WINDSTOPPER fabrics utilize an ultra-light, ultra-thin membrane to block wind while allowing interior moisture vapor to escape. This will keep your body and your inner layers dry and comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK, but with flaws Pretty good but the brim blows upward in a breeze, greatly reducing protection from sun and precipitation. There is little to make it hold its position; it flops around quite easily. Best when there is no breeze, which greatly limits its usefulness. If the hat fits you with the ear flaps down, then it will be much too small when they are folded up inside the headband. If it fits you when they are folded up, it will be much too big when you fold them down. The ear flaps are thick enough to change the hat size radically when added to/subtracted from the headband area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this hat. A coworker recommended it to me because he has had the version without the earflaps for years. He tried this one out and wishes the had the flaps. I have only had this had for 3 months, but so far, I love it. I work outside and in the rain quite often and the noise and reduced visibility of hoods annoys me. No longer need the hood. I cannot recommend this hat enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I've had the Snoqualmie Sombrero for about 4 months. At first I thought it might look kind of dorky, but after wearing it in snowy, windy and rainy conditions I would say this is one of the best investments I've made in my outdoor gear. It keeps the rain off your head while not impairing your peripheral vision like the hood of your jacket does. The ear flaps are great when it is cold and windy. It might be too warm for summer hiking, but for winter hiking or hiking in the rain, it will always be with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps my head dry Went for a two day backpack in the rain in the Ventana Wilderness. I hiked 5 hours in and five hours out in the rain. Temps were in the mid forties-ish. I felt comfortable with it on, and did not over heat while hiking up and down steep trails. It was a lot better than the sil nylon hood on my Packa. the ear flaps came in handy because I took this instead of my usual beanie for warmth. If it rains I don't want to be with out it. It also kept my head dry while soaking in some thermal hot spring s naked, that was a bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Hat! I lived in Southeast Alaska for two years and this hat was a lifesaver. I used it mostly for kayaking and rafting, with temps between 40F-70F. It got a bit hot to have on when the temp went up, but you can easily fold the ear-flaps into the upper part of the hat, which is a great feature. I've used it in the pouring rain and in constant day-long steady rains, and this hat kept my head 100% dry and warm. This hat is perfect for any cold water/rain expected adventures. If you're looking for something to use primarily in warmer weather, I would look at the other models because this hat will be too warm. The only improvement I can see is adding a bug head net that zips into the brim, or stitching in some of that bug repellent fabric that's out these days. Overall A+.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Storm Rated Used on duty several years. Folds up and fits in duty coat pocket. Does not block periferal vision or sound. Easily ties snugly, won't blow off in wind, especially with earflaps down. Fleece lining is warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Coin. I wanted a hat that would shed the rain/snow and keep it out of my eyes while also keeping it off of my neck. I also wanted one with snaps instead of Velcro or magnets. This one had an added bonus, the ear flaps that can also fold up and be stowed away. At first I thought the price was a little steep, but I pulled the trigger anyway...and I am happy I did. This is the finest had I have owned. The construction is top-notch. I have worn it when it was up to 65 degrees outside and even though I perspired a little, I was glad to have it. I can't wait to use it in the extreme cold this winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all weather hat! Order shipped on time, received on time and better that; It is a great hat. I install satellite dishes for a living and this hat arrived one day before the great North East 2007 blizard. The snow, sleet and freezing rain ran off the hat like water off a duck. The only trouble I can see is that the hat is nicer than I expected and I'll be upset if I get it dirty!<BR>Duane
