Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack just needs to add... I've been using the Flapjack as my work bag for about a week now. The quality of the bag is great, exactly what you would expect from Osprey. The front pocket is great for storing pens and knick knacks, the main compartment is spacious and helps me organise my iPad, documents, and books easily, and the side water bottle pocket allows for easy access to my drink. The pack is a little bigger than I had thought, but it sits very comfortably on my back. On my back, the pack feels much lighter than it actually is, so that's great. My only real gripe about the bag is that the straps flap around quite a bit once you tighten everything. Including some way of organising the excess straps would make the pack look much more professional (maybe some kind of roll up and velcro system, or elastic loops like on North Face's bags?). Also on my wishlist for the next generation Flapjack would be a phone pocket on the shoulder strap for easy access to my phone; but that's wishful thinking more than anything really. But, all in all, another great bag from Osprey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from And I almost sent it back! I am lucky enough to get to travel a bit.....and I have gotten to my destination more than once without my suitcase arriving on the same flight. We were getting ready for a rather extended travel time, and I ordered this FlapJill. When it came It didn't wow me. But, circumstances prevented its return and time for a replacement, so I kept it. The longer I have it, the more I appreciate it . I wouldn't give it up now. World's greatest carry on. I LOVE MY FLAPJILL. And to think, I most sent it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from College Backpack I ordered this backpack to carry around my laptop and other school items around. I also use it when taking weekend trips. The bag is larger then I anticipated but it is a great size for everything that I need and with the flap it still stays slim and streamlined to my back. I removed the waist belt but I kept the chest strap on and use it when I am carrying a lot of books. This pack is great for any urban setting and I don't worry about anybody having access to my bag while I am wearing it. Best school backpack I have ever had. The straps are still a little stiff so I have to loosen one in order to take the bag on and off but that isn't an issue at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unlike the picture I bought this pack last year and I was super excited. I love osprey packs and they have never done me wrong. However the updated flapjack pack wasn't quite what I had hoped. The pack that I got, the shoulder straps are hard and thin. The picture on the website shows that they are more padded. And updated version? But because of the stiffness of the pack and shoulder straps, it makes it difficult to carry around a decent load. Kind of like carrying a cardboard box. I have given it a lot of chances, but it's just not as comfortable as I had hoped. Maybe this is and updated version though!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, Sturdy & Holds a Lot I have an older model of this backpack that has the two straps. When I bought the backpack, I wanted something large, but not masculine and I wanted a neutral color; I have a stone color with interchangeable green, pink and brown straps. I have used this for 4 years, through all seasons and even in heavy rains (waiting on commuter bus(10 min)), my contents stay dry. I use to have 3 sprints for my morning commute and again 3 sprints for my afternoon commute. I've tossed it in the wash under the gentle cycle and it cleans up well. I also don't place it on public walkways or streets. I am ready to purchase additional products from Osprey for travel. They have made me a believer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My all time favorite pack! This is by far my favorite pack. I just like the simplicity of the design and I get compliments everywhere I go. Great for school/work/urban settings, this pack does it job well and having a padded sleeve for laptop is definitely great! I like the older version better with two buckles, but overall... a go to pack for my everyday use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, adaptable pack I've been using this pack for a week or so after finally finding a replacement for my one-shoulder messenger bag. I was in love before being fully "moved in" to this bag. The Good: I have ample room for my 35mm camera and lenses, notebooks/whatnot and a jacket/light rain shell in the main compartment. The internal water bottle sleeve is perfect for my oversized Nalgene Silo bottle, and the laptop sleeve is great for stuffing my computer or just folders/papers. I also really like the mesh pocket on the outside of the "divider" for the laptop sleeve. The front pocket has the right amount of organization for me: Sleeves for a couple of pens and 2 bigger pouches for miscellaneous items. No crazy "spec ops" pockets. The bigger front pouch is also perfect for my tablet and medium sized items such as my flashlight/books. The very front pouch is fine and only has a key lanyard for organization. The tall/narrow pocket on the right side of the pack is a bit different and I haven't found the best use for it for daily tasks, but it does (mostly) contain my tripod with just a bit sticking out of the top. The little pocket on the top flap is the perfect size for those "in and out" items such as keys or sunglasses or a spare roll of film, but I wouldn't put much in there as things can get jumbled when you flip the flap over. The padding on the back and straps is great and the carry handle is really beefy which is good for lines at the airport and such. Even when loaded up near capacity, the pack can stay pretty slim with the flap cinched down tightly. You can still reach in with the flap closed and access zippered pockets for small items. The not so good: Compared to other, more technical packs I have from Osprey, this has a tendency to droop a bit and slouch past the shoulder. My only other complaint is that there's no draw string to cinch up the main compartment. This would be nice for days when the pack isn't loaded up so much. Looking forward to years of use!

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE - Osprey's Lifetime Warranty

When Osprey celebrated their 35th anniversary in 2009 they launched The Osprey All Mighty Guarantee. What that means to you is ANY Osprey product purchased at ANY time is covered. Any product, any reason, any era - the all encompassing Osprey lifetime warranty ensures their dedication to superior design, craftsmanship and quality of their products is backed up by their actions to replace or repair a pack so it lasts a lifetime. Or two.

Here are some details.... Osprey will repair for any reason, free of charge, any damage or defect in their products, whether it was purchased back in 1974, or ordered right now from this site. If they are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, they will happily replace it. Osprey proudly stands behind the All Mighty Guarantee, so much so that it bears the signature of company founder and head designer, Mike Pfotenhauer.

Some Osprey All Mighty Guarantee FAQs:

What do I do if my Osprey pack needs to be repaired?
If you live in the United States and need a repair done on your Osprey pack, you will first need to obtain a Return Authorization number. You can do this by reaching their Returns Department at 866-314-3130, or using the information that is provided with a new Osprey pack.

What do I do if I just need a replacement pack part like a buckle?
Give Osprey a call at 866-314-3130 and they will take care of you.

How long will it take?
You can tell Osprey you need the pack returned by a certain date when you request a Return Authorization number, and they will do their absolute best to meet that deadline.

What if my pack is super dirty and stinks?
Clean it before you send it to Osprey to get repaired. The real reason is that there is a law that says if your gear is too dirty or odiferous (smelly), Osprey is not allowed to repair it and will just return it to you.

Do I have to pay for shipping?
A little bit. You are responsible for the cost of shipping the pack to Osprey, and they will pay shipping to return the pack via UPS or FedEx. Osprey cannot be held responsible if packages get lost in transit, so make sure you get a tracking number when you ship your pack out. Also, if you use expedited shipping be sure to let Osprey know (866-314-3130). They, in turn, will give your pack priority processing and return it using a similar expedited shipping method.

Do I have to register my pack to take advantage of this incredible guarantee, and/or need to be the original owner of my Osprey pack?
No! Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee is truly ALL MIGHTY. If you own an Osprey pack that needs to be repaired they will repair or replace it.

JUST A HEADS UP: If your Osprey product is not repairable and is replaced, the original product will not be returned to you. They will try really really hard to repair your pack, but if they are unable to make a functional repair, they will replace it. For products that are no longer in production you will be contacted by Osprey to discuss replacement options.

All good answers. So what is NOT covered?
• Osprey program packs or any Osprey pack used by outdoor programs are ONLY covered under Osprey's Program Pack Warranty, NOT AMG.
• Size and/or fit issues. Make sure you buy a pack that fits. Check out the size guide on Osprey product pages for more info.
• Personal preferences like colors you don't like, style of the pack, or not enough/too much room in your pack. Check the product description, features, specifications, and size guide to make sure you are ordering the right pack for you.
• Third party Repairs or replacements. Send your Osprey pack to Osprey and Osprey only to get fixed. Easy as that. And don't try fixing things yourself.
• Cosmetic wear and tear including any reasonable aging of your pack that affects only the appearance and not the function of your pack. Be proud of those scars!
• B.A.M.G. (Before All Mighty Guarantee) Repair Work. The All Mighty Guarantee applies only to repairs requested on or after January 1, 2009.
• A Osprey Hydraulics reservoir is covered by a limited 1-year warranty, which is the reasonable lifespan of a reservoir. Pouring and storing of warm/hot or boiling water in your reservoir WILL VOID your warranty, so don't do that. Reservoirs are NOT designed to contain or handle liquids at temperature.
