The inside of the luggage is panel loading, with four internal zippered pockets for organization of socks and underwear as well as internal compression straps for clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Carryon I've Ever Owned I travel a lot and try to maximize the amount of packing space I have. This pack is really 2 backpacks on one. The upper pack zips off easily to separate from the lower one. The lower pack has a spacious main compartment as well as a sort of hidden back compartment where the backpack straps would be stored...but I removed those for extra storage space. The smaller top pack, while not exactly spacious can expand with the number of items you put on it. It has tons of padding so I put all my electronics in it. I use a lot t of tablets and can easily carry 5 of 6 here with no problem. If my pack won't fit in an overhead bin on an airplane a just separate the two and they always fit separately. Yet it's just one Carryon! It's really a brilliant system!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great carry on size pack with removable harness I have been on three three week summer trips to Europe with this pack as well as overseas business trips. You really don't need that many clothes if you wash them once a week. Great pack. The first version I bought the handle ripped apart so they sent me this one, the latest. The handle screws will work themselves loose so go to your local auto parts store and buy some thread locking liquid. Hoepfully, this will solve the problem. Two other issues, one, the wheels are not that far apart so if you don't have the handle low enough the pack will tip to the side and you have to stop and right it. It would be better if the wheels telescoped out for stability. The second issue is, I am 6' 3" and the handle is not quite long enough. Three more inches would help. Other than that, highly recommend this good quality pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from outstanding! I have been a business traveller since 1984. This is the best luggage I have ever owned. Has literally been around the world from east to west 3 times and north to south once with lots of in between trips. Auto, air, boat, and even day packing. Longest hike with the entire pack and other gear 3 miles and 100 vertical feet change. I wouldn't take it on a longer hike because my hips don't fit between the wheels well. The day pack is really fine. I keep two computers and business equipment in the day pack and clothes etc in the base unit. Luggage handlers really aren't kind to luggage and it took 40 flight legs and three times as many road hours before they managed to tear off a part. Still didn't lose contents integrity and protection. Honestly, this is real quality gear. The only criticism that I have is that the screws that hold the telescoping handle on are perpetually working lose. Funny stories with HSA inspections and tiny screw drivers and a few tense moments. Almost worth the fuss for the stories. This is a great combo and I recommend it very highly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very practical and durable I've traveled worldwide with this bag and it's been great. I can carry it on the plane or check it if I want. The bag has been through all sorts of conditions. I love that it has a lifetime guarantee also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's an amazing bag. I wouldn't buy it from Moosejaw, though! This bag is a lot bigger than it looks. Its extremely well made and very sturdy. It's light weight and has several pockets and compartments for your things. If youre looking for a bag that has it all, you should go for this one. ,, I received my bag in a timely fashion. I opened the box to find out that one of the drawstrings on the backpack was missing. I got in contact with a rep from Moosejaw and they said if I sent the bag back, they could send me another one. With my trip coming up in two weeks, I wouldn't have enough time to send it back and then wait for the new one to come. I asked if they could just send me a drawstring so I could hook it on and that wasn't possible or an option. Bottom line, buy straight from REI or Backcountry.com, where customer service is reliable and consistent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved! Nice......,,,,This is bigger than I expected, in a good way. I'm 6' tall and it goes up to my knee. I love it because size is not to big and not to small. I can wear it as a backpack with it slowing me down. The straps are cleverly concealed and tucked in so roll with it. And, I won't trip over a strap. ,,,,-The quality is perfect. This is only my second Osprey ( I have a smaller one for sort hikes that hold about 2 gallons or so, of water).,,,,-I bought this in black, and it awesome. Rolls well and fits comfortable. ,,,,-This packs perfect enought for a weeks journey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THey have thought of everything I just packed my Osprey Meridian 22 today in preparation to leaving next week for a three week trip in Europe. I had to make some hard choices in what to leave behind in that carry on size but I was able to pack the essentials that I can comfortably keep with me at all times. Even on a mixed trip where for two weeks I will be touring Italian cities and the third week will be spent on a sailboat in the Greek Islands. I am still working on what to pack in some of the special compartments. Looking forward to travaling no matter the terrain.

Do the dimensions and weight provided include the day pack? If so, what are the dimensions (especially capacity) of just the larger bag? If not, what are the dimensions of the day pack?

Asked by: magnoliablues
Hey there, Thanks for the question. The measurements listed to include the day pack. The individual measurements of the day pack are 20.5 x 13 x 4 inches (height x width x depth). I hope this helps.

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
