RECCO Reflectors

RECCO® Reflectors
The RECCO® Rescue System is two-part technology. Ski resorts and mountain rescue teams carry RECCO® detectors, which send out a search signal. RECCO® reflectors worn by skiers, riders and other outdoors people, bounce back a directional signal that directs the rescuer straight to the reflector. Unlike other technologies, multiple RECCO® reflectors on a person can improve detection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect blend of design and versatility’s I tried a lot of jackets before making my choice. I even considered buying much more expensive coats from other brands, but the Moosejaw coat was the overall winner due to its price and complete set of feature not matched by others. I really love it ! The fit is good, the coat is relatively warm , windproof and rainproof. The hood covers the head comfortably without impairing peripheral vision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great overall jacket Jacket keeps you dry and warm with even just a t shirt. Has many pockets and the jacket itself is pretty light. Also has beer car opener which is very convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warmth and comfort. I bought this jacket primarily for hiking, but I’m really impressed with the comfort and wear it regularly. The many pockets were a pleasant surprise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bang for the Buck Bought this coat to replace a worn out winter jacket. This coat is warm and has excellent features such as being waterproof, an insulated hood, and surprises such as a balaclava and bottle opener in hidden pockets. For the past month the temps have been below 20 degrees and I have been warm in the coat ,a long sleeve T-shirt, and winter shorts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, functional and warm!! I was looking for a warm parka like jacket to wear in the snow. This is it! The insulation is warm but not bulky, the color (ocean) is so different it’s aweskme! So much better than plain black!! So many functional pockets, the neck zips nice and high, the good fits great and isn’t humongous! I love the bottle opener hidden in the inside pocket as I’m a craft beer fanatic! The thumb hole cuffs can go into most gloves easily but if you don’t want to use them they kind of tuck out of the way. It’s also pretty cool that it comes with a balaclava and has a hidden pocket to store it! All in all a great jacket. Got it on sale but worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, light and snug Have been using the jacket now for about a month and I love it. It is light, lots of pocket (I particularly like the outer left sleeve pocket for storing my travel wallet when visiting NYC) , plenty of room yet snug. The collar took a little getting used to - it is stiff and tall but zippers up nicely to keep your warm. I also like the sleeve lining for the hands - is it easy to choose to use the thumb wrap or not. It has kept me warm in the winter wind tunnels of NYC and at my home in upstate NY.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great warm coat Love this coat! Keeps me warm in single digit temps and I don’t have to deal with any darn feathers poking out because it doesn’t use down to warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile jacket This jacket is way better than I thought it'd be. It has tons of pockets (bonus points for the bottle opener in the inner left chest pocket). It has thumb holes for the sleeve cuffs, for making sure your sleeve stay put. The compartment for the included balaclava on the inside of the back of the neck is a great idea. The outside material feels like a soft but slightly slippery material. Reminds me somewhat of cross between the outside of sleeping bags and parachute material. That being said, it seems resilient. It's surprisingly effective. I tend to only use this below 25 degrees. The arms tend to get a little sweaty with anytime I do a little bit of exertion (like walking fast). That may be the only detriment to the jacket. Because the cuffs almost seal off your arms and there are no pit zips to provide venting, it can get hot. Overall, this jacket is a great one.

is this long enough for a 6'3 man?

Asked by: kate
Hey there, Thanks for the question. This coat comes in several sizes. The Medium has a back length of about 29", while the Large has a 39.5" and the Extra Large has a 40" length. While it would depend on your specific torso length, this jacket fits well length-wise on most people around your height who I've had try it on and falls at about hip length.

how heavy is this item? looking for a good coat but not one that is heavy

Asked by: Danette
Hey there, While this coat is not a heavy duty parka, it is designed to be worn in colder conditions and coupled with the tough waterproof outer fabric, the jacket itself is not super light weight. For an all-around jacket is is surprisingly light, though, weighing 33.6 oz and is also easy to move around in without the "puff" you get in other winter and down jackets, thanks to the PrimaLoft Silver insulation, which provides a lot of warmth without a lot of bulk. It would be a good choice if you are looking for a lighter coat that provides warmth and coverage even in the worst weather.

As far as insulation goes and how warm this jacket is, which jacket by patagonia or the north face would it be comparable to? Looking to make sure this jacket will keep me warm through this michigan winter. thanks!

Asked by: DetroitROC
Hiya DetroitROC, thanks for your question! It would be very difficult to compare this jacket to a different brand... but I can tell you it is very warm! It has 133 grams of PrimaLoft Silver insulation and 100gm of PrimaLoft Silver insulation in the sleeves and hood. (Most winter wear has between 60 and 150 grams of insulation.) Plus, the waterproof shell will protect you from the winter elements. Hope this helps!

I recently bought The North Face Men's Thermoball Triclimate Jacket, but I don't think the insulated lining will be warm enough is the Moosejaw Men's Insulated Waterproof jacket warmer? And what type of lining is inside.

Asked by: Chris C
Hiya Chris C, thanks for your question! Warmth is subjective and unique to each person. That said, the Thermoball insulation is designed to trap the heat generated from your body to increase warmth. It is meant to feel light and airy and should keep you warm during winter activities. The Mt. Elliott has a nylon lining with more grams of insulation, so it should feel a bit heavier and warmer. Both jackets will protect you from the winter wind and snow but I think the Mt. Elliot slightly edges out the Thermoball in warmth. If you don't mind the extra weight, give it a try. If you need something lightweight for hiking or snow sports, the Thermoball should be fine. Hope this helps!

im like 5'10" about 175 lbs, 32/33 in waist, i think a 42 in chest... what size should i get?

Asked by: kevin
Hey Kevin, Great question. If you don't plan to layer much, I would go with a medium. If you plan to wear a thicker sweater or hoody underneath, I would probably try a large. Description says waist length but photo appears hip length? I'm in a wheelchair so too long makes for bulky look. Any other SUPER warm waist coat suggestions?

Asked by: bjack
Hey there, Thanks so much for reaching out to us! Our Moosejaw Mt. Elliot jackets tend to settle on the hips verses the waist. This coat does not have a temperature rating. In fact, most coats do not have temperature ratings. This is for several reasons. Mainly, it's because warmth is a subjective thing, unique to each person. Not only that, but there are other factors that can affect a person's (jacket's) warmth: wind, humidity, activity level, what else your wearing, etc. However, there are still helpful hints you can use to guide you. Best bet will be to check the insulation on jackets of your fave brand(s) :)

MOOSEJAW MEASUREMENT GUIDE

How to Measure

To get the most accurate measurement, use a flexible measuring tape and refer to the measuring guide info below.

CHEST - Measure around your chest, holding the measuring tape under your armpit. Please refrain from flexing for a more accurate measurement. You can flex after.

WAIST - Measure around your waist at the narrowest part. Then multiply it by 1.

HIP - Measure around your hips at the widest part. This is where all your hipness lies.

SLEEVE - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist. Do it in front of a mirror. Then flex again. Yep, still got it.
