The RECCO® Rescue System is two-part technology. Ski resorts and mountain rescue teams carry RECCO® detectors, which send out a search signal. RECCO® reflectors worn by skiers, riders and other outdoors people, bounce back a directional signal that directs the rescuer straight to the reflector. Unlike other technologies, multiple RECCO® reflectors on a person can improve detection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do yourself a solid.... But really, get this jacket. It's warm. It's flattering (oh sup, curves?). And best of all, it's functional (::applause::)! I had been in search of a jacket that I could use that I could wear casually as well as technically, and this completely fit the bill. I'm 5'8, athletic, and it fits beautifully. The length of sleeves and the back of the jacket (no whale tail) are perfect! Plus, it's a heck of a deal compared to some other brands (that start with an 'A', 'P', etc.), and it's just as reliable/awesome/bangin as the others. So far I've only used it in casual settings, but the true test will be boarding in Montana next month. I'll report back. MOOSEJAW, SAVE MY SPOT!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy it again I've been wearing this jacket for just over a month and have been very happy with it. Coming from a 3-in-1 jacket, this one is incredibly light in comparison, but just as warm. I also love that it doesn't have any velcro- the zipper liner is on the inside of the jacket instead of a exterior flap over the zipper- very smart design. The couple of things that need some tweaking: the hand warmer sleeve thingies are bit too tight, even for my tiny hands; The zipper zips a little hard; I have convinced myself this will get better as the jacket continues to break in. This jacket does not have armpit zippers, but I think it manages my body temperature well enough that I don't need them.,,It is true to size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light & Warm, with included bottle opener! My wife bought a North Face coat, but didn't like it because it felt tight and looked tight. Lately, It seems like many companies are making sizes smaller. This coat was a last minute purchase. I two day shipped the coat to my wife's hotel in NYC and Moosejaw came through. A couple days after receiving the coat my wife flew from NYC to Canada. The temperatures were in the single digits and the wind chills were in the negatives. My wife could not believe how warm she was considering the coat is lightweight She likes how it comes down to her thighs and has a removable hood. The hidden bottle opener is also a plus! This coat is a keeper!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Arms get cold... I bought this right before Christmas to wear in the harsh winter of northern Minnesota and was disappointed. My arms kept getting cold and the jacket wasn't as warm as I thought it would be. I had to put a down sweater underneath to stay warm in the sub-zero and low single digit temps. I do like that it's water repellant and windproof, but as far as warmth, I'd say this jacket is rated for about 30 degrees and warmer. Below that, even in New Mexico high country, the jacket failed me, and I hate to freeze. The fit was correct for a perfect fit, I'm 5-6, 150, but it left no room for easy layering, and I bought a large. If you want to layer, get the next size up. I'm going back to down. This jacket was a disappointment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous jacket for hardcore skier Great technical jacket! I'm a serious skier who hates being cold and likes the mobility of a light jacket while keeping me warm in subzero temps. I love the inner cuff lining that goes over your hand and the pockets. It has a cool balaclava pocket built in under the hood and saved the day when my daughter needed one. It's a super cool look with Caribbean blue pants. It's my first Moose jaw jacket and was pleasantly surprised with its quality compared to other highly respected brands I've owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovin' this coat! I bought this coat just before Christmas, and with no snow have not had a chance to ski in it yet. But did use it shopping in downtown Chicago. It is super warm, didn't feel the wind, and the inner large pockets where great for stuffing my hat and gloves in going in and out of stores. The only concern is the zipper, it does seem stiff as others had stated. But other than that I love all the features of this coat and can't wait to try it out on the slopes....Let it SNOW!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coolest Jacket Ever I bought this jacket for my mom for Christmas. And then I promptly bought myself one. I absolutely love the super soft fleece around the face and in the pockets, and the long length, and the thumb holes, and the multitude of pockets, and the bottle opener, and the ridiculous things written in it, and the fact that my mom loves hers though not nearly as much as I like mine. And also, it's crazy warm and wonderful. Best jacket I've ever owned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking but.... The jacket fits good and looks good but has some functional drawbacks...at least for an urban user like me: (1) hood is too big...wind blows through it and pushes if off my head, (2) neck closure could fit more snugly too for same reason and (3) the thumb holes in the arm openings catch my hand putting the jacket on and off making fast on and off (say to walk the dog or late for bus) difficult. Also not sure how warm it is...still checking that out.

What is the difference between black and crow/wine? Is the interior lining of both a wine/burgundy color?

Asked by: Julz
Hiya Julz, thanks for your question! Crow / Wine is last year’s color (2015) and Black is this year’s color (2016). The lining on the Crow / Wine color has more of a purple hue, while the Black is a deeper red. Hope this helps!

does this jacket have a DWR waterproof type coating that makes it waterproof? Or is it the two layer fabric with taped seams that makes it waterproof. thanks!

Asked by: Lori
Thanks for the question! The Mt. Elliott does not have DWR. The 2-layer fabric is seam sealed - which makes it waterproof and windproof. Hope this helps!

I normally wear a small in my tops but I never know what to buy for jackets. This seams warm enough to not need to layer like crazy. This is replacing a Spyder Jacket which I had to size up based on the reviews.... Should I size up on this jacket?

Asked by: hakunamata
Hiya hakunamata, thanks for your question! If you are size 2 or 4, the small should be fine. I am between size small and medium (size 6), and the small is a bit too snug on me. Hope this helps!
