Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Husband loves it! Just recently moved out west to the mountains and my husband didn't have a coat like this. With all the outdoorsy things we like to do, he needed more than just the heavy duty fleece he usually wears. Well he LOVES it. Fits true to size, isn't too bulky or too thin, and it keeps him at a very comfortable temp. he and I both love Moosejaw brand, always great quality!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm and Comfortable! Love this coat. It's been a mild winter which actually makes me sad because I want to wear my coat more often. Great purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel Canada goose warm Maybe I'm being optimistic but this jacket was actually surprisingly warm. I tried this on as well as a Canada goose jacket in the store in Chicago and I walked out with the moose jaw jacket. My previous Jacket was a Patagonia that had lasted me about seven years. I think this one will take me for at least another seven

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable and reasonably warm I must have tried on twenty winter coats before deciding on this one. The fabric seems more durable than the lighter denier of other down jackets. I like the cut and length, particularly the drop tail in the back which provides nice coverage for Chicago winters. The side pockets have a nice lining, which makes makes warm and comfortable. At that 6'0" 175lbs a medium fits perfectly, with enough room for layering underneath. I wore this with a medium weight sweater underneath and was quite warm in the teens with windy conditions. The hood is also a great addition because it helps block out cold air coming in around the neck. I could take or leave the thumb hole sleeves, as I often just bunch them up inside. It is a tad bulkier than other down coats (like a down sweater or Marmot Zeus) but for casual wear around town it is a good value and cannot be beat when on sale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alaska bound Have not yet put it to the test but after much research it appears to be just what I need for a motorcycle trip from Florida to Alaska, mostly for in camp not riding.

What would be the minimum temperature comfort range for this jacket?

Asked by: todabeach
Hey there, This jacket has a wide range of temperatures it can be comfortably worn in. We designed the jacket to stand alone on moderately cold days or layer with the new Moosejaw Men's Mack Ave 1/4 Zip Fleece when the temps drop. However, we do still suggest wearing pants, but don't let us tell you what to do.

I am a woman, 5'6", 130 lbs. I am looking for a warm jacket that I can use for chores (I live on a farm). None of the women's down coats I have looked at have the features this one has. Will small be too small or just right?

Asked by: Deborah
Thanks for the question! We do not normally recommend Men's outer wear for Women as their jackets tend to be broader, have shorter sleeves, and a shorter hip length. With that being said, I would order one size smaller from your normal size (in women's). The Men's Small will fit a chest size 36-38", waist 29-31", hip 35-38", and a sleeve length of 35 inches. If you are in that range, I think you found a winner!

Will this be comfortable in the colder and windy conditions in Minnesota? Especially in Duluth region?

Asked by: niraj
Thanks for the question! Yes, the Moosejaw Men's Baseline Down Jacket will def work for those harsh Minnesota winters. It is down-filled and wind-resistant. Keep in mind that does not mean it is windproof. I would check out the Moosejaw Men's Mt. Elliott Insulated Waterproof Jacket. It is insulated with PrimaLoft©, waterproof, and windproof. Many of us here at Moosejaw wear that piece for our Michigan winters. I included a link below for you to check it out. Hope this helps!

How to Measure

To get the most accurate measurement, use a flexible measuring tape and refer to the measuring guide info below.

CHEST - Measure around your chest, holding the measuring tape under your armpit. Please refrain from flexing for a more accurate measurement. You can flex after.

WAIST - Measure around your waist at the narrowest part. Then multiply it by 1.

HIP - Measure around your hips at the widest part. This is where all your hipness lies.

SLEEVE - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist. Do it in front of a mirror. Then flex again. Yep, still got it.
