Rated 4 out of 5 by from Such a splendid coat this is I fell in love with this the moment I tried it on. It fits like a glove that you wear around your upper, a jacket. It's got a ton of pockets which, if cargo shorts are any indicator, are going to make people look up to you as a true fashion pioneer. It even has a bottle opener attached to an elastic string in one of the chest pockets so you'll never have to deal with bloody fingers or a chipped tooth ever again while trying to crack open a cold one. The hood has a dual purpose of keeping your hair dry while also making you look like a complete goon while it's on, so you'll need to decide if a few moments of embarrassment in the rain are worth preserving your assumingly fabulous hairstyle. As far as the fit goes, I'm 6' and 175lbs and I wear a small, although if I could go back I would probably order a medium just to give myself a little more wiggle room. Anyway, get this jacket because I said so and most people that take my advice end up not regretting it. I will say that after a couple months I did have to swap the first jacket out due to some of the stitching coming undone on one of the sleeves, however it seems to be an isolated incident because I was the only one in the store at the time with the same issue and the world doesn't exist outside of my own personal experiences.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Jacket! I gave this jacket as a gift to my husband and he won't stop wearing it! He is very picky and this is by far his favorite jacket out of his collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the Long Haul I bought this jacket because... Portland. It rains. I use public transport and ride a bike. My daughter competes in track meets in the wind and rain and whatever else happens along. I also have a long torso and short legs, so the tall size option is a godsend, too. Oh, and I drink beer, too!! This jacket seems to know me better than my first wife!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very warm I bought this for bike commuting and I think it might not breathe/vent well enough for that. Gets pretty sweaty in there. Very nice for more casual use. Well made and good looking. Good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great jacket! Love it! Size: I am 190cm tall with 100kg man. Size L is perfect in length and in sleeves. In this jacket I look much slimmer than usual. My normal weight is about 92kg so size L will be absolutely perfect for my size. Men morning muscular than me would maybe go for XL but I like tighter fit. On a first day I was cought in a medium rain. Jacket surface is water resistant and I can confirm that. I would say that it is not super wind resistant but it protects you well from medium strength wind. Conclusion: I love it. Well done MooseJaw. It looks and feels very comfortable

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Softshell This softshell is on the thicker side and feels like a quality piece. The hood fits perfect over head, not meant for helmet. The texture inside and out is very nice to the touch. It's also a bit stretchy and allows full overhead movement without pulling. The fit is trim. I'm 5'11", 196 lbs, 44 chest, 34-35 waist and the large fit closer to the body (modern look) without under layers. I would order a size up if layering a med-heavy fleece or down sweater. The only thing I don't like is the armpit is cut a little high. I considered returning for an XL but this is a long jacket with long sleeves and I'm worried about length.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Jacket I bought this about a month ago because I wanted a windproof jacket. The jacket meets or exceeds everything that I wanted. I normally just wear it with a fleece or vest under it when very cold out and by itself when cool. The chest packet will accommodate an iPhone 7plus which is definitely a positive. Having the jacket available in tall sizes is another plus, no more off the "my how you have grown" look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good replacement for my old NF Apex Bionic I've had this jacket for a couple of months, which I bought as a replacement for my well-worn North Face Apex Bionic. This jacket is very slightly thinner material, but really high quality. It is good for the cool drizzly days in Cleveland, and can be worn in messy frozen days with my down sweater underneath. The quality and features are well worth the discounted price I paid and the look is right. I got multiple compliments on it the first day I wore it. My only complaint is that he hood is stiff enough that it bunches behind my head if I don't have it up, but not so much so that it makes much difference. I'm 5'6" and 140lbs and the small is just right. Slim enough to look good, but enough room to layer underneath if it's really cold.

Im 6ft 200lbs with broad shoulders. Should I order the XL or L?

Asked by: Exskier10
Thanks for the question! The Harper Hooded Jacket is longer and slightly slim fitting. If you are planning on wearing thin clothing underneath, I would get the Large. If you think you will need to add layers for those cold days, I would go with the Extra Large. I hope this helps a little!

Hi! Follow up questions: What's the length of the main zipper on a small? What kind of lining does the jacket have? Are there interior pockets?

Asked by: Jackie27
Hi there Purple Mongoose! The zipper measures 28 inches in length. There is no lining, this is a soft shell jacket. There are no interior pockets.

How does this jacket compare to the North Face's Apex Bionic 2 Hoodie? Thanks!

Asked by: Jackie27
Hi Purple Mongoose! The two jackets are very similar, however, the Moosejaw Men's Harper Hooded Softshell Jacket has a few bells and whistles. There are 2 extra exterior pockets (an additional chest pocket and one on the sleeve), an adjustable hood with a drawstring and a media port on the inside. Besides that, the biggest difference is that the North Face Men's Apex Bionic 2 Jacket has a soft fleece lining.

What are the pockets made of? Are they lined in any way?

Asked by: Jackie27
Hiya Jackie27, thanks for your question! The pockets have a soft "micro fleece" like polyester lining. Hope this helps!

HOLA! how would one say this compares to Patagucci's Levitation Hoody and / or adze jacket?  GRACIAS!

Asked by: joeKnowsBo
Hey joeKnowsBo, Thanks for reaching out to us. Our Harper Hooded Softshell is the heaviest in weight compared to the Patagonia Levitation Hoody and Adze jacket. The Harper and Adze are both wind & water resistant, while the Levitation is water resistant but may let through more air. The Harper & Levitation are both stretchy, while the Adze has a fleece lining. The Harper and Levitiation both have a drawcord hem, while the Adze has a flat cinch hem. To top it off, the Harper & the Levitation both have hoods while the Adze does not. I hope this helps!
