any other pack. 35l would hold more if you're winter alpine climbing if you bivvy but for summit in or done in a day the space would be superfluous and I'd rather have this.
