Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rugged and comfy I am usually a large (I usaly need more shoulder space then what medium offers) but in this jacket the cut is ample. Slim people should consider downsizing a size. I am 5'10", 165 pounds and a large feel a bit baggy, maybe a medium would have been better. Try a size smaller if you can. Fit well whit the bolin shell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket, as advertised This jacket is great. On days where it's not supposed to rain I leave my rain shell behind and just take this. It is also warm and windproof. It very much functions as a hard shell in a soft shell form factor. I wish I would have bought the jacket a few years ago

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If you're after waterproofing and warmth, then this is it. I purchased this jacket as a winter upgrade from the Foray. I'm constantly walking in the Seattle rain and wanted one jacket that would keep me warm and dry. The jacket is stylish enough to wear over professional dress during the week, but also serves as a great piece of kit for getting your outdoors on. The temperature really needs to be below 40 degrees Farenheit if you're going to be moving around, otherwise it starts to get a bit toasty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome jacket! Just got this to replace my 15 year old Mountain Hardwear Mountain Tech jacket. Have had issues with arm length on new jackets. Wanted something wind-proof, water proof, with a fleece liner, and this hit all the right marks. Fit is more on the athletic side for my 5'11" 175lb frame, but comfortably so. Arm and torso length are perfect. Haven't had it out in the winter yet, but have stayed perfectly dry in the few rain storms I've gotten caught in. Water beads up and sheds right away. Fleece liner makes it comfortable with just a t-shirt in pretty cool temps. Was worried about not having pit zips, but so far has been extremely breathable. Can't wait to see what it can do in the winter when it really gets put to use!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LOVE the Previous versions, but not the latest revision. I currently own three of the previous versions of the Mithril jacket and love them all. The earliest version is a little looser fitting than the later versions but other than minor differences in pocket locations etc they are all very similar both in fit, appearance, and performance. Obviously I'm a fan, and I absolutely love the waterproof performance, durability and feel of the Ventia Dry™ fabric. I really think you get the best of both worlds in terms of hard shell vs soft shell with almost no compromise. My complaint is that the latest version of the jacket eliminated the inside pocket... REALLY?!? If I were to purchase one of the new versions (which I am not) my cell phone, iPod, or VHF radio would have to ride in the more exposed and colder outside chest pocket which just doesn't work, especially if using with a headset or earbuds. Additionally, OR changed the seams in the front upper chest area from a double horizontal straight-across-the-chest to the zipper line to an angled single seam that for whatever reason changes the fit (at least for me) in a negative way. Additionally, I'm not a fan of the angled chest pocket zipper as opposed to the previous vertical chest pocket. It's a shame that what was pretty much the perfect design got changed to a not-so-great design. Unfortunately, I see this a lot in the industry, I know the design team needs to do something, but I'm not sure how this got past any focus group if they were comparing the previous design to the current one. Moral of the story is if it ain't broke, don't fix it! The bottom line, is that this is still going to be a great jacket in terms of performance, but it is lacking in features & design compared to the previous versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome The guy who said this jacket is "not as warm as expected" needs to get himself a heavy down parka. Must be sitting on a porch in Alaska with just this shell and no layers or something. You're supposed to wear this while active, genius. When in motion, the shell is good with just a light baselayer down close to freezing, and after that, you just layer up like with any other non-insulated jacket. The jacket is breatheable, non restrictive due to the material's flexibility, and blocks both rain and wind as well as my aging NF Summit hardshell. My one complaint is the absence of ventilation; I'm now using this as my main winter ski shell in place of the (now retired) NF shell, but would be nice to be able to usr it in Spring corn powder as well. Make this jacket with pit zips, OR, and I'll buy another one tomorrow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mithril jacket Not as warm as expected. I am using the infinite warranty to get another one due to the exterior seam taping falling off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice but flawed I've had this jacket for two seasons and I love it. Just noticing that the seams are starting to peel away from the stitches. I'm not sure what the life expectancy is on seams but thought it would last longer.
