Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I've been searching for Honestly this is the jacket I've been dreaming of for years. 7+ years to be exact. I wanted a 3layer breathable fabric, waterproof zippers and the vislon for the main zipper. This jacket nails every key feature I could have asked for. It is light weight yet feels durable and ready to be used. The fit is trim and I'm 5'8" 160, so I went with a large and the large fits perfectly. This is quieter than most hardshells and honestly seems all around more desirable than Arc'teryx shells. Well it seems better than every other she'll I've researched and tried out. This is a knockout and you will not be disappointed if you get this shell. Nice job OR on making the best hard shell I've ever seen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted in a waterproof "active" shell. Finally a lightweight waterproof shell that fits my needs. This jacket is the direct competitor to its Gore-Tex brother, the "Optimizer" jacket. I originally purchased the "Optimizer;" however, returned it due to a few reasons. For anyone in the same boat as me, here is the direct comparison and why I decided to go with the "Interstellar" vs. the "Optimizer." Fit - the Interstellar has a much more "relaxed" fit, while still fitting trim. The Optimizer is not as relaxed due to the material used, and the sleeves on the Optimizer were much longer than they should be. Material - the Interstellar uses a softer material than the Optimizer. Optimizer's material was stiff and cardboard like, not very foldable or breathable. Interstellar uses a much softer and flexible material, it doesn't even feel like a waterproof hardshell, but it is (I tested it in a downpour). Weight and packability - Interstellar feels much lighter and is packable in its own pocket, something the Optimizer is not. The Optimizer's hood has a large wire-stiffened brim which is near impossible to pack in a small pocket. The Interstellar has a wire brim but much smaller and packable. Overall, the Interstellar is a minimalist waterproof layer that will perform without sweating you out and without feeling like a rain jacket. This is the perfect layer for active adventurers and for any outdoor activities where unexpected rain can appear. I live in Florida and this layer is perfect for the sub-tropical climate. Get this jacket over the Gore-Tex competitor, this feels like the superior product with OR's proprietary materials; therefore, it keeps the price lower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect balance between breathability and being waterproof This jacket keeps you dry in wet conditions and breaths when you are charging. I have found it perfect for alpine climbing for this reason and it packs down easily to fit in a small pack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nearly perfect garment I tend to sweat rather heavily when active and even the lightest of layers tends to compound this. Most "waterproof" layers are useless for me as I get them wet from the inside out, leaving the "waterproofing" useless. I was literally shocked the first time I used this jacket for an uphill skin and found that I never needed to take it off. The thing just plain breathes like no other waterproof garment I've ever experienced. That said, I still find myself asking, why not put pit zips on this jacket? We can't really be that worried about a couple grams of weight and pit zips would merely increase the versatility while also allowing for changes in fit based on under layers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took to Ireland...a perfect jacket This jacket was perfect for Ireland's wind and rain. It let me stay on the go outside in city and countryside. And its light weight meant I could keep it in my daypack and always have it when needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylin'Jacket for all weather adventures. Great daily all-weather jacket ready for wet, wind, cycling and hiking. Needed a rain jacket for my trip to Patagonia and this will be just right- packable, breathable, waterproof, and comfortable. Very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shell Great shell and great fit, I tested it's breath-ability with a run with only a short sleeve shirt underneath, and I did feel slightly clammy on the arms, but that was running for 4 miles. I think it will do the trick for my Back Country hikes and camping. Material seems durable, the fit is great and I love the flexibility, no restraint, allows for free movement. Looking forward to putting it to the test this summer in the High Sierra. Very light weight and pack-able. I'm 5'10 about 170 and the M fit's me right with just enough room. Should be okay with thinner mid layers like a fleece.
