The Outdoor Research Women's Ferrosi Pants are softshell pants for standing up to the rigors of hiking and climbing. The Ferrosi is lightweight and breathable so you won’t overheat, while maintaining durability so you can scramble up rock, hike through tall grass, and climb over trees that have fallen across the path. The blend of nylon and spandex provides wind resistance while allowing plenty of stretch and movement. The durable water repellent finish provides water resistance in a light rain. A standard fit allows for plenty of space if you decide to add a base layer underneath. The drawstring at the waist keeps the pants up or add a belt to utilize the belt loops. Two front pockets with zippered back and thigh pockets secure smaller items to your person.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ferrosi Pants I got these pants hoping to use them on a backpacking trip in Peru. They seemed to have all the features I wanted. They were just too long! If I synched the bottom up they became kind of balloon-like around my ankle and it seemed clown-ish. The pants fit cute everywhere else but I just couldn't deal with how much material pooled down at my ankles. I'm 5'4" so maybe I need a shorter version?? disappointed - sent them back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super comfy So far I've used this pant for hiking and work. Its very comfortable. It stretches out a bit but has a waist that fits me well. It's also pretty light fabric, so great for summer/warm temps, maybe not for an extended alpine climb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them! Super comfortable and light-weight. Great for wet (water resistant-at least while new) and windy conditions (blocks wind surprisingly well). Also love the fact that they don't create static like other polyester fabrics do. I'm 5.6 and 128 lbs. and bough a size 4 long. I tried the regular length but they were too short for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are my go-to pant This is the 4th pair of these pants that I have purchased. I do trail work all summer and usually get 3 seasons out of a pair. I wear them on long walks around town, week long backpacking trips, rock climbing and bushwacking. That is quite impressive for a lightweight breathable pant. They fit me perfect. I am 5'8, 145 lbs and usually wear a 6. I ordered an 8 this time for my post baby summer. I've also gotten several friends to wear them and good reviews all around.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from didn't work for me OR styles are usually really nice great but difficult for me to fit into.. Too small or too large

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stoked to have more pant options for tall ladies! I received a complimentary pair of these to test for my blog, and was so excited to see Outdoor Research is making pants for taller ladies! I have so much trouble finding hiking pants that are long enough for me. I'm 5'9" tall and have long legs for my height. I'm generally a size 8 across the board, and that was the appropriate size for me. I was concerned at first because even with the long size, the pants hit an inch or so above the ground. But as I wore them, they stretched a bit, making them sit slightly lower and less tight on my thighs. They fit perfectly by the end of my first hike in them! There's a drawstring that doesn't seem to serve much purpose; it's barely long enough for me to tie, and there are belt loops if they start to sag that I'd be more likely to use. I generally don't like thigh pockets in hiking pants because they're too hard to access when I'm wearing a pack, and whatever I put in them bulges out and pushes against my leg when I'm walking uphill, so I'd rather have small cargo pockets with a zipper. I do like the back zippered pockets, though! Overall, for the price, I'm excited to get more in other colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would definitely buy these pants again. Pants are easy to wash and hang dry while traveling. Very comfortable. One drawback ; have had problems with back pocket ripping

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Right! THANK YOU for finally for making these with a long inseam! I have difficulty finding quality pants with a long inseam...the length on these is perfect (I usually wear a 33 1/2" inseam). These are extremely comfortable and very lightweight. I've not been able to test their durability as of yet, but so far they perform well on hikes and are dressy enough for casual wear or travel. Very comfortable and will be perfect for the hot desert summers. The adjustable hem has already proven quite useful as well.

i'm looking for a pant, that's not bulky, to keep me warm in DC in January (with thermals underneath.) For this reason, the wind resistance feature appealed to me. Will these work?

Asked by: bree
Hiya Bree, thanks for your question! This is a lightweight hiking and climbing pant so it won't keep you warm without a base layer. It will protect you from the wind and light rain, but it is technically not a winter pant. If you plan to layer it with thermals, you might want to consider sizing up. Have you seen the Prana Women's Lined Halle Pant? Is it a lined version of my favorite pant. (Just a suggestion!) You can check it out here: http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Prana-Women-s-Lined-Halle-Pant_10253591_10208_10000001_-1_ Hope this helps!

Do these pants sit below the waist?

Asked by: Robyn49
Hey there, Thanks for the question. These pants are constructed with a low profile waist to allow them to fit under a harness. I hope this helps.
