DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, comfortable, light. Ideal for side sleepers. Used for the first time on a section hike, the nights got down around 5-6 deg. Paired with a high R rating mat and a Nemo Fillo I was toasty and comfy as I normally sleep in the "can opener" position (one leg straight, other knee at 90deg bent). The stretch in the hip area enables knees up sleeping and the foot box kept my other foot warm. Gills work as advertised and enable the bag to vent heat easily. Had a few issues with zip snagging but otherwise bag performed perfectly. On warmer nights I rotated the bag 90deg anti-clockwise unzipped so that I could have my feet in the footbox and the rest of the open bag draped over me as a quilt. Perfect. I was closely considering a WM or Feathered Friend but the prices for a comparable temp bag challenged my budget and I was sold on the ability to use the Sonic 0 in warmer temps with the gills open. Don't believe reviews that deny the authenticity of the temp rating....I was in the bag at low single digit temps with only merino underwear and a merino t shirt, no socks. Any bag is part of a sleep system and I don't doubt my mat helped in ensuring a comfy experience. Great bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around winter bag I bought this for winter camping in the upper midwest (US) and I'm so glad that I did. It packs up small enough that you can bikepack with it. The materials and construction are top notch, including the 850 down fill. Be sure to pair it with an insulated pad. I use it with an OR Alpine Bivy and a Thermarest insulated pad, but Nemo seems to have good offerings for both of those, as well. I look forward to trying those out when its time for replacements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Bag I've had this bag for a few years. Used it first on Peru's Salkantay (18,000). No issues. Kilimanjaro in July '17 (16,000 base camp). No issues. I tend to run warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down the best piece of cold weather gear!! Had for about 18 months and have been warm well into the single digits. Was in Yosemite this weekend for an overnight low of 7 degrees and about a foot of snow where we were. Wasnt cold once in the night! I recommend this bag for anyone that is looking for a top notch cold weather bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rocked the Kilimanjaro Trek I begged, borrowed and was willing steal to get this bag before my trip to Kilimanjaro and it was worth it. I am 6ft tall and I highly recommend the Sonic long bag. This bag was incredible every step of the way up Kilimanjaro all the way up to base camp 16,000ft with temps from 15 to minus 8-10 degrees. I tend to run a bit warm in general, slept in my boxers and t-shirt for the entire trip with the vents open. Amazing bag, worth every penny. Roomy and easy to stretch out into several sleeping positions. I have had Camp 7 and Monte Bell bags before and this one smokes them all for comfort and warmth. Very lightweight. Stuff bag it comes with is could but it could even pack down smaller if needed. SOLID GEAR!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid for price Solid bag for the price, highly compressible, just the right amount of roomy and pretty true to comfort. The billow zippers are a little delicate but otherwise it's an awesome bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome cold-weather bag Have spent a 30-degree night in the back yard and a couple 20-degree nights in the mountains with this bag. Had to open the "gills" and strip off layers in both cases. I have no doubt this would be comfortable down to single digits or below, depending on your layering, ground insulation, etc. Draft collar and snug hood are good. Bag is incredibly light for this much warmth. In my book, $500 is still a lot of money, but you get a lot for your investment. I hope to never buy another sleeping bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Bag! Bought this bag a month ago and have had the opportunity to use it a handful of times. Last weekend it got down into the mid-teens and I was extremely comfortable. I tested the cooling zippers when I started getting overheated on a little warmer night and was impressed by how much I could cool down. There is plenty of shoulder room, which is generally my biggest problem with mummy bags. Overall this is a quality sleeping bag and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.
