The Marmot Women's Montreal Coat is a down coat for exploring winter cities. The Montreal uses 700 fill down that has been treated with Down Defender for moisture resistance. The high power down keeps the jacket lightweight, without sacrificing warmth. The interior is lined with fleece for cozy softness against the body with micro fleece internal cuffs to deter pesky drafts from being sent up your arms. Slip your hands into the lined side pockets for even more toasty micro fleece to turn up the heat. The outside pockets, as well as one of the interior pockets, zip shut to prevent wallet, keys, or your gloves from making a trip into a puddle of slush. Cover the tops of your legs (tush, butt, posterior, ect) with this mid-length coat for a winter without the chills.

Marmot Down Defender

Marmot Down Defender
Marmot Down Defender helps prevent down from clumping when exposed to water or moisture. This allows it to keep its loft, which equates to greater insulation. Nothing will stop the specially treated, highly water-resistant down from trapping warm air next to your body.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Coat I bought this coat in the midnight navy and worried it would be to shiny. It isn't. Color is beautiful. What I like about this coat is that the material is not stiff like some coats. It is not over stuffed so you can't move and Chicago recently turned cold and this coat is real warm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight and Warm I live in a very cold area of Canada and I walk to work, so I am obsessed with finding warm outerwear! I am 5' 5" and 120 lbs, and the small fit me fine. The coat is very warm for its weight. Until -20 C (-5 F) I don't need an extra sweater, but colder than that I wear an extra hoodie underneath. The coat is a darker navy blue than the photo online indicates. Pros: -Nice length; it comes down to the end of my fingertips -Cozy fleece lining -The hood stays on in the wind and keeps my face warm. The fur can also be flipped back for more visibility :) -Zippered pockets on the outside and two interior pockets = jacket can become your purse in the winter!! -It does block the wind. Cons: -I would have liked the cuffs around the wrists to be longer. I think this would be an issue for people with long arms. -I would have liked there to be snaps on the front, for extra wind protection and so you don't have to always zip up the coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Coat in Style and Function I bought this coat a few weeks ago just in time for the cold Chicago weather to hit. It is so nice and toasty! It is also practical because it is not constricting like some coats that are too long or bulky. I can easily get in and out of the car, and when I'm walking the kids to school or taking the dog for a walk it has nice movement and flexibility. It also is very stylish, I have had many compliments on the color and fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very very warm Im so happy i bought this coat. You can literally wear a long sleeve shirt underneath this and be super warm, you might even sweat in it a little. (30 degrees Fahrenheit) The hoodie covers your face a bit but thats fine in very cold weather or when its snowing. The faux fur is very nice and soft. 10/10

Rated 3 out of 5 by from After 2 years, wear on arms and sides look dirty I have owned the purple version of this coat through 2 winters. This winter I'll need to buy a new coat, because the arms near the cuffs and the sides near the pockets got worn out and look darker. I have washed the coat and scrubbed those areas, but cleaning doesn't fix it. It seems like the material just turned darker with rubbing over time. Family members keep telling me my sleeves are dirty, so I imagine coworkers and strangers think the same : ( I'm disappointed, because I love this coat. I'm 5'0" and about 95lbs and it fits so well! I can never find coats that I don't drown in. It has always kept me warm and I'm the type to normally run cold. Perfect for DC winters. Hopefully another Marmot coat will still have the slim fit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Narrow shoulders, tight arms I'm 5'8", 150 lbs with a slim, athletic build and I ordered a medium. It was way too small, but really only in the shoulders and chest, everything else (length, waist, hips) fit perfectly. It was a very odd fit and I don't have particularly broad shoulders. I couldn't hold my arms out in front of me without feeling like I was going to hulk out of the jacket. Too bad, because it was a beautiful color, great length, and very warm. I would have returned it for a large, but was too concerned that I would have the same issues just with more room where I didn't need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very warm, repels rain I ran out of gas today on the expressway so I had to pull over. In Michigan, we have a lot of semi trucks on our expressways and people drive very fast and sometimes very recklessly – so I got out of the car because I didn't want to get hit. I paced back-and-forth on the side of the expressway for approximately 50 minutes wearing this coat. The weather was 27° and a wind advisory was issued. The wind was approximately 25 mph, with a mix of rain/snow. I was wearing a very thin short-sleeved – cheap T-shirt underneath this jacket and this jacket kept me warm the entire time I was outside. The jacket repelled the rain and did not even get wet, nor did any of my clothes underneath it. I am approximately 5'6" tall and I weigh about 141 pounds. The jacket fully covers my butt, and ends halfway between my butt and my knees. Plenty warm enough and plenty of coverage.

I just bought my quebec coat today.i notice a little shedding already .what will o do to stop this

Asked by: Memords
Hiya Memords, thanks for your question! I'm sorry you are having this issue, however, it is totally common.... most down jackets will shed or lose feathers at some point. The most important thing is to not pull the feathers out. The holes can become larger which will cause more and more feathers to shed. We suggest that you try to push them back inside the jacket instead. Another suggestion is to put your jacket into the dryer and run the no-heat fluff cycle for about 15 minutes. When the jacket is worn, the feathers compress and flatten making them easier to fit through the fabric. If you fluff your feathers they will fatten up and have a more difficult time fitting through the fabric. Lastly, if the coat is new and the problem is excessive, you can return it. Hope this helps!

The hood on the black coat and the whitestone colored coat seem to be different from the coats with other colors. Are the photos misleading or are the hoods different for different colors?

Asked by: Ammi50
Hiya Ammi50, thanks for your question! It is the same coat. The only difference is the colors. The hood is laying flat in some pictures and cinched in others. Sorry for the confusion!

Hi I'm 5'6" and 130 lbs  what size do you recommend?

Asked by: Patty
Hiya Patty, thanks for your question! I have the same measurements (well, maybe with an extra pound or two). I tried on a medium size coat and found that it fit really well over a cardigan and top. If you plan on wearing heavy sweaters underneath, you might want to size up... but if I was purchasing it, I would go with the medium regardless. Let me just say that this was one of the most, comfortable, soft, warm coats I have ever tried on. I really didn't want to take if off. I will never forgive myself for not trying it on sooner. ;) Hope this helps!

Hi, I seems to be between sizes on the size chart. I am a pear shape approx 36 chest and 42 hips. Reviews suggest a small fit for upper body but don't mention any hip area issues with fit. Do you think I would work best in a medium or large?

Asked by: Wanderinjen
Thanks for the question! The Montreal Coat does have a "Regular" fit and runs true to size. Since your top measurement is a Medium, but your hip measurement is a Large, I would try the Medium at first. If you plan on wearing layers, then it may be best to go with the Large. Many customers in this situation purchase both sizes and then send back the coat that doesn't work out. If you don't want to do that, then I would recommend the Medium. Ordering online can be so tricky. I hope this helps a little!

A friend of mine is 5'2" tall with 143 lb. Living in Toronto. What size of this product do you recommend?

Asked by: Toronto
Hiya, thanks for the question! Your friend would probably be comfortable in a size medium. By the way, there is a link to a helpful size chart located in the lower left corner of the drop down size menu. Hope this helps!

Is this jacket sufficiently warm for 20 F degree weather?  Also, is the hood adjustable?

Asked by: Lucylu50
Thanks for the question! Unfortunately, Marmot does not temperature rate their garments. Warmth will be determined by your own body temperature, body type, activities, wind, what else you plan on wearing, etc. With that being said, the 700 down-fill will make it quite warm just in general. I am a naturally cold person and could wear this parka with just a light shirt underneath and still be safely/ comfortably warm. The hood is adjustable & removable and the fur trim is also removable. Hope this helps a little!
