Rated 4 out of 5 by from Such a splendid coat this is I fell in love with this the moment I tried it on. It fits like a glove that you wear around your upper, a jacket. It's got a ton of pockets which, if cargo shorts are any indicator, are going to make people look up to you as a true fashion pioneer. It even has a bottle opener attached to an elastic string in one of the chest pockets so you'll never have to deal with bloody fingers or a chipped tooth ever again while trying to crack open a cold one. The hood has a dual purpose of keeping your hair dry while also making you look like a complete goon while it's on, so you'll need to decide if a few moments of embarrassment in the rain are worth preserving your assumingly fabulous hairstyle. As far as the fit goes, I'm 6' and 175lbs and I wear a small, although if I could go back I would probably order a medium just to give myself a little more wiggle room. Anyway, get this jacket because I said so and most people that take my advice end up not regretting it. I will say that after a couple months I did have to swap the first jacket out due to some of the stitching coming undone on one of the sleeves, however it seems to be an isolated incident because I was the only one in the store at the time with the same issue and the world doesn't exist outside of my own personal experiences.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as a lightweight ski jacket Just a few quick comments - got this as a backup for a more serious ski coat. Ended up using this jacket for most of a 5 day ski trip to Colorado. Temps were 25-50 degrees with some serious wind/snow on the last day. With a good thermal shirt and this jacket - I was just fine. Worked great against some serious wind on the lifts. I did find the left front pocket useful for phone with a passthrough for wired earphones. I thought I would like to have an inside pocket, but it ended up not being that bid of a deal. I will say that you can not have too many layers under the jacket - it is pretty form fitting at my size which was XL. Seems to be put together very well and is less expensive compared to some of the top tier brands. Overall, exactly what I wanted and it worked out very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket!! I purchased this primarily to wear on my daily bike commute, but also wear it for fitness riding. It fits well and has a bit of stretch, which is nice. It isn't insulated, so I occasionally layer a wind-blocker vest underneath. The hand pockets are just a teeny bit on the shallow side - I did loose a pair of sunglasses on a ride home because I forgot to zip up the pocket - but overall, this is a fantastic and stylish jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoughtfully Formed I thought the features of the softshell were unique. I like the placement of the breast pockets and the overall fit is snug the way I hoped.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket Love this jacket, size was true. Really like the fact that this jacket offered long sizes. The only issue I have is that the cuffs are not adjustable. Super comfortable and keeps me dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Top Layer! I got this about a month ago. I'm a big fan of layering, so this uninsulated version works out perfectly! As many other reviewers mention, if you will be layering and are curious about fit/size, then go one size up, as the pits are kinda tight. Outside of that, I'm very happy with my purchase and this thing keeps the wind off my nips ;) Also, +10 to MooseJaw for the hidden treasure in the left breast pocket! Don't worry, I wont ruin the surprise for anyone. Just buy it and you'll see what I'm talkin about.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all around jacket Used this jacket when traveling to Europe this winter. I endured the cold and rain with this jacket. Great variety of pockets and look. I wish it did have an inner concealed pocket, but that’s ok. The arm length was a tad long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light-weight Jacket. I ordered this jacket for my brother using Moose Money. My brother likes light jackets to wear over hoodies, etc. This jacket was exactly the type he prefers to wear. It is lined with many pockets and looks good (I got it in Black with a little red). My brother is about 5’8 or 9” and about 155-160 lbs. I got him a large and it fits good. He has room the wear heavy shirts underneath if it is cold outside. He wears the jacket everday with a heavier shirt underneath if it is cold. We live in Boston and the weather has been unseasonably cold. We had a cold front for two weeks in which the temperature did not get above 20 F. The jacket kept him warm. I wouldn’t recommend the jacket for wearing outside all day in the cold without layering. It is more of a lined light-weight jacket that keeps you dry and blocks the wind. It’s good for working outside in non-heated homes or an everyday jacket for commuting to work. Overall, it’s a great jacket for layering or for fall/early spring weather.

Would you recommend this jacket to be used as a rain coat?

Asked by: RainHater
Hi there, thanks for your question! This jacket has DWR (Durable Water Repellent) but it is not waterproof. It should be fine in light showers or isolated rain showers, but it would not be ideal for consistent rain or torrential downpours. I would not consider it a rain jacket but it will offer rain protection in a pinch. Hope this helps!

Im 6ft 200lbs with broad shoulders. Should I order the XL or L?

Asked by: Exskier10
Thanks for the question! The Harper Hooded Jacket is longer and slightly slim fitting. If you are planning on wearing thin clothing underneath, I would get the Large. If you think you will need to add layers for those cold days, I would go with the Extra Large. I hope this helps a little!

Hi! Follow up questions: What's the length of the main zipper on a small? What kind of lining does the jacket have? Are there interior pockets?

Asked by: Jackie27
Hi there Purple Mongoose! The zipper measures 28 inches in length. There is no lining, this is a soft shell jacket. There are no interior pockets.

How does this jacket compare to the North Face's Apex Bionic 2 Hoodie? Thanks!

Asked by: Jackie27
Hi Purple Mongoose! The two jackets are very similar, however, the Moosejaw Men's Harper Hooded Softshell Jacket has a few bells and whistles. There are 2 extra exterior pockets (an additional chest pocket and one on the sleeve), an adjustable hood with a drawstring and a media port on the inside. Besides that, the biggest difference is that the North Face Men's Apex Bionic 2 Jacket has a soft fleece lining.

What are the pockets made of? Are they lined in any way?

Asked by: Jackie27
Hiya Jackie27, thanks for your question! The pockets have a soft "micro fleece" like polyester lining. Hope this helps!

I am 6'1" and 190 lbs. want to use the jacket in varying temperatures, ranging from 50 degrees down to high 20 degrees. So I need some room for layering underneaththe jacket. Do I order large or extra large.

Asked by: Harper hooded softshell
Hi there, thanks for your question! This jacket might run a bit small in the shoulders and underarms and since you plan to wear plenty of layers underneath it, I would recommend sizing up. Hope this helps!
