Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this for mountain biking! I purchased one of these packs several years ago and have raved about it ever since. I bought one for a friend as a gift and recently when mine was stolen I bought another right away. This pack was definitely made with the cyclist in mind. When mtn biking it stays put on your back due to the quality waist belt and torso strap. I love the pockets on the waist belt, perfect for a phone and sunscreen. It's got a great water bladder and pouches stuff in bulky stuff, a special spot for your riding glasses as well as a nice pouch and location for your tools. I hope I don't need to buy another one but if I do the Raptor 14 will be the one! PS. I use it for day hikes as well and really like it for that too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All round winner Bought this for my partner's bike to work days that take 1 1/2 hours each way. He's delighted ! It has room for a rolled up shirt, lunch, and various things needed for a light trip. He also likes the hip pockets, to get keys or phone quickly, and the inbuilt reservoir that attaches at the front so he doesn't have to stop and deal wth getting the water out. it hasn't been used for anything else yet, but it looks like it'll work for all kinds of trips. I have another Osprey pack and know, after a year, that they're a great buy. Best on the market.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awesome concept, needs more design work It pains me to write this review. First off, I own what I would consider to be a good amount of Osprey gear. I absolutely love the brand and I have been through the warranty program with a backpack and it is truly the best warranty program I have ever dealt with, period. I buy all things Osprey and tell everyone! Issue#1 I ride motocross and have owned a Camelbak Thermobak 3.0L hydration pack for about 3 years. I was not having any problems with it other than it did not have any storage whatsoever. Going on motocross trail rides, I need a place to store keys and other items. I have looked at purchasing the Raptor 10 for quite sometime. The pack was recently gifted to me and I have been carrying it around work for 12 hrs. a day for about 5 weeks now. Although I hate to say it, compared to the Camelbak Thermobak, the Raptor 10 is not comfortable. When the hydration bladder is full of water, the area that rest against your back becomes convexed and rests uncomfortably on my spine which causes a very irritating pain as the day goes on. As the bladder empties, the shape becomes flatter and more tolerable, however at this point the nerve is irritated and still hurts. I have an Atmos 65 with the Anti-Gravity suspension system and can wear the pack all day long without issue. This hydration pack could use the same suspension system. I have not been riding with this pack yet, but if it is just as uncomfortable riding with it as it is walking around, I will more than likely revert back to the Camelbak Thermobak and have a pack that I don't use. Issue#2 The other issue is one that I've seen discussed on the internet and that is the strap length. I am 6' 185 lbs. and the belt straps are all the way pulled in and you are left with these weird loops at the front. It makes it harder to tighten the straps with the c-clip and still leaves you with an extreme amount of excess. Suggestions to Ospery R&D: Put Anti-Gravity system on this pack Use Boa system Include bite valve cover

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack. Highly recommended. I looked for a long time for a good pack for my MTB trips that can support also day hikes and other activities. I ended up selecting the Raptor 14, and was not disappointed. During my first week, I used it for 1/2 day of ski, day hike and for 1/2 day of mountain biking. It did the job great, and earned the nickname in my family - "the magic bag" - having everything you need when you need it. Pockets/compartments are very well thought through. Convenient, right sized, addressing the needs. Resovouir compartment, size and attachment are great - loved the magnet that holds the valve, as well as t the very convenient resovouir pocket. The tools pocket I use for first aid kid - just stash it there and keep it for all my activities (I don't need tools there, as I have that on my bike). I can easily add food for the day, a layer for colder time as well as glasses, iPhone, iPhone battery, keys and wallet. The only thing I would improve - the adjustable waist straps form an unneeded loop when adjusting to shorter size. Not a big deal but can be improved in next version. Thank you Osprey for a great job on this pack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of mind Ive had the Raptor 10 going on 3 years now. This is the best item (other than a night light) that I ha ve purchased for mountain biking. I fill the water bladder at the 1.5 liter mark the night before a ride. I like the magnet hitch and the bite valve. This unit gives me peace of mind when going on long adventures in the middle of the forest or rail trails. The 10 is the perfect size for me. Very thoughtful engineering went into this back pack. I like all the compartments. It is a little pricey but it is expected to last a lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Backpack is quality This backpack is quality, comfortable, and all the compartments in it are well thought out and useful. It is built for mountain biking, and it feels like it was designed by a mountain biker: the glasses pouch, the tool pouch, the minimalist compartments, the stretchy pocket in the back for gloves, the helmet holder... I had a problem with my bite valve almost immediately (it tore), and that's a problem. I wrote to osprey about it, and they responded saying they were sorry about that and it shouldn't have happened --they actually stood by their product-- and sent me multiple replacements immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Day Pack I purchased this pack to go with a mid size and expedition size packs that I have from Gregory. A fellow hiker friend had the Osprey and on our last hike together I decided it was time for me to add it to my collection. I'm a big guy with broad shoulders and a long torso. I found that the Raptor adjust well to me and being a gadget nut, I love all the nooks and crannies this pack offers. Lots of packing options and the 100 ounce bladder is a plus. It wears well, doesn't slide on my back and is breathable. I have room for gear, snacks, keys, wallet and all my EDC pack equipment. I can not really find a issue so far with this pack. As I said, I'm a big guy yet it still adjust for my size and fits comfortably. Hope this pack lasts a long time.

Can you use it for ultra running?

Asked by: purple aces
Thanks for the question! The Raptor 14 was designed for more as a mountain biking pack. It may be a little heavy for ultra running at 25.7 oz. I would stick with a more vest-style pack, such as the Men's Duro 6 Hydration Pack or the Women's Dyna 6 Hydration Pack. I wasn't sure if you needed Men's or Women's. Both are light-weight, offer 1.5 liter reservoir, and plenty of pocket space. I included links below. I hope this helps! https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Osprey-Men-s-Duro-6-Hydration-Pack_10333333_10208_10000001_-1_ https://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Osprey-Women-s-Dyna-6-Hydration-Pack_10333338_10208_10000001_-1_

Osprey Raptor 14 Pack

Size One Size
Torso Range 17 - 21" / 43 - 53 cm
Volume / Pack Capacity 14 liters / 854 cubic inches
Dimensions 20 x 9 x 9 in.
Weight 1.61 lbs
Hipbelt 25 - 50" / 64 - 127 cm

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size the pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size chart above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelt size info above to help determine your ideal pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
