Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Hat I have a small head and the totally adjustable headband makes it a great fit. Also love that rain cover. The only thing I don't like is the fastener on the chin strap. It does not make the chin strap very secure. It needs a barrel squeeze one on it to make the hat stay on better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Update of Original Review So far I still have the hat and it still works like it should. My only suggestion is that there be a way to secure the rain cover to the hat (maybe some velcro or a few buttons?) as it doesn't seem secure in blowing rain and I'm constantly checking to make sure the cover is still there. Still functioning really well, holding up to the sun really well, too. Thinking of getting my mother one also!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Hat I have a very small head and finding a hat that fits is difficult. This hat with its velcro adjusting headband works great. I also love the rain cover that is included. I haven't had to use the rain cover yet but do agree with another review that it is hard to fold it up without it looking like a ball. I really do love this hat and my only recommendation would be to change the thing that is on the chin strap to one that is more stable. I took off the one that came with it and put on a barrel squeeze one and it really does stay on my head now even in the wind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, So good. I got this hat recently and am so far digging it. I must not have read the description enough because I didn't realize the rain cover was removable, but I like the idea of the feature. It fits well, so the sizing chart is quite accurate for this one in my experience. It's a little warm in the sun, even with ventilation, but such an essential that it's pretty easy to overlook as a person who burns easily. I live in a pretty sunny place and haven't had much rain use out of it at the moment, but in the light rain I've used it in, it's worked as it should. I like that you could essentially treat the rain cover with other rain gear using waterproofing treatment and you're not treating the full hat. The storage pocket for the rain cover is great, it doesn't fall out while you are wearing it. It seems a little bulky when it's stuffed in there and seems to weigh the back of the hat down a little, but you could really stuff it in a coat pocket as an alternative. However, now that I'm used to wearing it with a little bulk at the back, it's basically a non issue. It doesn't impede the view, either. So far, a solid purchase and I would recommend it for someone looking for a multi-purpose sombrero.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed/executed for its intended purpose As a rain hat, virtually useless; as a hat, satisfactory--but nothing to write home about. Monumentally dopey design in that the rain cover cannot be securely fastened on the hat, due to the fact that the cover is held on only by an elastic band around its edge, kind of like a shower cap that fits over the hat. The bottom line is that the cover blows off in fairly light winds--forget about the "driving rain" claim in the product description.,,,,I bought this hat specifically for trekking in the Ugandan/Rwandan rain forest, but the rain cover didn't even make it past the first day of my three-and-a-half week trip. Here's what happened . . . I decided to hike a bit around Lake Victoria after I arrived and during my meandering a blowing--certainly not "driving"--rain started, at which point the rain cover blew right off, clear into the middle of Lake Victoria, never to be seen again. Buyer beware!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good over all need some tweaks Sombrero w/ Pertexᆴ rain cover is a great hat that definitely keep the sun off. It does it's job. The rain cover works well and, also keeps the head warm in single and -0 degree weather. The few thinking I think that need to be tweaked are A) the mesh side panels need work they don't breath well unless in direct wind. B) The Pertexᆴ rain cover how do you refold in pocket with out it looking or feeling like a ball? instructions on how to refold to original shape would have been nice. Also, some sort fixture to attach the cover to the hat. In windy conditions and after placing cover on and so ware of the hat the cover wouldn't stay secured and had to use the hood of my coat to hold my cover on my hat in winter. C) The hat dose not was very well and sweat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hat, extremely versatile! The Outdoor Research Sunshower has been an extremely useful hat for my various outdoor activities. I wanted a hat that was both highly breathable for hiking under the California sun, and waterproof for those Rocky Mountain thuinderstorms. This hat handles both situations with aplomb, so long as you remember to pack the rain cover.',,,,Coming from an army-surplus cotton hat, I was shocked by just how well this hat breathes, with my head never getting sweaty, even under the sweltering Southern California sun for hours and hours. The brim is nice and wide all around (especially in the back) to keep the sun off.,,,,The rain cover works wonderfully, and I was very glad to have it while hiking through a sudden downpour in Great Basin National Park.,,,,I really have no complaints about the hat at this time. It's light, breathable or waterproof (depending on needs), looks good, and packs easily. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and breathable hat The had fits well and I forget it is on my head because it is so light. It is perfect for warm, sunny days because of the breathability. It comes with a rain cover which fits nicely over the hat. Although I have not used the rain cover, I'm sure it will come in handy some day.
