Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not working for me This is obviously a very meticulously designed article of clothing. It has high quality fabric, excellent fit, streamlined feel, and makes you look like a pro. The pockets, thumb holes and hood are all favorite features. I really wish I could figure out what it was good for. After watching the super-awesome and motivating video, I was stoked to go out for a 15 deg F run. My arms were really cold and my core was comfortable until about 30 minutes in. Then my core was overheating, and my arms were comfortable. Eventually, I had to unzip the whole thing to keep from overheating for the last 5 miles of my run (doesn't look so pro-like anymore). I kept trying this hoody on runs with different (or no) base layers, different cloud cover, wind, or temperature conditions, but could never find a case where I was glad I was wearing it. I originally found this by looking at the clothes intended for "cycling" on the website. It doesn't work well for that, either. If there's any wind whatsover, the arms aren't insulated enough, and the core too much so. I tried using it for ski touring as well. Paired with a shell if its windy, it was actually pretty nice, but I got annoyed at having the hood. I haven't tried this with low-intensity activity like hiking, but I suspect it may work nicely for that. Given the reviews, I'm definitely the odd one out, but whenever I'm wearing this, I'm daydreaming about my fleece or a light synthetic insulated jacket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stoked about this product This product was perfect for a cold weather 15degree high exertion activity. I was out for about an hour in this jacket and was comfortable the whole time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very versitile piece of gear. Get one Been using this mid layer for the last couple years and I finally bought a second one. This is my favorite mid layer when ski touring and backpacking. Its fairly warm for what it is and the hood makes it even more versatile. Full zip allows you to dump heat on the up easily and you can put the form fitting hood on to warm up if need be. The fabric on the body makes it slightly warmer than a standard mid layer and will even shed light precip for awhile. I'm 6'4" 185lb i went with a L. It fits pretty well but I wish the torso was a hair longer but thats probably not a problem for many people unless real tall. My only other complaint is that the ripstop fabric on the body is pretty fragile and will get holes and tares easily. But its kinda a trade off keeping the garment light weight and breathable. Overall great piece I'd say I ware it more than any other piece in the winter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maybe the best article of clothing ever created I bought my Deviator Hoody two years ago. I've probably put it on for some reason or other 350 of those 730 days. It is my go-to piece for just about everything. Not just for outdoor activities - but when I travel on airplanes etc. Maybe the best and most versatile piece of clothing in my entire wardrobe. You can use it for anything. The only time I couldn't see myself leaving the house with it is because I have to put a suit and tie on to meet with bankers. I'd wear it to a funeral or a wedding if my wife would let me get away with it. Which she wouldn't. Best thing is though - after so much use a hole got worn through the front side near the pocket. Maybe from where my backpack waist strap would rub while I used it as an outer layer. I let OR know, sent them a picture of the hole, and voila!, no questions asked a new one arrived at my doorstep. I love gear and clothing from OR. Their Infinite Guarantee rocks, and they honor their word. Recently purchased a White Room Jacket and Pants and can't wait to use them this winter in Colorado. I'd also recommend the Transition Hoody as well as the Foray Jacket. I own both and use regularly for different reasons. The Transition Hoody I will wear instead of the Deviator if I want a little more warmth in the arms, and the Foray if the weather calls for rain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite cold weather running piece This is my favorite cold weather running piece. I love the hood as it provides an extra layer of warmth as I begin my run. When things heat up, I whip it off and it lays comfortably on my back. Sometime hoods can be annoying with running gear, but not this one as it lays flat and stays relatively put while on my trail runs. Also great for hiking adventures. I plan to use it on the slopes this winter as well. The tags say to wash separately and line dry. However, so far I have had no problems washing with other clothes and tumble dry on low. Using this running requires frequent washes. Only feedback is that it fits snuggly through the chest. I am 5' 7" 155 lbs and sized up to a medium. I tend to be between small and medium in OR clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Ski Touring Jacket This jacket is a fantastic layering piece for high intensity activities like ski touring where temperatures require a light layer that offers some core protection. The thumb holes make for a great arm length and prevent the annoying gap between glove and layering system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Add this to your closet Have worn this once..... long ski tour... temps in single digits, winds in teens to 20's... needed to put a shell over it to cut the wind... otherwise was a great piece... wore a capilene 3 long sleeved tee shirt under it, with no wind, woulda been perfect layering to be warm while moving.... the wind blew right through the sleeves and back... the hood is also cut a little strange, narrow and tight around the eyes, loose on the chin... I have a fuller, rounder face, so this may not be an issue for all... I'm 5'9", about 180..., chest was snug, I'm usually a 42 with room to spare... sleeves were also a little long and snug..... overall I'm super happy... I think this is my go to touring piece as long as not too windy
