The Osprey Transporter 130 Duffel is a large duffel bag for major trips. The Transporter is ready for loading everything but the kitchen sink, just open the large U-Zip access at the top for 130 liters of open space. My little brother tried to climb in before a trip once, I had to take him out before Mom noticed. Anyway, once opened, toss in your clothing or gear with reckless abandon (really freaks out those type-A people). The outside features zippered pockets for quick access to small items, one on the side, one on the top and one at the front. Those with beefy arms can carry their loaded duffel with one hand, but I prefer turning them into the shoulder straps to carry backpack style. So much easier.

FEATURES of the Osprey Transporter 130 Duffel

  • Convertible handles harness
  • Webbing attachment points
  • Lockable U-Zip panel load access

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big and tough! Bought this bad boy to haul gear on a recent trip to Mexico. It’s tough enough to get tossed around and take a beating while fully loaded and come out the other end still looking brand new. The ability to wear it as a back pack is a plus but I will say it’s not the most comfortable way to haul a heavy load, so don’t expect it to function as a pack. It’s better suited for carrying massive amounts of gear that you won’t need to physically carry over long distances. Overall I’m impressed with this duffel and would def recommend it. Osprey is also a great company that stands behind their products. I recently sent them a pack to repair after owning it for over 10 years and they were super easy to deal with and even sent me a free koozie along with my expertly repaired pack. Can’t beat that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best large duffel around Bought this, Sea to Summit, and Patagonia to compare... this was the best, returned the other two. Only thing missing is a shoulder sling strap, but the backpack suspension is the best I have seen on a non-backpack. This thing should last forever, great weight to strength ratio too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big bag full of features great bag, it's huge and has many pockets to organize your gear, oh and you can pack it into its top pocket when you don't need it. It probably has to be checked in though

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YUGE Duffel, Holds the Kitchen Sink I've been using one of these updated Transporter 130s for about 8 months now as part of product testing and general curiosity. So far it has tagged along to Peru and Ecuador for 3 weeks of high altitude mountaineering, on many a roadtrip stuffed with camping and climbing gear, and most recently to the Bugaboos in Canada for more climbing. This thing has transported ice axes and crampons on 3 international flights and not had an issue with durability, pretty stellar! There isn't much to it for organization, so it becomes a bit of a puzzle to pack if you have some irregularly shaped items - I haven't run into too many unsolvable pieces yet. The pack away shoulder straps have been huge, I can have it loaded with 70+ pounds of gear and still get across a few airport terminals without crumbling into the carpet. That also has allowed me to carry a smaller daypack on the front when I need to be moving. In Ecuador I left my packed Transporter outside in a light rainstorm that lasted 3 hours, all the contents were dry and the coated exterior beaded water like it was supposed to, nice. My gripe with these duffels is the zipper, as it can be tough to get going when the inside is full. It's a small gripe, as the zipper is definitely burly to help with durability, and the flap that covers the zipper path is there to keep things dry and clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Tony the Tiger would say, "It's Grrrreat!" Purchased a second Transporter 130 for my Opresy 70L backpack. This 130L fits the backpack and much more! The main handle converts to shoulder straps when you need to sprint down the terminal, and padded grab handles keep your hands prime while you wait for a taxi. ,,,,The top U-zip provides a wide access so you can grab anything out of your bag simply. Osprey also put pockets on every side of this duffel. This bag exceeds my expectations!!!

For this kind of money & a pack suited for mainly outdoor use I would expect it to be water proof. I have an Osprey backpack that I luv to death but I won't spring this kind of money since it isn't waterproof. Does Osprey make a water proof duffel?

Asked by: Zurichman
Hiya Zurichman, thanks for your question! The main compartment of the new Osprey Transporter 130 Duffel is water resistant. It can't be submerged under water but it has zippers with rain flaps to protect it from the elements. You can find the new version here: https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Osprey-Transporter-130-Duffel_10343468_10208_10000001_-1_ Hope this helps!

Would this be good as checked luggage?

Asked by: Kilokilo
Hey there Kilokilo, Thanks for your question. This would be a great bag if you were just traveling with clothing and/or non-fragile items. If you are looking for a bag that is water resistant and is more suitable for use as a checked luggage bag, I would suggest the Osprey Shuttle 100L/30IN Travel Pack. It is treated with DWR (which means the fabric is water resistant), and it provides more protection for your belongings. https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Osprey-Shuttle-100L-30IN-Travel-Pack_10286164_10208_10000001_-1_ Happy travels!

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
