The Marmot Tungsten 3P Tent is a three person tent for spending time in the outdoors. Hit the trail with one or two hiking partners and the Tungsten can house all three. The tent is constructed with durable polyester taffeta and 100% polyester no-see-um mesh, the transition from taffeta to mesh is visible when the tent has been pitched, a diagonal that allows both privacy and breathability. The freestanding tent is easily pitched, with only three poles to worry about (two main and one brow). Each main pole features pre-bends at either end, creating more vertical interior space. When the winds howl and rain starts falling, throw the rainfly over top for protection and you're also treated with two vestibules, one over each door. What more could you want? Probably a footprint, and yep, that's included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it but it is 6lbs 11oz I love this tent but it's packed weight is just over 6lbs 12oz, not 6lbs 5 oz... I still highly recommend this tent, without the fly there is a beautiful view of the night sky. I have used it in during winter (~20F) and was pleasantly surprised with how well the 3 season design handled the condensation, nothing in the tent was wet in the morning but we did have to hang the fly before we packed it up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the money I bought this tent last year and have had it on a weekend beach camping, a long weekend backpack and a two-week bike trip. It's compact and light enough to carry, but went in the SAG wagon on the bike trip. It was great in moderate (CA) rain and the small entry kept my muddy shoes dry. The included footprint worked much better than ground clothes or tarps I've used on other tents. The little figure-8 piece in the middle of the tent poles broke in the 35 mph winds one night. I used a short piece of para-cord to strap it for the rest of the trip and that worked OK. Marmot sent me a new figure-8 connector that I've installed, but haven't field tested since. This tent is good for two 6 footers with gear. Three people would be snug and your gear would have to be outside. The large doors make access very easy and all the mesh panels keep it cool. I did get a thin layer of sand particles thru the top mesh when I left the fly off one day with ~20 mph winds. Most of it shook out and I used a damp towel to clean up the rest.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but not for river runners I've owned the 3P for almost one year and have used it eleven times. I initially loved the mesh top when not using the rain fly to enjoy a clear view of the starry nights. I later found the mesh is not a tight enough weave and allows silt and fine sand to be blown inside with both doors sealed tight. In fact, every day of windy use allowed for enough sand to lightly cover all contents within an hour. The natural solution was to attach the fly, kill the starry view while adding unwanted insulation/heat in the summer. I kept using it because it wasn't enough of a problem not to, until my latest four day river run. I was lucky the storm hit on the last night. All efforts to stake this tent in sand is pointless so when the winds kicked up I was in bad shape. This tent collapses easily in moderate wind, down to my chest when laying in the center. I positioned my feet up against the ceiling for some support but wasn't able to maintain this while sleeping. I woke up early to find bent poles and a broken plastic attachment placed at the center of the two poles where the cross.. This breakage allowed the crossing to move away from the center of the tent, stressing through fly and allowing water in. I did enjoy not having the zipper pulls chime, great call there though does the zipper need to catch the cover material so efficiently? Anyway, I love the Marmot brand and have other products that I've relied on for years and will continue to do so. The Tungsten 3P, sadly, will not be one of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rain PROOF! I love this tent. Spent too many nights miserable in a soaking wet tent. After many reviews, I bought this tent and used it on top of a waterfall on beautiful lake Jocassee in South Carolina. Thunderstorm popped up out of no where, rained 3 inches in 30 minutes. No leaks!!! Other folks in the campsite were soaked, I stayed cozy and dry. Make sure you put all the guy lines out and everything to make sure rain doesn't roll down the rain fly and onto the mesh. Wonderful tent, could use some more stakes but I ain't complaining. Pretty heavy to go backpacking with unless you have a friend to split the load.... God Bless and safe adventures!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a Great Tent... Why Skimp on Extra's? I've had this tent out only one time so far. It's easy to set up, sturdy, and discovered that yes... its rain proof. I'm not a big-time camper, so I was caught off guard when I only found 6 stakes and not enough rain ties. I thought I lost them , but as I read the other reviews it seems that the standard kit is short. The instructions are pretty good. However, since this was my first "quality" tent, I wasn't sure what the extra flat piece was for. After researching, I'm still not sure. Watched several YouTube videos and nobody seems to use it. Is it a groundcloth.. or is it the "footprint" that is mentioned in some of the posts? By the way, I am 6' 7" tall and found this tent to be really comfortable, although my head and feet do touch the ends. There's enough room for only one more person, and that would be cozy, but I take up a lot of room. And what is the little 12" x 12" mesh cloth for? I love the multiple pockets and the hanger on top.. great for a small battery lantern.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't Have Asked For More Normally I don't like taking new gear out on an extended multi-day (16) kayaking trip before doing at least one overnight shakedown especially when it comes to tents. However, having the opportunity to check out a fully assembled Tungsten 3P where I bought it I was convinced that it would do well for my wife and I and we weren't disappointed. Living on the west coast of Vancouver Island we get a bit of every type of weather during the summer including dense fog, sun, howling wind, rain and lots of blowing sand to contend with. We loved how the pre-bends create vertical walls providing a larger interior and especially how one end of the tent has a wall extending almost 30 inches which came in handy when the wind and sand was blowing. The four interior pockets were great for storing items like headlamps, bear spray or anything we needed to have quick access to. I also really liked the two lampshade pockets for lights when reading or storing fragile items like my glasses. We found the Tungsten 3P very easy to set up even if only one of us was doing it. Yes it would have been nice to have 6 extra stakes provided with the tent but it wasn't a show stopper as I always carry extras with me anyway. One of the reasons that we bought the Tungsten 3P was that I could easily exit the tent without having crouch down so low to clear the vestibule pole like I have experienced in the past. Another big plus was that it comes with a footprint that fits the tent so we didn't have to try and find an after market model. The Tungsten 3P performed exceptionally well in the conditions that we used it in over the past 16 days and we are both extremely happy with our purchase. Great tent!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Bang for Buck The only gripe I have is Marmot could spend some money on quality made stuff sacks for the tent, Really Marmot when you get your tent ditch the sacks and buy something that will actually protect your gear. The tent is more than worth protecting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm sold! Just used our tent on a family backpacking trip where we spent 2 nights in thunder and lightning storms, 1 night of hail and nearly 36 hours of non-stop rain (heavy storm rains), but yet our tent held strong and kept us completely dry. I'm sold on Marmot after last weekend! This was our first Marmot tent purchase and is sure NOT to be our last.
