Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice down jacket but runs small Outdoor Research makes fine products but for some reason their jackets all seem to run small. The Transcendent Hooded Down jacket specs say it's a 'regular' fit. I'm 60 years old and admit not as svelte as I used to be, but at 5'8" and 155-160# with no protruding gut, size Medium in most every other garment works for me. Not this jacket, could barely get it zipped up, very tight in the armpits and throughout, felt like a sausage and forget layering. I wound up having to return the jacket and get a Large. The Large fits comfortably, layers nicely over a fleece and not too baggy. The only problem is the sleeves are 2 inches too long so I'm folding the cuffs under for now but may get a tailor to see if they can adjust. Otherwise construction is excellent as you'd expect though some kind of fleece lining in the handwarmer pockets would have been nice.. Haven't been able to test it in cold weather as our New Year's deep freeze has thawed here in Texas but winter's not over yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mid layer or stand alone. Got both the hoody and the jacket. Awesome mid layers, great under a shell and awesome by itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Down Jacket for the Money This jacket is an awesome value for the money (I have used some significantly more expensive that haven't held up). I am constantly outside in the brush as a wildlife biologist and frequently abuse my clothing and gear. Having used this jacket for over a year, I can say that it is durable (only one micro tear on the bottom edge), warm, surprisingly wind resistant, packable, and lightweight. I purchased a XL (for reference I am 6'2" and a lean 185) and it is slightly big on me in the chest and stomach regions, which is by design for layering purposes. If I were to use this only around town (or not layering) I would purchase a L. Great job OR!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Impressed This is a very nice looking puffy with the Outdoor Research Infinite Guarantee, but like an Osprey backpack, it just didn't fit me all that well, and this puffy didn't keep me that warm. I didn't like how long this jacket was (but maybe you will like that about it), I wished the arms would have been more snug, the chest pocket kept my phone warm, but unlike what others have said, I wasn't warm. Even with two layers over it I wasn't warm enough. I prefer the fit (body, arms, hood, length) and warmth of an Arc'teryx Cerium LT hoody, but I prefer the price and warranty of the Outdoor Research. So back it goes. What I will buy next? Not even I know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best down hoody I own!!! This is the second Transcendent Jacket I've owned. The first wore out after about 3 years of continuous winter wear so I replaced it with another. I've gotta say this is my go to jacket in the winter and even though it's super light weight it is crazy warm. Recently the temp went down to -33C and although I was only out for about 3/4 of an hour walking the dog, I only had a regular cotton hoodie on and I was warm. I've had other jackets where the excessive baffles leaked cold air in but with this one they really hit the mark. I haven't felt any of these leaks in this bundle of warmth and will continue using it as my go to jacket for the winter up here in the great white north.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this jacket so much I bought one for my son! I bought this jacket for myself as the weather started turning cold this fall and I instantly fell in love with it. The Transcendent Hoody is everything I had hoped for and more. This is my first packable down jacket and the improvement over my older heavy down jacket was noticeable the first time I put it on. It is so exceptionally light that I was skeptical it would keep me warm during the very cold winter in the Northeast where I live. That has not proven to be the case as we endure the coldest month on record with temperatures below 15F for the past 10 days. DEFINITELY get the hooded version of this jacket. The hood adds surprising warmth and is convenient when a wool hat may not be handy or when the weather turns quickly colder or a wind kicks up. And as mom always said, you loose a tremendous amount of heat through your head so the hood increases the warming power of the jacket overall. Most of the time, I'm throwing it on to do chores, run errands or spend time in the car. I have not yet used it for a protracted time outdoors on a long adventure. It seems to have a very brought temperature range so I look forward to wearing it well into the spring. It is very packable and I'm already looking forward to stowing it in my carryon bag at the airport as I head to the Caribbean for two weeks in February. I loved the jacket so much that I bought a second one for my son and he loves it as well. Thanks, OR!
