The Osprey Women's Aura 50 AG Pack is a mid-volume hiking pack for weekend to week-long adventures. The Aura 50 AG brings you Anti-Gravity™ suspension, with a mesh harness that wraps you back and shoulders with enough love and support to make it feel like you're barely lugging around all that gear. Okay, so you'll totally know you're lugging around a buncha gear, but it'll be way more comfortable with the ventilated mesh through the hipbelt, backpanel, and shoulder harness. Load your sleeping bag into the lower zippered compartment for complete separation from your other gear and tuck your trekking poles into the Stow-On-The-Go™ attachment points when you're ready to be hands-free on the trail. Shed a layer when you heat up and stash it into the front stretch mesh pocket for later. On shorter adventures with less gear, cinch everything down with the compression straps to tighten up and stabilize the load.

Osprey Anti-Gravity

Osprey Anti-Gravity
Using Osprey's peripheral suspension design this lightweight, body contouring, three dimensional suspension literally allows the wearer to move as if they don’t have a pack on. Seamless suspended mesh from the shoulder blades to the lumbar and even into the hipbelt region disperses and balances the load like nothing ever has before.

Osprey Peripheral Frame

Osprey Peripheral Frame
Peripheral frame was a departure from the norm many years ago and it’s still the foundation of our gear hauling packs. A wire frame runs along the outside of the backpanel directly connecting the upper load lifters and the central core of the pack to the hipbelt to transition and spread the load. Allowing natural torsional movement, effective adjustable torsos, and different load range and backpanel builds makes this suspension design truly innovative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's like getting a bear hug from your pack! This was my very first Osprey backpack! Before the Aura AG, I couldn't find a pack that would fit me comfortably and stay on my hips since I have such a small frame. I would constantly feel like my pants were falling down as my pack would slide off my hips. That all changed when I went on my first extended backpacking trip with my new Aura AG 50! When I first put it on my back it was super comfortable and felt like my pack was giving me a hug. We started up the trail with a pretty decent incline and I could tell that that all the weight was situated where it should be, on my hips! When we would stop and take breaks I finally didn't feel like I needed to take my pack off every time to give my shoulders a break. This is an absolutely great pack with a well thought out design! I'm so excited to go on even more backpacking trips with it this summer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Things have changed in 50 years! I don't know if I'm really qualified to review this pack. I'm starting again for the first time since I was 10, 50 years ago. Back then I had adult supervision, so I'm not very well versed in grownup decisions. However, I do remember pack technology back then, and this is SUPER! I've loaded it up with 25 lbs, which is close to all I will be carrying, and it feels like nothing. I have problems with sacroiliitis (lower back pain) and my first 5-mile test hike around the neighborhood didn't aggravate it at all! So far the only complaint I have is that I'd have liked quick-release buckles on the removable top-hat. You have to completely unthread them to get it off. But that's small stuff I can easily modify myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best pack ever! Love this pack! Bought it back in August and have taken it out a few times since then and am super happy with it. It fits everything I need for weekend camping trips, is super light weight, and is comfortable. I tried on probably 6-8 other packs before deciding to spend the extra money and get this one and I don't regret it for a second, it is worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack - fit at first hike. I took this pack on its first hikes on the South Island of New Zealand. Was a little nervous since I had not hiked with it before. Turns out this pack is a keeper. It fit like a charm. When fully packed (including hydration system) the suspension makes it feel as if you are barely carrying anything. Love the removable top compartment. Great work Osprey on a well designed, woman friendly pack!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Thru hiked the Pacific Crest Trail with the Aura I just completed a 2650 mile thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail with this pack and I loved it! At first, I thought the pack was too heavy (3.10 pounds) and the material of the pack too burly for light and fast backpacking. About a week or two into the trip I was glad this was the pack i was carrying. My load weighed anywhere from 19-37 pounds depending on how much food and water I had with me. The suspension system on this pack really made the weight easy to carry. My back and shoulders never hurt. At the end of 5 months hiking the pack is in great shape and I could probably use it for another Thru hike of the CDT. Also---love the green color! I recomend getting the ospery rain cover and water bladder. My only cons about this pack---I felt the sleeping bag compartment was not needed and some sleepingpad straps would have been useful. All in all---an exceptional peice of gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from State-of-the-Art comfort! I bought this a couple of weeks ago and put about 30 lbs in it and walked around the area where I live just to see how long the "comfort ability" would last. It was so comfortable after the adjustments I felt we were ready for the Appalachian Trail. The parts on the trail were fairly easy making this Osprey pack from Moosejaw, the correct decision to make in this important purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My favorite hiking companion I purchased the Aura 50 in 2012, so I have the older purple model, but it's the same basic setup. I've used it for small backpacking trips, as well as my 5.5 month thruhike of the AT this year. The 50-liter size is perfect for not letting you carry too much weight, although to fit all my winter gear I did have to use some compression sacks to get everything to fit. After resupply days, I sometimes just had to leave the top somewhat uncinched to hold everything, but that was no big deal. I put my sleeping bags (winter, then summer) in a compression sack in the bottom of my pack, and secured my sleeping pad on the bottom external straps. This was handy as it made my pack a kind of chairback when I took breaks. The straps and hip belt were as comfortable as a pack can be, but with long, sweaty distances, you will always have rubbing. I got packrash on my hips and back, but not the worse case I saw on trail. The side stretchy pockets are nice, but they get REALLY tight when your pack is full, so it can be hard to put stuff in them while it's strapped to your back. The reservoir holder in the back is nice because it fits Camelbak, MSR, etc without issue. The improvement I would request is having an external bladder section like many of my male friends' packs so that I don't have to unpack everything when I go to fill the bladder. The hip pockets were handy for fitting my SPOT GPS, pocket knife, watch face, etc. I do wish they were a bit bigger. As with any long-distance hike over many months, the pack (especially straps) were SERIOUSLY funky after a while. After multiple washings, it still smells, but all packs will do that. I got a lot of compliments on my pack through my hikes, and I'll be buying the same pack when it's time to retire my current one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing and comfortable bag! I bought this bag because I was unhappy with the current 50 bag I got from REI and I LOVE THIS BAG! It's great for carrying my gear to the crag plus all my snacks. I love how accessible it is from the top and the bottom! It's very customizable to fit your size or exactly the way you want it to fit, which comes in handy for when you are backpacking or just taking a bunch of stuff to the crag. What ever you use this pack for it's great. Super comfortable!

Call me needy, but does this pack come with a bladder and/or  rain cover? Osprey's bladders are fantastic.

Asked by: corn dog
Hey there, Unfortunately this pack does not come with a bladder or a rain cover. It does contain an internal reservoir sleeve, though. I hope this helps.

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
