Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best glove for PNW I've been using Southback gloves at Crystal mountain for 6 years now. For the wet and heavy snow we get with often higher temps than seen in places like UT and CO its imperative to have goretex in your gloves. The amount of insulation is just enough for those days when it drops down to the teens. Cuffs fit perfectly under or over my jacket sleeves giving options how you want to layer. I ski\snowboard 150ish days a year and this is my goto glove for riding lifts or as my down hill glove in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good all around glove I have used these for both ice climbing and snowboarding here in the northeast and have to say they have worked well so far. I like the leather palms and the easy use of the cinches. I have relatively short, fat hands and usually take a large so I bought these in XL so I could get a liner underneath. Well, these barely fit with a thin liner so they seem to be sized a bit small. Glad I didn't get a large. I'm also a bit concerned about the material on the sides of the fingers, not sure how well it will hold up over time. Overall, I think they were a really good purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from $89 later...cold fingers I invested in these gloves based off of what I'd heard about the good quality of the brand and the fact that they were waterproof, made from good materials and hoping they would keep me warm and dry for several years. I purchased a slightly large size for a roomy, warm, fit...neither resulted. Although the build quality is good, the first mildly windy, winter day my fingers were cold. The gloves are rated for temperatures between 25F and -5F and yet at 30 degrees and below after only a few minutes of walking I can feel the chill start to seep in, wind or no. Additionally, in my case, the XL gloves are not large enough to accommodate a liner glove (with one, the fit is so tight it makes the hand even colder) and the idea of even purchasing a liner for warming in mild winter temps is just throwing good money after bad. Lesson learned, test before you take off the tags, I'd return the gloves if I still had those. The leather palm, Gor-tex, and windproofing are great, but if a $90 pair of gloves can't keep your hands warm in 20-30F degree temps, then really, what's the point of the other perks?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good customer survice I accidently got the wrong size. Customer survice helped me get them sent back and the right size glove came quickly. These gloves are great, I have already used them extensively for BC skiing and they are warm fairly dexterous and I love the leashes. They don't replace mittens I found out on those single digit or sub zero days but they are great gloves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice glove I bought them a month ago and am so happy I did. They fit me perfectly and are warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Live in a cold weather environment? TRY THESE!!!! Outdoor Research Southback gloves are pretty solid gloves. Here in Vermont when the weather gets down to -20 these gloves keep my hands nice and toasty. The leather palms keep a really good grip on things. They also feel like they are already broken in when you first put them on...pretty awesome. I would recommend these gloves to anyone who is wearing the gloves casually or is looking to go adventuring with them. They are extremely light and warm so they will fit the needs of anyone looking to go winter climbing, mountaineering or simply going for a walk in the woods.
