The Outdoor Research Men's Foray Jacket is a packable rain shell designed for hiking and backpacking. Traversing through terrain where weather transitions in a tick depends on versatility, and this jacket delivers on that front. Thanks to its 2 layer GORE-TEX® Paclite® construction, this jacket is lightweight, waterproof, windproof and breathable. The durable 50D polyester plain weave has a comfortable next-to-skin feel, and its casual styling lends itself well to use around town. TorsoFlo™ side vents extend from pits to waist hem, providing efficient temperature control that's especially convenient for those wearing hipbelts or harnesses. Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 2nd foray, I love it! My first one I used for 5 years before it started to fall apart. It's a great jacket, I recommend a light weight polyester or fleece sweater to pair with it and you can easily with stand cold snowboarding conditions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome outdoor features and solid construction I got this for the holidays and truthfully couldn’t be happier. A lot of us on here know just how expensive a true hard shell can be and this has performed just as well for probably half the cost. One of the main reasons I like Moosejaw and outdoor research are their prices. I do enjoy the outdoors, but most of my outdoor gear gets used for work. I work in the tactical industry and have been using this for layering during my time on the ranges in this brutal cold/wind and it’s been a perfect outlayer. I cinch up the hood and cuffs over all my layers and don’t feel restricted at all. The fit on an athletic build Is also phenominal. Keep it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performed perfectly, exactly as needed Bought this for an extended paddling trip because I needed a new rain jacket. It kept all the water out, and worked as a fantastic outer shell when we were hit with colder weather. While not intended for insulating, it did a really good job at keeping me warm. 10/10 recommend this jacket. I'm 6'/ 170 lbs with broad shoulders and I got the large. It fit well, with plenty of room for base layers and warmer jackets underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OR>Arcteryx I recommend this jacket over the Arteryx Shell (Leaf). The past 4 years I have been wearing the Arteryx Shell and I must say the OR jacket beats it just by having pockets for your hands. The Arteryx Shell also started to wear down wear some of my equipment would rub- I chose OR because of their lifetime warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super jacket, but needs inside pockets Please add some interior pockets. I often need to carry light weight cool weather gloves, keys and a small wallet.

Can you please advise whether the Agate colour is basically a normal red, or is it really a scarlet, crimson or maroon type red? Thanks.

Asked by: craig
HIya Craig, thanks for your question! I asked all of my office mates and they all agree that the Agate color is dark red, like currant red. The zipper is more of a "true" red. I hope this helps!

I typically wear a medium size in most jackets, but will likely have a few layers on under this jacket. Would you recommend moving to a large size or is the medium roomy enough for a base layer and puffy jacket on under this jacket?

Asked by: Jason
Hiya Jason, thanks for your question! This jacket is designed for layering. You should be able to fit a base layer and fleece or puffy jacket underneath your normal size. Hope this helps!
