Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Jeep of jackets. Exceeded all expectations. This jacket is amazing. It stood up to everything I could throw at it while I was a Ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this summer. From gusting winds upwards of 40 mph, to hail, and spontaneous rain deluges, this jacket always kept me dry and surprisingly warm. ,,,,My range of motion was unhindered (as it should be, with a product name ROM...), and as a 6'5" 220 lb collegiate rower, this is a rarity. Often, jackets are either too short in the sleeves or too tight in the chest for me, but the XL fit me perfectly. ,,,,The ventilation is outstanding as well. Even while hiking through a hailstorm and carrying my 40 lb pack, I didn't feel burdened by an uncomfortably warm jacket. ,,,,I would definitely buy this jacket again, and I've already recommended it to my friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great softshell jacket This is a good softshell from Marmot. Very breathable and highly wind resistance. It is also quite water resistance as well. After 10-15 minutes in light-moderate rain and I am still dry. Will not keep you so warm and will need a mid-layer fleece if temp goes below 5-10C. Hand pockets are slightly low and your hipbelt or harness may cover them - wish they could be higher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The end-all be-all jacket to change the world. I bought this on sale, and it was the last one. I can't seem to find them anymore, because I want 2 more. I want to keep 1 for my mountaineering where I care about the DWR and don't want to tear it up over time, I want another one for everyday use which I can tear up and still be warm, and I want a third as backup for when they stop making them!,,,,This thing is warm, but does have a breezy setup when the pockets are open (so it vents really really well). It works great over a down layer and under a hardshell like goretex. I loved the hood and I loved how it behaved in deep snow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb jacket for the right activity The ROM jacket in slate grey is a beautiful product. The colors are great, and can be worn around town with jeans or on the slopes. The quality of the build is great. Everything is meticulously crafted, and the fit was perfect. I am 135 lbs, 5 ft. 10 in, slim athletic build, and the small was perfect.,,,,Here is why I returned mine. Marmot, as you may or may not know, has an M1, M2, and M3 material for their softshells. The M1 is the warmest and most weather resistant and the M3 is the lightest in all aspects. I was looking for a jacket to wear around town and when I ski. The jacket would replace my current fleece lined softshell , and would be adaptable.,,,,The ROM is an M2, and it is for aerobic activites in cool to cold climates, and is weather resistant. For me, I would have to wear a fleece with this jacket when it was in the 40's and below. It is not a warm jacket (there is no warm lining). It is breathable and fairly wind resistant. I bought the Super Gravity, and it is perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the jacket I grab first When I need a light shell for walking the dog, or something windproof to go over a puffy down sweater, this is the jacket I grab first. This jacket stays on the hook by the door, and doesn't migrate back into the closet... it gets used! My wife found one for me at an outlet store, and I loved it so much she went back & got one for herself. ,,As far as the fit goes, mine is an XL. I"m 6'3 and 225, and it fits me well. My only quibble is that the sleeves feel a little tight through the forearm when I'm wearing a puffy layer underneath.Other than that, I love this jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathable and windproof. . . what more do you want? This is essentially the Leadville with a hood. Not sure I really need the hood -- it won't fit over my climbing helmet and if I'm cold I'd wear a beanie. But, heck, I bought it with a hood so I can't complain!,,,,I'm 6'6", 250#. The sleeves and body are long enough that I could fit in an XL, but I got the XXL as it gives me more room to layer underneath. All three exterior pockets remain accessible even with a backpack on. I'd like a little sleeve pocket on it as well, but that is picking nits. ,,,,The material is very soft and comfortable. The Gore windstopper does its thing, yet the jacket breathes pretty well. Not sure about its water repellancy, but didn't buy it for that purpose. Packs down well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best jacket I've ever owned This is a great combination of warmth and breathability, making it perfect for both warmer and colder weather. I own a Precip, which is a great rain jacket, but if it's at all warm, I end up sweating a lot! The ROM isn’t as rain-proof, but it's so breathable that I can wear it without sweating and feeling, yet it's warm and stops anything short of a hurricane. ,,,,I'm 5'10" and 165, and the medium is plenty big. It’s just a bit on the big side, which means I can put 2-3 layers on under it, and get super warm. Oh, and I bought the gray/cinder one, and I think I look like Desmond Miles from Assassin's Creed--which is kinda cool too :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Get it. Got it? Good! I am a 5'10 male weighing around 205, but very athletic. I got the medium by accident but I am starting to realize this may have been the fit for me! It is a little snug, but I have been able to fit a sweatshirt underneath with out loosing ROM, but I did notice when I raise my hands above my head, my belly shows and the ladies start running! So that is why I think a large may have fit better.,,The jacket is very well made and I have worn it several times and have stayed warm. I am heading out to Colorado for some skiing and I am pretty excited to see how this jacket holds up!,,I would recommend everyone getting this jacket!
