Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE this pack!! I've been searching for the perfect, comfortable, big-yet-not-too-big backpack that I could use as my airplane carryon bag for everything I don't want to put in my checked luggage AND still have enough room for my DSLR, without being too heavy to carry. It's been amazingly difficult to find a backpack that would work for me. Until I found Esteban. I recently used Esteban on a trip to Cape Cod and it (he?) was perfect. I was amazed at how much I was able to pack into this thing, and yet my back didn't ache walking around the airport (and I had a lot of walking to do between terminals at O'Hare). The load-lifting straps definitely helped with that (so many other packs this size don't have the load-lifting straps) - love that feature!! Personally, I'm a fan of the one big open compartment rather than separate compartments because I can fit more stuff in the pack that way. Inside I was able to fit: my e-reader, an extra set of clothes, DSLR w/ extra lens in a case, point & shoot camera, sunglasses case, journal, travel pillow, zippered bag with all my charging cords/plugs and miscellaneous items, purse, snacks, and a baseball hat ... with room to spare. The zippered pocket on the front was the perfect place to put my book; the zippered pocket on the side was where I stashed my fountain pen case; and I used the little hidden pocket at the back for hand sanitizer and bandaids (always be prepared!). And it fit easily under the seat in front of me. Thank you Moosejaw and Osprey for doing such a great job on this pack!! It has everything I wanted, and some things I didn't know I wanted, but am happy to have (like the hidden back pocket). I've only used Esteban once, but I feel like the pack will hold up well and I look forward to many more adventures with him (it?).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on the plane and in the jungle I bought my Osprey Esteban for a recent trip to Nicaragua. It was great as a carry on on the plane, carrying my swimsuit, towel and snacks to the beach, or carrying binoculars, water, camera and snacks on a trek in the jungle. Built tuff, smooth zippers, large storage space for raincoat, smaller pockets for GoPro, wallet, and passport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nonstop features I bought this product a few months ago and I am still finding new uses for the different features. It's held up so well plus the bike lock is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So good I'll use it again! First things first- I have a bag problem. Actually the bags have the problems. I am just hyper-aware of theri collective shortcomings. Just like pornography, the perfect bag is hard to define but I'll know it when I see it. This one is really good- great for a two-nighter city trip with room for a laptop, two each of your basic clothing items (in an organizer cube thingy) a dopp kit and enough extra space for a light jacket and some snacks. There are some great external pockets for all the little flotsam required for surviving air travel as an introvert- I especially like the two vertical pockets on the front and the fact that they differ in shape and orientation. Comfort is good as well- need to spend some more time dodging roller bags to break it in but no concerns for now. My only real issue is no dedicated access to my laptop. I knew this was a sleeve-equipped, top-zipper main compartment access bag to the laptop and tablet area and hoped I could get past it. I will actually try to get past it with bag. I like it that much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect everyday pack! I was in search of a solid “everyday” style backpack. Read some great reviews on MooseJaw’s website and took a chance. Couldn’t be happier. Great organization (for admin/computer/clothes/etc) and well designed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pack! I practically live out of a backpack. Between working at a Fire department, and a part time job, I need to be able to take certain amenities with me on the go, changes of clothes, phone chargers, etc. I've had this pack for about two weeks, and I can already tell you it's everything you'll ever need out of a daypack. More than enough storage, pockets are everywhere. And the pockets are well thought out and organized. The water bottle pockets were meant for a 32 ounce nalgene. They fit like a glove there. The pack is comfortable, lightweight, and built tough. With a backing from moosejaw AND osprey, surely this pack was meant to last. Do yourself a favor and get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my dogs don't care about it:( I've had this for about 6 months now and feel good about a review. I originally bought this for work but unfortunately it didn't pan out. This is a true commuter pack and should be based only on that criteria. The pack is unbelievable and comfortable compared to other commuter packs on the market. It's profile is very clean and functional. I can not stress enough how comfortable it is. Other packs just don't ride very well. They have excellent organization but lack the primary reason for a backpack. The pockets and smaller organization is well thought out. I use this pack strictly for chilln at the water front and hanging out downtown. My only suggestion for maybe a revision in the future would be a second hidden pocket and make it in Kelly Green and Gold. Just saying!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pack for Life ! I went to the Moosejaw store to pick out a pack. You are able to see and check out all the packs and if they don't have it there they will get it there in a couple days for you to try out.. Moosejaw had it right collaborating with Osprey on this one. Fits woman well, fits all your gear , tons of pockets and straps and breathable. Good for a day or two trip. Light weight and I love the blue color.

Does this pack come with some sort of hip belt or is there an attachable hip belt available for purchase and attachment?

Asked by: g_rant
Hiya g_rant, thanks for your question! Unfortunately, there is no hip belt available for this pack. We don't have any customization facilities here at our warehouse. You could contact a tailor that works with industrial fabrics and see if a generic hip belt can be added. Sorry about that!

How is the sizing? Do you think it would fit for a 5''3 woman as a running commute bag? Thank you!

Asked by: Di Sha
Hey there, The Esteban comes in one size and measures 19" high and 13" across, so it should fit you well. It contains a adjustable sternum strap so it should be totally secure when you are commuting!

How is the back ventilations? I tried on an osprey pack with a similar ventilation scheme and it didn't seem to ventilate too effectively. I'm in between getting this and the radial backpack by osprey.

Asked by: DanD
This pack has some ventilation mesh panels on the back, but I would suggest going with the radial if that is your main concern. The radial has a suspended mesh AirSpeed™ backpanel with nubbed foam and side vents and is made to have excellent back ventilation.

I don't have to duck under the overhead bins in planes or walking under tree branches. But I had to return a women's cycling pack because it hit the back of my head when riding. Is this pack petite-friendly?

Asked by: MelonLord
Thanks for the question! The Esteban measures 19" high and 13" across. I am 5'3" and would consider myself petite and this pack fits me. The top does not come up that high, so I don't think your head will hit the back. Depending on how small your torso is, you could potentially rub against the handle that is on the top of the bag. If you give it a try and it doesn't work out, you can always send it back :)

What is that Ulock, what is it used for? Why didn't they install a built in rain cover in a pocket on the bottom or something?

Asked by: walker
Hiya walker, thanks for your question! This pack has U-Lock attachment points for storing your lock when you're not using it. (The U-Lock isn't included.) Since it can be stored on the outside of the pack, it saves space on the inside of the pack. The pack is water resistant, but will wet out if exposed to consistent rain or dropped in the water. The size medium Osprey Ultralight Raincover should fit this pack. Sadly, there's only so many features we can include with this product without the price going up, but I will pass your feedback along to our designers. Hope this helps!
