Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent stove, I now have two! I bought my first Optimus Nova in 2005 for motorcycle camping excursions, averaging 35 nights per year. Zero failures or disappointments. This summer we purchased a camping trailer and soon realized that we needed to have a second Nova. Moosejaw hooked us up. The new Nova (now with over 50 uses) sports a slightly different hose-to-tank coupler. Both old and new designs are easy to use and have never leaked. The selling point for me with the Nova has always been the location of the burner adjustment valve. Placing the valve directly on the burner instead of on the tank allows instant flame intensity changes. Burners with tank mounted valves tend to respond slowly to flame adjustments since the pressure change has to travel through the fuel hose. The Nova provides instant gratification from simmer to full tilt . The new model also has an on/off fuel valve on the top of the pump. This allows you to turn off the stove at the tank. Like the old Nova, you can flip the fuel tank and allow the flame to go out, insuring that all pressure is relieved from the tank before storing. The stove travels nicely in the pot of my cook kit. Well thought out, well made and bullet proof. An excellent owners manual (read it!), maintenance tool, extra fuel filter, o-rings, pump lube, wind shield and carrying bag included. You get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Owned this for the past month and have tried many different fuel types, even automotive gasoline. It takes a lot of practice to learn how to prime it properly, but it works very well after you overcome the learning curve. It does NOT come with a fuel bottle, so be sure to add one to cart. I brought this to the attention of a Moosejaw customer service rep, they updated the description and went out of their way to more than make things right. Excellent service, I'm very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love this stove I originally purchased this stove for backpacking, but have moved to an alcohol stove for solo trips in order to cut weight. This sucker is a little on the heavy side, but all tanks are. That said when car camping, or when with a group this stove can't be beat. Its super stable, the flame control is so precise you can cook a gourmet dinner on it, or crank it to melt snow. It doesn't have plastic parts, and has a self cleaning jet. I've had mine six years and have yet had to strip it down and clean it.,,,,You can burn motor fuel (gasoline or diesel fuel) in this stove in a pinch, but it does tend to clog the jet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as easy as a canister stove i was looking for a stove to cook lunch on at work, so i started with the easiest out there a canister stove ... so about half a million $5 cans of fuel later I started to think I may need something a little better than a pocket rocket.,,,,so here i am, it was on sale nice adjustable flame unlike most out there its not just an on or off stove.,,,,if i was shopping all over again I'd still pick this stove

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very versatile stove I've owned this stove for about a year now and have used it on three longer hikes in the Swedish mountains. So far I have not had any problems with it though I have used the cleaning tool after every use. It does take some time to learn how to pre-heat the stove but just experiment a couple of times at home in a safe area with the fuel you are likely to use the most. Its all about starting the stove at the right moment, when the pre-heating fuel is just about to burn out. ,,,,The only drawback I can think of is that it doesnt deliver the same amount of power as for instance the MSR XGK EX.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy One! I currently own three Multi-Fuel stoves. The MSR DragonFly, the Primus Vari-Fuel and the Optimus Nova. ,,The Nova is the most compact of the three with its curved legs. ,,The flame adjust is very good on both the MSR and the Nova, the Vari-Fuel only has a control knob on the fuel tank which causes a delay at the flame. ,,The Nova and Primus both have solid aluminum vs the brittle MSR plastic pumps...This is probably the largest differentiating factor. ,,The Nova and Vari both have the same style of fuel line purge that prevents you from getting sprayed with fuel.,,The Nova has a quick disconnect fuel line which the others do not. ,,To me, the Optimus Nova is the clear winner in all aspects.
