The ROM stands for Range of Motion, as the stretch fabric allows your body to move without restriction. Rated 4 out of 5 by from An almost perfect soft shell jacket I love the cut of this jacket. I'm 5'7" and 150lbs, and a small fits perfectly. The jacket is slim, but it can still accommodate a light insulating jacket and base layer underneath. I've used this jacket for everything - skiing, mountaineering, rock climbing, cycling, and everyday use. The fabric holds up to rock abrasion impressively well, and it certainly blocks out the wind. My only gripe about this jacket is that the hood is not helmet compatible. When the temperatures drop, I put the hood under my climbing helmet, but when I zip up the neck, I can't comfortably wear the helmet strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks good, sounds good and feels great Ok, so my main issue buying a jacket is will the size I am (Large) fit over multi layers or should I go one size up. As I bought it online I went for Large as my Marmot fleece and stretch light 1/2 zip will be used separate or together under it. It arrived and I was curious to do the test. It fit great. I am 6'2" 200lbs with broad shoulders, long arms and slim waist and again am very happy with the comfortable fit the ROM jacket is. I will update as time passes on the durability and use of the jacket. Well done Marmot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Go-to jacket. I bought this jacket three years ago for spring skiing, but now I use it for everything that gets my blood pumping. Breathes like crazy, and keeps breeze down. Super comfortable with light and medium layers, and moves right along with me, no restriction to movement with this coat. I've been using it hard for work and play, and it stands up to the abuse. To date, I've had very little go wrong, just a temperamental zipper that started acting up after 2 years (100+ days of use each year) and a seam that is starting to fail in the arm pit that showed up just as I'm writing this reveiw. The water-resistance is long gone, which was the only short coming for this piece, it really didn't last long at all. 5'7" 135 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sold.... Well this is my third jacket from you guys and I'd say I'm a fan. I have owned products and worked for competing companies and can honestly say the "fit and finish" of my marmot jackets are way better. The ROM is my new addition and can say it's at the top of my list. The jacket came in the mail today and is perfect straight out of the bag. No break in, no figuring out if it's the right size, no hassle. Just perfect  Thanks guys!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Soft Shell Used for everything from around town to big approaches to ice cragging. large was a little short in the arms on my 5'10" 200lbs frame, but my wingspan is 6'1" so it will fit any normally proportioned human. I didn't get the XL because my midsection was swimming in it, even though the arms where spot on. The stretch and cinched wrist cuffs made this a non issue when actually using the large jacket. The fabric mapping makes this usable as a standalone windshell at around 8C, usable with a light fleece to ~ freezing, and a great shell for all winter pursuits with a synthetic underneath. My insulated piece has higher breathability in almost the same places as this jacket, so it really complimented each other. Absolutely worth the hype.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket, but beware if you have a beard Love the jacket for the most part, very comfortable and stretchy, the hood works great. However, there are grommets that hold the hood cords near the top of the zipper, and these grommets go all the way through the jacket, resting on my face on the inside of the jacket. If I zip the jacket all the way up, the grommets will occasionally catch on my short beard and yank hairs off of my face. Not fun. I'm going to try putting a fabric patch over the grommets to fix it. I've got some duct tape on it now that seems to be doing the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar multi-use I have been wearing this jacket for about a year now. It's my #1 pick all around for skiing, cycling, running and hiking. I am 5'11 150lbs and the medium fits like it was tailored for Me. I never over heat while cycling or telemark skiing. fits well even with 2 layers under. this is a very well built jacket! No complaints. Huge pockets hold so much more than I am willing to carry! Never had issues with moisture on powder days!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LIVES UP TO THE BILLING Well, I've only had it for a week, and all things look great ( including the styling). We went out XC Skiing in Jackson, NH on the first day. It snowed nearly a foot and temps climbed to 12 Degrees. I had a light base layer, with a SPYDER sweater, under the ROM. It didn't take long for me to swap the sweater for a LEADVILLE vest for a lighter version. We were out for 5 hours on the trails and never was my core cold. My hands were chilled because of poor glove selection, but I was toasty and dry. And after 5 hours of aerobic skiing, the shell was dry inside. The ROM shedded the daylong snow and I was totally dry. I cold not have been happier. We also went out for a Moonlight snowshoe. I did layer up with the SPYDER sweater and in temps hovering around 0. I was totally comfortable. Also, while snowshoeing, I snagged the ROM on a branch. ( so hard, I shook the tree and snow showers the couple behind me- oops). I was convinced I tore the jacket. When we came in to warm up , I looked at the ROM and not even frayed stitch- totally intact. I love my Marmot. It is a very light
