The Osprey Radial 34 Pack is a durable backpack built for the bike commute, but able to handle all walks of daily life. The Radial 34 has loads of room for everything from your laptop to an extra pair of shoes. The laptop compartment is separate, padded and fits up to a 15 inch computer, because you definitely don't want your fancy machine touching a smelly shoe. The main compartment is a large cavern for your bulky texts, lunch, and gym clothes. The front panel is organization for smaller items that could get lost in the cavern, such as your pens and keys. A small zippered stash pocket at the top protects your phone and wallet. When riding, a U-Lock fits in the front stretch pocket, and when you arrive at the bike rack, lock up and then attach your helmet via the LidLock clip for hands free entry into the building. On the saddle or walking through campus, the Suspended mesh AirSpeed™ backpanel works together with a Perforated EVA foam BioStretch™ harness to keep your back cool and shoulders comfortable.

Osprey Peripheral Frame

Osprey Peripheral Frame
Peripheral frame was a departure from the norm many years ago and it’s still the foundation of our gear hauling packs. A wire frame runs along the outside of the backpanel directly connecting the upper load lifters and the central core of the pack to the hipbelt to transition and spread the load. Allowing natural torsional movement, effective adjustable torsos, and different load range and backpanel builds makes this suspension design truly innovative.

Osprey Airspeed

Osprey Airspeed
Using peripheral suspension design this lightweight, three dimensional suspension eliminates foam and backpanel materials and replaces it with lightweight suspended mesh. Three dimensionally shaped to allow maximum airflow and optimal tension and load carry sets Osprey apart from other tensioned mesh backpacks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely uncomfortable and a step down from old pack. The pack is extremely uncomfortable. The hard frame digs into your hips and other part of your body. I understand the concept of a hardframe, but there is very little padding where the frame actually touches your body making wearing the pack for any extended period or with any load an awful experience. (for context I am 145lbs and 5'9"). I am very disappointed in the pack and would NOT recommend it to anyone. I previously had a Momentum 34 which was amazing, comfortable and had more features. Unfortunately the zipper of that pack broke and they could not fix it so they sent me this as a replacement. Truly awful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I own multiple Osprey bags that I love, this is not one First off, I love Opsrey packs. I have over 5 different types of Osprey bags in my house, and I now exclusively buy their products when I'm looking for bags. I received this bag as a warranty replacement for my Momentum 34, which was quite possibly the best commuter bag ever made. There are a lot of great things about this bag. The multitude of pockets allow for well-organized storage. I love the two front pockets that allow you to store shoes e without somehow adding much bulk. The laptop pocket is great, and I love the rain cover that is included. Some parts of the bag that I'm not particularly fond: 1) The lack of a pocket on the shoulder straps is annoying. They now have a pocket on the side of the bag that you are supposed to be able to access while the bag is on your back. If you have a reasonably large frame, you can't reach this pocket. I have to swing the bag off of one shoulder to reach the pocket, which means I can't access any pockets on the fly - such as when I'm stopped at a light. 2) The Kickstand is completely meh. I find the added bulk and oddly shaped frame that is necessary to make this whole concept happen makes the bag somewhat awkward and bulky when compared to the Momentum 34 that this bag replaced for me. Now the deal-breaker. This is what truly makes me wish I didn't own this pack every time I'm wearing it riding...the use of Shock Cord on the suspension system completely ruins this bag. It's supposed to move with the rider for a more comfortable fit, but in reality, it allows the bag to bounce around every time you hit a bump. To get the bag to fit securely on my back, I have to crank down the shoulder, chest, and waist straps. When I do this, the wire frame of the bag keeps hitting the back of my helmet when I am in a more aggressive handlebar position. I gave the pack 2 stars because the construction is solid and overall concept are great, but the Shock Cord suspension system negates all the positive points.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but here's what it misses.. Great bag overall. However the hip belt could've been better padded. I often find it digs into my back as it is a little narrow. I'm a size 34 waist and it's just tiny there. Have had the bag for a out 2 years. Small wear and tear, not a huge fan of material change in the new bags.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent pack Great backpack with lots of space and great compartments for commuting and transporting back and forth from home to office. I like how it sits on its own without falling over which was a feature I wasn't sure about to begin with given the review that it wears through. It hasn't worn through at this point, however I'm only a couple months in. I do use it for travelling a bit as well and I notice that it bounces as I walk when there's a bit of weight in the pack. I wish the weight distribution adjustment bungee cord at the top of the shoulder straps were replaced with regular straps. The toggle sometimes also release the tension on the straps causing the backpack to sag a bit. Neither of those things are especially bothersome, I just wish they were different. It is a fantastic product for commuting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from One Design Error --- This pack has lots to offer, unfortunately, if you look at the internal frame and where it meets the ground you will see that they did not put a metal or plastic brackets on. This insures that it will wear through in 3 months or sooner. Essentially it is a terminal design error; For men or women who work in the National Parks and woods, and ride or walk, you will find the metal frame coming through very fast on the pack and it won't make a year. Outside this Error the pack works but for now I am returning mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great commuter pack Very comfortable pack. I love the ventilation on my back when I'm wearing it. It greatly reduces sweat buildup on my back. It is very light and plenty of room for a change of clothes and lunch. Just wish it has a small zippered internal pocket for change, id or other small items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable/Well Balanced I use my pack daily to commute to college on my bike. The pack is well balanced and fits brilliantly onto your back. The shoulder and waist straps help to balance whatever load you are carrying. The interior pockets are great for organizing your gear and in my case my school supplies. The built in rain cover is super convenient and the material/zippers are good quality/durable. A few negatives...the pack is fairly heavy and tends to fall over when set it on the floor or ground. The pockets are pretty deep and if you are only carry books they tend to get buried but can be a plus when you need to add extra gear for inclement weather. The side pockets do not work well with bottles, they tend to fly out when you swing the bag on or off. Overall I give the bag 4 stars and is a huge upgrade from my eagle creek.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Going Back This is by far the best pack I've owned. I had some idiot hit me on my bike with a car. I was going 15mph, The pack isn't even scratch.,,Not sure how you can't see me going down the road with this neon green pack<<

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
