The Marmot Men's Trail Wind Hoody is a wind-resistant jacket for traveling light into the woods. The 100% polyester ripstop fabric tosses wind to the side and has been coated in a durable water repellent finish to provide water resistance as well. At just under 6 ounces, it packs into its own pocket so it's hardly noticeable in your backpack. The adjustable hood, elastic cuffs, and elastic drawcord hem all bring the open ends closer to the body, deterring drafts from entering the jacket.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used it way more than I thought I would I got this piece on a whim and I am blown away at how much I use it. Working as mountain guide in the Tetons layering is something I am always thinking about. It works as a lightweight soft-shell and for light rain. It weighs nothing and is incredible breathable. You can move so fast in it without overheating. Pick one up. You will find way more uses than you thought for it. Brenton Reagan, Exum Mountain Guides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight and Windproof In looking for a good lightweight windbreaker, I found the Marmot Trail Wind Hoody from someone's Tour Divide gear list and review. I was looking for a very lightweight solution for cycling and more specifically for bikepacking. The Trail Wind Hoody did not disappoint. I have used it on several rides, and it is very effective in stopping the wind. It is nice and light, and keeps the wind from cutting through the layers. One minor drawback is that the hood can act like a sail if you don't roll it up or tuck it on the inside of your jacket when not wearing the hood. I discovered this while cycling at high speed. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect packability I was looking for the right trail and road running jacket for Florida winters and Colorado shoulder seasons that would a) easily slip into a minimalist hydration pack without taking up all the space; b) give me a layer of protection without bulk, excessive noise or extra fabric interfering with arm swing; and c) uncomplicated venting. Marmot nailed it. The fit is perfect for me, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sooo light and packs so small I've had my trail wind hoody for about two months now. We don't get much rain where we live but this jacket is my go-to on my morning bike rides into work and evening hikes. First off, it's super light and perfect for not too cold but slightly windy early morning rides when I've got a pack on. Also, the side vents help with air circulation which is extremely helpful when I throw it on during the occasional warm spell days on the coast. Love that it packs so small - if the temp warms up during a hike I can stash this thing in my pack no problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent lightweight and breathable wind jacket I bought this primarily to use backcountry skiing, for high-output skinning when it's sprinkling snow. I specifically was looking for polyester, because it's a hydrophobic fiber, and there's not many polyester jackets like this available. The fabric surface is so glossy, snow just doesn't stick to it. I was hoping it would repel water droplets too, but after some use the DWR was no longer working and water did penetrate through it. But for such a breathable and lightweight jacket, which is important for my needs, it is about as good as I could hope for. Someday maybe there will be a fiber that's hydrophobic enough that a DWR isn't necessary, but we don't seem to be there yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features I purchased this jacket a month ago and I'm very pleased. Extremely lite and breathable. Great for mountain biking, hikes or any high aerobic activity. Wicks sweat quickly as well as dries, thanks to the mesh pits. The pits act as AC when you're huffing up a steep mountain bike climb. The Trail Hoody protects you from a substantial amount of wind, especially on a fast, cool downhill. I wore it on a mild rainy day and the DWR repelled a substantial amount of water. Wouldn't recommend this jacket for really foul weather. It has one chest pocket for energy gels/bars or cell phone. The elastic cuffs keep the sleeves from riding up. The fit is true to size. The fit is also an Athletic fit, which means it's snugger. This is good because you won't have extra fabric flapping in the wind. The fabric also seems a bit on the delicate side so don't go bushwhacking in it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for what was wanted This was a purchase for hubby. He wanted a very light rain/wind jacket. Also something that would fold up for easy carrying. This is great. Runs a little small. He usually wears a medium and I got him a large so he could layer and it will work but not too heavy under.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great features I bought this for my son for Christmas he seemed to be pleased. It did have all the features he wanted, I bought it a size bigger after reading another review. Glad I did, it fit him great.
