Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all season glove system Thought I would try this glove system based on some on-line ultra-light backpacking discussion sites. Glad I did! This is a nice glove system consisting of nice tight fitting wool liners that will work for most cold/dry backpacking trips. The kicker for me was the separate waterproof outer shell that packs neatly into the top of each glove so that if you get caught in a rain/snow storm you bust out the shells and you now have nice warm, water proof gloves. Love'em!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pacific Crest Trail Thru-Hike with OR I love OR Gear and I purchased as much OR gear for my 5 month thru-hike of the PCT. Here's how this gear held up! Pros: enough insulation for cold mornings in high peaks. Very grippy when you need it. Cons: the zipper that holds the rain shells take up too much room within the glove, making it hard to put on at times. I don't want to think too much when my fingers are frozen, and to know that if I didn't fold up the rain covers properly and stored it inside, was not what I want in a pair of gloves. The solution: keep the covers out of the gloves and store them somewhere in the pack. I have large hands and they were still a little tight getting my fingers in. Overall, I would recommend these to someone looking to do a 5 month thruhike on the PCT

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile... Good gloves and true to their name, they are versatile. I have wide hands so they have a lot of extra fabric in the fingers... not quite the "fits like a glove" fit, also with the liners on they are a bit sloppy. I got these for trail running so its not so important that they fit perfect. They are warm and move moisture well, all around this is a good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost got it right I got these gloves for 3 season backpacking, to keep my hands warm and dry during cool nights and foul weather. I knew the shells weren't seam sealed, so I was prepared to do it myself. I don't mind doing it myself but, this really should be done at the manufacture. If they were factory seam sealed or taped, this would be a much better glove. I am not sure my OR doesn't do this. The seams are a major point of failure. The gloves shed water great, but instantly leak into the seams. Another feature that would make this glove better would be a cinch strap on the shell. I know they are trying to keep the weight down, but a cinch strap would hold a better seal. Other than that this is a good glove, for what it's intended for, lightweight 3 season glove.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good but not waterproof great concept but the shells are not seam sealed so they will get wet in sustained wet conditions. If this is not a dealbreaker, they are a good choice and very versatile. Good insurance against changing conditions for backpacking, fastpacking, trail running and ultrarunning in the mountains. I'd give 5 stars if they were seam sealed/waterproof, but as is 4 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great year round glove system these are my go to gloves year round. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so cold and a possibility or rain is the daily forecast. I bike, ski, and climb in this glove system, using the waterproof outershells when it's wet and stowing them in the provided pockets when its not. It has been great across the temperature ranges and conditions I see. They lasted me about two years before I wore them out. The seams on the outershells gave out a bit earlier than the fabric, so I'd appreciate it if future models overlapped the fabric at the seam a bit more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A great idea, but could use some improvement A great concept, no doubt. I used these gloves all fall and winter biking to work in our lovely Michigan weather. I'd also hoped that they'd function as a good hiking/backpacking glove, as my hands tend to get cold easily, and that just makes things miserable.,,,,The issues I've had: First, craftsmanship. Some of the stitching on my left glove was clearly poor. Some of the finger tips were oddly sewn, which I can feel on the inside of the glove. Not a huge deal, but noticeable. Second, after about 4 months of use, the pull tag at the wrist of one of my gloves snapped. I used them all the time because the gloves do fit quite snug-ly, but that's what they're supposed to be for, right? Third, finally, and most disappointingly, the waterproofing is such that rain beads on the surface, but as soon as actual contact with a wet object is made, the water-proofing is comprimised. So wiping freezing cold rain off my tent fly in the morning with a shammy? Freezing cold hands. Stink.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent all-around glove This glove system is all i need for most of the year. They are so lightweight, I bring them with me on every trip below snowline. The liner itself is warm and cuts the wind, but it's not so thick that it hinders my dexterity. And when the weather gets damp, as it usually does eventually at home in WA, it's nice to be able to bust out the shells and keep the liners, and my hands, dry. The elastic at the liner cuff deals out wind without the need for any cinching system, but it would be nice if there was a way to tighten the cuffs on the shells. And having the zip pocket on the liner that usually holds the shells is handy- you could throw a handwarmer pack in each pocket and easily push these gloves into colder conditions. I don't usually hike with handwarmers though, so I haven't had an opportunity to pull that trick off yet.
