Rated 2 out of 5 by from Left with frozen fingers! I bought my Lucent heated gloves from REI but after a month of use and frozen fingers, I handed them back. I am a ski instructor in Alaska and suffer from Raynaud's - we can be teaching in temperatures ranging -30 to mid 30's. I am so used to having frozen hands that I had high expectations from the amazing reviews from customers that these gloves would help ease the pain of Raynaud's. I can be outside for hours and I do not have the luxury to warm up in between students. I would preheat the gloves before heading out on the slopes and from there onwards I would put them on high when on the lift and use the medium setting in between to save the battery life. The truth is that the gloves would warm up the back of my hands and my fingers would be constantly frozen and in pain. The low setting is pretty useless and you can't even tell that they are on. The gloves are well constructed and waterproof but they are quite bulky to use for ladies with very small hands especially when holding onto ski poles (you can't tell that you are actually gripping the pole) or helping students. The battery connectors would get loose occasionally and I would think that they went working but would realize that they had come apart and needed to be pushed back together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super gloves! I have Reynaud's Syndrome, which means that without gloves, circulation in my fingers starts to shut down just below 50 degrees F. I'm also a ski instructor, so I usually don't have the option of going into the lodge to warm up. With the Lucent gloves, I can get through the day in reasonable comfort. They aren't perfect -- I would appreciate more heat directed to the fingers. And Lance is right in his review -- heat on the palmar side would be better, but I think that might lead to a shorter life for the heat elements. I've been out skiing with temps in the teens. My fingers weren't warm, but they were still working right, and I was still skiing! As an instructor, I hang out with a lot of people who know equipment, and I've gotten a lot of positive comments about the gloves. If you need high heat, the battery life gets a bit short. I bought a spare set of batteries. I can report that a battery change on the lift is NOT an ordeal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great heated glove! These gloves are perfect for skiing on very cold days. I thought the heat was very well distributed and they keep my hands and fingers warm backcountry skiing on sub zero days. A recent mtn. bike crash resulted in me losing the tip of a finger. It is very susceptible to cold and these gloves kept the finger warm and comfortable. I bought a spare set of batteries so I could use high heat as much as necessary. However, even on the coldest days, I found I rarely used anything higher than the medium setting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Jury still out I bought these gloves early in the 2016/17 ski season. While the jury is still out on whether they will meet my needs in a heated glove, I have a few comments about the gloves. They fit very well and are well constructed. I like the super cinch gauntlet as I don't have to worry about losing the glove if I remove it on the lift. I also like the fact that the gloves are, without the heaters on, fairly warm naturally. I had hoped I wouldn't have to always use the heaters. I have found that I always want to recharge the batteries the night before I ski. I had relied on full charges completed a few days before I skied and been left with batteries that either don't have a charge or provide minimal heating and then poop out. I have not skied with them on a very cold day and had to use the high heat to see how well they work. I am a bit concerned that with only a 2.5 hour charge on high heat that they'll lose their charge before I do... When charging the batteries, I am sometimes confused by the changing from green to blinking red/green, etc. It's best to just charge them overnight. This will ensure a complete charge and you'll be ready to go in the morning. Thank you OR for the great gear you provide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifesaver on Cold Days I suffer from really cold hands when skiing and boarding. No idea why, but I haven't been able to find gloves that do the job until now. Well insulated gloves (and even Mitts) don't do the trick because they only capture heat -- which my hands just don't generate. These gloves did the trick over the recent holiday weekend in Northern Michigan. Temps in the mid-20's (F) only required the "low" heat setting but they kept my fingers warm all day. I'm guessing teens and single digits will require cycling the temp from the "low" setting up to "medium" periodically, but I think they will still last 6+ hours. Really satisfied with the product so far. No connection issues or "bumping the button" issues like I've read from other reviewers. Best Christmas gift ever!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I live outside of North Pole, AK. I bought my first pair last fall to have something to warm to wear when playing outside with the dogs. I had to return that pair (to REI) within a couple of weeks. The heat will not stay on. I bought another pair in December (from REI) and after two month of use, the heat will no longer stay on. For $350 I shouldn't have to go through series of items to trouble shoot the problem,. Nor, should I have to recharge the batteries haver every half hour of use. For $350 I would expect something that would stay charge for at least an hour or two. I will be returning these gloves to REI and looking for another brand. DO NOT buy these gloves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Gloves Like some other reviewers my hands have been very cold sensitive over the last few years. These gloves let me get outside in the winter with comfort. I agree that is would be nice to have heat over the palmar side of the gloves as that side of my fingers will get cold when gripping poles. Sometimes the battery will pull away from the connector after taking the gloves off and putting them on so some sort of clip to hold those together would be nice. I carry extra batteries for long outings, and I still use glove liners to boost the heat. I have tried other battery powered gloves and these are by far the best out there. Great work OR.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gloves I wear these gloves to commute to work on a motorcycle in subfreezing temperatures. The wind chill has to be off the charts since I do not have hand guards. My hands have never gotten cold. On longer rides wearing regular gloves my hands get cold after a couple of miles when temperatures are in the 40's. But not with these gloves, which are top notch although not designed for this use per se. For me the improvement would be better knuckle protection like that in the Piledriver.

what size glove for a medium woman's hand

Asked by: bubba47
Hiya bubba47, thanks for your question! I would recommend either size X-Small or Small. The measurements for the X-Small is 6.5 - 7.25 inches (circumference) and 6.5 - 7.25 inches (length) and the Small measures 7.25 - 8 inches (circumference) and 7.25 - 8 inches inches (length). Hope this helps!
