Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the clear choice So I just arrived in Tucson with my Porter 46. Love it. As a back pack, easy to carry. To pack, way better than a top load. At the airport, being able to stow the straps makes carry on easy peasy. And the small flap up front help my lap top and electronic gizmos. You will not be disappointed. Quality built. O, and ordering from Jawbone made everything easy and quick.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You can fit a lot I bought this bag and I'm pumped about it. It's huge but I can still carry it on the plane. I was hoping to also use it as a school backpack, but it'd a bit big for that

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Osprey port r 45 This bag it the perfect size for travel. Holds everything I must have plus more. Great size for cabin luggage to save on a checked bag. Front opening so handy compared to traditional backpack

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great backpack! I bought this a month ago to backpack around SE Asia and it'd say it's a very comfortable backpack. I didn't have any issues with it. I also liked how it has a bag to put documents so they don't get all wrinkled. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because sometimes it would not qualify for carry-on. But probably this was because some airlines wanted 7 lb and below. I can tell that it has a good durability. I could tell where someone or something scratched it but it looks like a minor scratch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the fit Feels great, fits overhead in planes. I will be using this while I travel to China in the near future. I really like the straps, as they allow me to feel protected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest travel backpack! This is my go-to backpack for traveling, especially international. It is so comfortable, lightweight and practical. It has literally replaced my luggage. It has the ability to hold plenty of what you need. Best of all, it’s carry on, so no more dealing with checked luggage. I really cannot say anything bad about this pack. Needless to say, I highly recommend this pack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best travel backpack I bought this backpack to travel Europe. It was super spacious and I loved all the variety in the compartments. The option to snap and tighten the straps also made sure that everything was nicely held together. The only negative was that the bag was a bit large on my small 5'1" frame, but the waist straps made it more comfortable. This bag is a must have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Carry-on Alternative I bought this backpack with the intention of making domestic and international travel (basic plane/train/car/etc.) easier - no one wants to be running down a platform, trying desperately to catch a train, with a rolley suitcase flip-flopping behind her. My needs in a travel backpack are: * Comfortable on a small frame (5'2" and not a very hefty person) * Holds at least 40 liters but not more than 46 (enough for a paired-down 2-4 week wardrobe + other essentials, but not so big that I run into extra baggage fees or am tempted to pack way too much stuff) * Sturdy enough to hold up to a few domestic weekend and maybe 1-2 international trips per year - ideally without needing replacement ever * Substantial laptop compartment (good padding, enough room) I did a LOT of research on travel backpacks - read a bunch of blogs, reviews, asked friends and sometimes strangers what they thought, etc. I narrowed my options down to this pack or the Opsrey Farpoint 40. The Farpoint was significantly more comfortable (they have a small size that is well suited to my fellow shorties) and I actually liked that it has a smaller capacity. I am not going to lie, I'm also a big Next Gen fan and so the name appealed to me also. Ultimately, I decided the Farpoint is probably better for backpacking/hiking. The laptop compartment is very bare-bones and located on the outermost pocket. It is also made of thinner material which helps with weight but not man-handling by airport employees. The selling points for me of the Porter are: * Comfortable *enough* ...definitely not for hiking, but it's fine for a few hours of walking around until you can drop your stuff off somewhere (would probably be more comfortable on a larger frame, fyi) * It is as my upper limit of 46L *but* the compression straps are amazing and if you have less stuff you can make the pack size smaller, so it's sort of an "adjust as needed" situation * Very sturdy - has rigid side panels on the outside. This is also really great for packing and unpacking because the pack sides don't flop down while you're trying to get stuff in and out of there. Also has padded handles if you wanna carry it like a duffel bag or from the top. * Excellent laptop compartment with plenty of padding. This does take space away from the main pack compartment, but to me it is worth it to protect a very valuable object that has all my work files, and let's face it pretty much my whole life, in it. * I also really like the balance of one big compartment with a few smaller pockets - too many small pockets and you loose packing options. Having most of the space as one large compartment lets you divide with compression cubes as needed. Things I don't love about the porter include: * Due to the shape (rounded at front), when you put on the floor upright, it rolls over to the front. Even if I try leaning it against a wall with the back facing the wall, the pack rolls over to the front. With some practice I'm getting better and making it stay up but it's still a bit annoying. Not a big deal. * Also due to the shape, it sticks out a lot when it's on - I have accidentally hit some people with it while turning around. Again, not a big deal, especially if you don't care for the people you're hitting anyway. * There are some small pockets in the front compartment that I don't think I'll ever use for anything - they don't really take up space, though, so I can just fill the larger part of that compartment with no room lost overall. I am very happy with my choice and would recommend this pack to anyone who travels for business, packs light for vacations, works while on extended vacations, etc. Lifetime Osprey guarantee is a bonus.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
