Rated 5 out of 5 by from Osprey Hydralics 3L hydration pack I was very pleased with this product. The tubing disconnects so that you can refill the pack without re-routing everything again. There is a firm backing which helps the water maintain the shape of the bag while in the pack. This makes it much easier to load and unload gear while the hydration pack is full. Seems sturdy and well-made. Worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems like Opsrey fixed the problems? I just got mine and maybe Osprey fixed the top attachment hook breaking issue and the plastic taste issue. Mine does not have a hook, it's a hole in the center (see image) that you have to slide the attachment clip from the bag and fasten it. Also there is no plastic taste. I didn't even rinse mine and don't taste any plastic. This is replacement for a Camelbak crux that I did not like. The Osprey is a far superior product, pretty impressed so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bring back the old version...this thing is terrible! Oh Osprey...you really missed the mark with this one. The old blue version was so great...easy to fill because it was rigid with the long handle that also helped guide into any of my 4 Osprey packs and it never leaked. Unfortunately everything fails in time and something poked it and it sprung a leak...not Osprey's fault. This new version is junk at best. First of all, you have to try to hold the sides or lips of the reservoir open to fill but since it isn't as rigid so you can't hold the wimpy handle and fill it so it's a challenge not to spill water everywhere. Secondly, once filled with 3 liters of water, you cannot get it all the way down into the hydration sleeve on a Stratos pack, it stops halfway down and you have to force down even on an empty pack and hope it doesn't bust open. So now that ridiculous useless mesh pocket on a Stratos (another major fail) is not usable either. I've tried to use my other hand to guide the reservoir down into the sleeve and it's nearly impossible. Even on actual hydration packs like a Manta that have a dedicated hydration compartment, it's hard to get in and out with that wimpy plastic excuse for a handle. Lastly, just know that it's going to bust open or leak pretty soon after using, which it already has within a couple of weeks of being VERY GENTLE with it so now it's useless. I know this new version is fashionable to some and seems like a good idea on paper but if they actually did any product testing like most of the reviews on here...they would have never allowed it to be sold. Major fail Osprey...love your products but this was a waste of my hard earned money. Even a bad Camelbak bladder is better than this thing. Thanks for nothing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I miss the old design I've had a Raptor 14 for years now. I initially bought an extra bladder for my endurance races. Later I purchased a third bladder to have as a spare. It is the new fold over design vs the older screw top design. Overall I am not a fan of the new sealing method. I've used my 2 original bladders almost every day for 3 years and have never had an issue with them sealing. The biggest downside is that the new design holds substantially less water. Overall it is still functional seems durable but I'd pay more for an old style unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Well it's great until it starts leaking at the base Well I LOVE the Osprey 14 pack but the bladder is really bad, it's opening is very small (which I can live with) but they start leaving often. I am on my 3rd one and they all start leaking around the base. Epoxy works for another month then total failure. For a product this expensive it should last. Again the pack is excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ehhh...Kind of disapointed. I was looking for a replacement for a previous osprey reservoir. I was a little skeptical of the whole ziplock lid thing but figured I would give it a try. So far no problem with leaking. It says you can fill it with one hand but that's not really true. You need one to open it and one to hold the bag. This is fine when you are filling in a sink but not sure how that's supposed to work in the field. What I really don't like about this reservoir is the spout. The lock feature is really hard to turn from lock to open. Further, you really have to work to get water out of it. I felt thirsty because I never felt like I could get enough water out. I didn't have this problem with he old spout from osprey. I'm probably going to steal the one of my old reservoir or go with a camelback. I was a little bummed because I really like osprey products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New is not better I have both an Atmos AG 50 for day hikes and purchased an AG65 for extended hikes. I have an older style 2 litre bladder in the AG 50 and a 3 litre bladder in the AG 65. The design of the 2 Litre old style with screw on cap is far superior to this new style! 1. The plastic support clip broke on the second hike. It is not strong enough to support 3 litres of water. 2. It is more awkward to fill and, due to its full shape, takes up too much room. 3. Following on with point 2, the old style is both longer and wider meaning when full, the shape does not push into the pack storage area as much as the new 3 litre version. 4. Plastic feels less durable. Still getting bad taste; did not experience this with the earlier bladder. 4. Pros are that it weighs 35 grams less than the 2 litre screw cap version. 5,. Comes with a quick release tube (which I also retro fitted to the screw cap 2 litre version. Summary, look elsewhere, not suitable for its intended purpose.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like the older styles better. This is the third generation of hydration bladders that I have owned from Osprey and I prefer the older styles for a couple of reasons. 1. I find it difficult to hold while filling. 2. It is a lot narrower than previous bladders which makes it thicker when full. This makes it difficult to load it into an already loaded pack and takes up valuable space. Would love to see a wider, thinner bladder. It is way easier to clean and I do like the new mouthpiece design.

Would the 3L fit the Osprey Tempest 20?

Asked by: Jc2897
Hiya Jc2897, thanks for your question! Yes, the 3 liter fits in the Tempest 20! Personally, I would fill it with snacks... but hydration is probably more important. Hope this helps!

Can be used in just a regular backpack?

Asked by: Joko
Thanks for the question! Yes, you could use your regular backpack, but you will need to make sure there isn't a lot of pressure on the reservoir. Also, you could potentially have issues with the tube length. Just make sure it is placed near the top and close to your back. Then thread the hose out the bottom of your pack, and route it to where you can clip it to your chest harness. Hope this helps!

will this bladder, in either 2L or 3L work in my Gregory Z35 or REI Traverse 30?... or is it just meant for Osprey packs? Other recommendations for either/or of these packs would be appreciated.

Asked by: Rev Thom
Hiya Rev Thom, thanks for your question! Most 3L reservoirs will fit in the Gregory Z35, including the Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir. Sorry, I can't test the REI Traverse 30, since we don't carry it. Hope this helps!

OSPREY MEASUREMENT GUIDE

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

HOW TO MEASURE TORSO LENGTH:
• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

HOW TO MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE:
• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
