Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too Light Weight? I'm a little nervous as they seem more flimsy than I imagined. I rub insteps when I hike so I'm chrious to see how these gaiters hold up. They seem too tight around ankles but I don't want to judge too early.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps to keep crud out of your shoes I use these for hiking/backpacking with trail running shoes. I like these better than the Sparkplug gaiters since they have a cinch cord at the top to keep them in place. I did take them on a backpacking trip that ended up going through heavy brush in the Cascade Mountains and the center seam suffered some noticeable fraying. No other ill effects and they otherwise held together fine. I still give them 5 stars since they aren't meant for that sort of abuse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like them, but could use some improvements I like these gait alot, but would really like to see some minor improvements. The hooks are to small for most of my shoe strings and rather flimsy. After just a few snowshoeing hikes this winter one of the threads that attach one of the hooks has broken and the hook is about to come off. Would also like to see them come with a few more Velcro strips for multiple pairs of shoes. Also one size larger would be nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I Needed Bought a pair for the Polar Circle Marathon in Greenland. They stayed in place for 26 miles across the ice sheet and snow drifted roads. My feet stayed dry and warm and at the end of the race, the gaiters were just as I had put them on 5+hours earlier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Trail Gaiter These gaiters are nice and light and do everything right! The fabric is very light and breaths well while remaining sturdy and durable. The silicone patches are a bit of a gimmick in my opinion, I doubt that they will really protect against water that much but it doesn't hurt anything and its kinda cool looking. I like that they have a dray string to keep them up at the top so they don't fall down over the day and having an under foot loop option is nice. I use these with my Altra Sperior 2.0's and the Velcro patch on the heal works perfectly on the built in gaiter trap on them. All in all they do exactly what I want them to do without breaking the bank. Only time will tell how they hold up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Gaiter These gaiters are really nice. They are stretchy and can be used for running as well as hiking (they fit over hiking boots as long as they aren't too beefy). I've found they are a nice light alternative to bigger gaiters when you don't think you need that much protection. They do a great job of keeping the scree out when mountain running. A couple dislikes: the hooks are very small. Most laces have a bigger diameter than the hooks. I actually use safety pins sometimes. The Velcro in the back doesn't work super well if you don't have a good surface to stick it to. And the grommets for the instep lace don't seem super durable, but they have lasted me thus far. Overall though these are a really nice gaiter, as I would expect from OR!

Could these be attached high enough up on a hiking boot to work in keeping out trail debris & socks somewhat clean? Size 11 asolo powermatics. Any other lightweight recommendations? Thanks

Asked by: _Don
Thanks Alice, you're right these are a really good option. I went ahead and bought a pair and they work excellent with a couple of caveats. They work perfect over my boots keeping out rocks, dirt, etc, however i don't think they would stand up to heavy bushwacking (i think the lycra material would snag) and i don't think the velcro will stay attached in much snow use. Other than that they're perfect for my needs. I've worn out a pair of the Rocky Mtn low gaiters Alice recommended and they work well too, much heavier duty but twice the weight. Cheers!

It is not clear to me how they stay put. Is there a strap that goes under the sole? What size should I order for a 9 1/2 shoe? Thanks

Asked by: Walt
Hiya Walt, good questions! The gaiter attaches to the heel with velcro patches (included) and has hooks in the front. In addition, the gaiter has sewn-in eyelets, in case you want to attach a strap under the sole. I would recommend size large. Hope this helps!
