The Marmot Women's Scree Pant is a softshell pant for mild to cool weather hiking, skiing, and climbing. The Scree uses Marmot's M3 softshell fabric, a combination of nylon and elastane to provide water resistance, breathability, and durability to cover your lower half. The stretchiness will allow you to move, bend, and lunge your way up the rock face, zig-zag through switchbacks and ski your way down a mountain. The zippered hand pockets and single thigh pocket prevent items from dumping out when you least expect it. The zip ankles open wide to accommodate larger boots and easier on/off when you're in a hurry to get to dinner post-adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from scree pant a hiker's dream I purchased a pair in dark steel size 6 length regular (31-32"). I am 5' 3.5" and weigh 135#and they fit me beautifully. I have muscular thighs from biking/hiking and they are roomy enough to accommodate with plenty of stretch. I have worn these on about 10 -12 winter hikes this season (2014-2015) 4-5 hour hikes (7-15 miles depending on grade) and they are very breathable. I live in CT and have been adding a base layer underneath as temps can get to zero with windchill. I keep very warm in these, while not waterPROOF, they are HIGHLY water resistant with some moderate windproof ability as well. Material is tough but comfortable and doesn't rip, tear, or snag on tree branches or prickers. Well worth the price tag! Am purchasing a 2nd pair in black.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all-around pants but run extremely small I purchased these pants for winter horseback riding and general work around the barn, on the recommendation of a fellow rider. They are warm, weather resistant, durable and very comfortable and stretchy but they run surprisingly small, even with the elastic waistband. I normally wear a size 0 or 2 pants (5'4", 110 lbs) and purchased a size 4 because I wanted them to be roomy and comfortable with thermal leggings underneath. Super tight!! Also could ideally be longer, but that is not as much of an issue. I will keep the 4 to wear when the weather warms up, and plan to purchase a size 6 for the intended use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants! Breathable, flexible, and water-resistant, these are my favorite pants for mountaineering and early/late season rock climbing. They are very stretchy, offering a good range of motion. Because of the durable and water-replant fabric, you can even glissade in these with minimal bottom soaking. True to other comments, the legs on these pants are on the roomier side, which is great for me! I have an athletic build with very muscular legs, so I appreciate the room. I have two pairs of these pants, one of which arrived with defective stitching at the crotch (i.e. a gaping hole below the zipper), but a quick run at the sewing machine fixed that problem. Other than that, these pants have shown little wear with a lot of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as advertised. Bought these pants as a "cold" weather hiking pant for the Adirondacks. When I first opened the package I thought they would be way to light to do the job, however, upon wearing them up a 4500' mountain this fall in 32 degree temps I realize they are just what I needed. Also love that they come in a shorter length for my 5'2" frame. Waist is a bit loose which surprises me since I do weight a sturdy 138lbs but a belt fixed that. Love these pants!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pants for what I bought them for. I bought these for work at an ice arena and they are the best. Water beads right off them which is exactly what I was looking for. I'm 5'1", 105 lbs so I went with the 4/short and they fit great over a base layer, but are slightly loose in the waist. I like how high up they sit. It's more comfortable for me. Love the zippered pockets which feel fleece lined and are large enough to zip my 5" smartphone in. Side pocket is handy for keys or my pocket knife.Very happy with these pants. Not the warmest pants, especially on windy days, but I'm mostly inside the rink with them on so they're warm enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart pants I have two pairs because I loved my black ones so much I also bought grey. They are a perfect fit - I have strong thighs and butt from hiking, climbing and cycling and love the comfortable stretch. They look good and have smart features. The thigh pocket is perfect for passport and boarding passes and they look as good at the airport as they do on the hill. Please don't change the fit! Some more color options would be great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good quality, poor fit I was super excited when I got these pants in preparation for a climbing trip this summer. They are great quality and look great. Because of the reviews I read on the Scree Pant, I had sized up to a 6 from my usual size of 4. When I tried them on I was very disappointed. Despite sizing up, they were still more snug than I would have liked. The waist was high and tight, and the inseam was too short. I'm very disappointed and will be sending them back for something else. Going up another size to an 8 could help, but I am not sold on the cut of the pants to try it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great selection I bought these for hiking and snowshoeing anytime the temps are around 45-50 or lower. So far I've only used them in dry (no snow) conditions as we're having an unusually warm and dry fall. I like the fit; they move with me well. I kind of wish the waist was just a touch lower, but it's not a deal breaker. Marmot products, especially pants/shorts, fit me well, so it's my go-to brand. Some people thought the fit was large; I disagree. It's pretty spot-on for me, even a touch tight, but will also serve as a reminder to pass up those desserts and get outside.
