Marmot Down Defender

Marmot Down Defender
Marmot Down Defender helps prevent down from clumping when exposed to water or moisture. This allows it to keep its loft, which equates to greater insulation. Nothing will stop the specially treated, highly water-resistant down from trapping warm air next to your body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and stylish! I received this coat as a gift for Christmas and subsequently the northeast got hit with a “bomb vortex” in which temps rarely exceeded 30 degrees and often hovered below zero with the wind chill. This coat out performed any other down coat I’ve owned. I bought it after being seriously disappointed in my flimsy Patagonia Fiona down coat. The Marmot Strollbridge is functional (due to its exceeding warmth in spite of very low temps), stylish with its contoured lines and faux fur lined hood, and stands out from the sea of dark colors generally seen from down coats since I got it in a beautiful, deep peacock color! I couldn’t be happier! As an aside, I’m 5’7” and 105 lbs and went with an XS. The length and fit are fantastic, though I maybe should’ve gotten a small to allow for more room when wearing bulkier sweaters. However, the arm length is ample as is the coat length itself, and it fits well even with fleeces and hoodies, but may have been slightly more comfortable in the next size up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful jacket, but not a coat! The good: I loved the fit, it was very flattering, and the magnetic closures over the zippers are brilliant. The hidden inside pocket is nice, the fur lined hood is soft and the whole thing feels well made. The bad: I was looking for a coat to wear in 0-25 F temperatures. Too late after ordering it, I realized it says "jacket" and sure enough, when I put it on, I can already tell it will not be warm enough for below freezing temperatures. I'm very sensitive to cold so unfortunately I am returning it for a thicker coat. You'd be fine if you're in socal, but to anyone in the northeast, I'd recommend something warmer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm Bought this for my wife for Christmas and she loves it. Very warm! The zipper isn’t as easy as most but overall very nice jacket. I would recommend this product to friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super comfy and stylish! I love this coat....It's super warm, has deep pockets!!!, and has a nice shape to it unlike a lot of down coats. The magnetic flap closure is a really nice feature as well. My only caveat is that the zipper can be really hard to just doesn't seem to line up correctly. However Moosejaw was really helpful and is sending a new one to see if it was just that particular coat. And they didn't make me send the old one back first which was amazing considering its been in the negatives for over a week and no end in sight! Crossing my fingers that the new one has a better zipper because I love this coat and get lots of compliments about the teal color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light warmth I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend, and she loves it. It's true to size, and though it looks sleek, it is very warm. It's been in single digits here and she has been comfortable. The bottom puffs out a little, like a skirt, but she says she likes it that way. It does look great on her.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Christmas gift My wife has been admiring these type of coats for months now. Our son plays on a junior hockey team, so we spend alot of time at the rink, both home and away. This is the perfect coat for keeping her comfortable while watching the game. She absolutely loves it. Ha, Ha,. I did GOOD!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Coat On reading other reviews of this jacket being "light weight", I was worried that the outer fabric would get snagged easily and I would leave a trail of feathers...But NO! It's lightweight with a sturdy outer fabric! Love the magnetic closure, the long arms, tall neck and deep zippered pockets. Perfect daily "run around town" winter jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best jacket ever! I bought this for North Jersey winters. It's the best winter jacket I have ever owned. Super comfortable and warm. I tried on an XL and a Large, as I am a little busty but usually wear a large. The XL just had too much room. I would say it was better suited for a size 14 and up. Extremely happy and cozy with this jacket!

Is there a temperature rating for this coat?

Asked by: Jennoid
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Actually, this coat does not have a temperature rating. In fact, most coats do not have temperature ratings. This is for several reasons. Mainly, it's because warmth is a subjective thing, unique to each person. Not only that, but there are other factors that can affect a person's (jacket's) warmth: wind, humidity, activity level, what else your wearing, etc. However, there are still helpful hints you can use to guide you! Best bet will be to check the insulation. The higher the fill, the warmer the jacket. That should be your basic rule of thumb. For this jacket, it has a 700 fill power down with Down Defender! That's a great sign that this jacket will be keeping you warm. Hope this helped you out! Hugsies

How does this jacket fit to size?  I’m debating between two sizes. If the sizing lends room for sweaters, then I won’t need to size up. Thanks

Asked by: CathyH
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! Did you know that this jacket was named after the designer took a stroll over a bridge? True Story. Probably. Anywhooo....this jacket will fit true to size. If you normally wear a large with a sweater underneath, you'll be fine with a large for this item. With a sweater underneath! Hope this helps you out. Hugsies!

Is this jacket wind Proof?

Asked by: sfurst
That's a great question! Unfortunately, the Strollbridge Jacket is only water-resistant. It does not have any wind protection. I would check out the Chelsea Coat instead as it is down-filled & windproof. I included a link below. Hope this helps!

I currently have a down coat and the feather are constantly coming out of it.  What can you tell me about the materiel of this coat and do the feathers STAY inside?

Asked by: Dawn
That's a great question! The Strollbridge Jacket is not known to lose constantly, but it will lose them naturally over time. The main material is 100% Polyester. I hope this information helps!

I may have missed it, but is this coat machine washable?

Asked by: JonWa
That's a great question! The Strollbridge is machine washable on cold and tumble dry low with a couple pairs of clean tennis balls. It is advised to remove the fur trim and spot clean that part separately. Hope this helps!
