The Marmot Men's PreCip Pant waterproof pant for hiking through rainy trails. The PreCip uses NanoPro technology, a waterproof/breathable coating to keep the rain off your legs while still remaining comfortable. None of that garbage bag feeling on the inside. Side zips at the ankles make quick work of pulling them on in a sudden downpour. The zippered hand pockets and one zippered back pocket provide easy access to your pocket knife or a light snack without having to dig into your hike pants underneath. The elastic waist is comfortable and a draw cord ensures they won't fall off midway down the trail.

Marmot NanoPro

Marmot NanoPro
Marmot NanoPro is a super comfortable waterproof/breathable membrane. It is dynamically air permeable, which helps shed excess moisture vapor, keeping you dry and happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not truly full zip, very slim fit Pro: waterproofing is good, held up while biking in sleet and slush. Cons: 1) The zipper does not detach from itself as a 'full zip' should like on a rain jacket. So you still need to fit your shoe through the leg hole. My sneakers (size 13 wide) barely fit, no way a hiking boot would. If I have to take my shoes off to get it on, the zip is really just ventilation. 2) I am 6' 2" 220 lbs, have the thighs and rear of a cyclist. These were tight from the waist to knee and limited motion. Okay to bike in, could not hike in these. First time Marmot has ever truly disappointed me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Misleading size chart I bought these pants after a lot of research in stores and online. The problem is that it seems like almost nobody caries in the stores short sizes, and since I need a 30" inseam with a 32-33" waist, and I couldn't find anywhere. My excitement rapidly dropped, after I finally got possession of a pair of Medium short, according with the chart, and tried them on. They were way too small all around, and especially on the thighs, and almost clown looking. I immediately returned them in the store, and since they couldn't find a Large short to try and exchange, I just gave up on them. The material looked nice and quality made, but cannot comment on advertised properties and/or durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pants! Light weight, compressible, and roll up small. Have been using them on a daily basis when hiking as my outer layer to cut down the chill on windy days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy These pants are nice. Lightweight and the zipped lowered legs make it easy to pull over hiking boots in a rush. I am 6 foot 180 pounds with a 33 waist. The medium regular length fit the best. I ordered both large and mediums to try both sizes. I was concerned with layering underneath. The large was a little too roomy and too long. The mediums were a good fit even with thermal underwear and pants underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really works in the rain Hiked 17 miles on a rainy day and these pants worked well, standing up to the moisture as well as a Gore-Tex jacket. I remain impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fit and lightweight These are a fantastic fit; the long option is a god-send for tall people like me, the ankle zips run high enough to slide over my Asolo size 13 hiking boots, and the legs are wide enough to fit over my hiking trousers without being tight. My only reservation is that while the material is very lightweight and perfect for packing, I could use a sturdier material to stand up to brush and won't snag and tear when pitching a tent or saddling a horse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great While they lasted! After using these for 2 weeks in New Zealand and a week in Scotland, the lining on the inside delaminated from the outside layer in certain areas and I got very wet! I was very surprised when that happened because they were great while they lasted!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight and packable rain pants I just got these Precip pants. I haven't worn them in the rain yet but I figure there are plenty of reviews that talk about protection and breath-ability. So, I'll just give you some information about fit. I'm 6'0" tall with a 34" waist and 32" inseam along with a fairly muscular 210 lb build. I looked at the size charts and chose the "regular length" (32" inseam) in size Large. Bingo! If I wear them with only a pair of shorts, they are just a little bit roomy in the butt and legs. If I wear them over a pair of jeans, they are just right in the butt and legs to allow freedom of movement. I think that's the sweet spot for me. The fabric is a nice tight ripstop. It makes that annoying nylon on nylon swish sound common to this synthetic fabric when you walk in them. But, I don't see anyone else selling a lightweight waterproof pant that doesn't do the same thing. So, I can't knock the Precip pants for that. On the other hand, they are indeed lightweight and packable and I'm willing to put up with nylon noise if it means I'll stay warm and dry on a rainy day. Like all Marmot products I own, they appear well designed and well made of good quality fabrics and zippers. Just an FYI, I combined these pants with a Precip jacket, a Precip safari hat, and a Zeus down jacket as my 3 season "all weather gear" for the trail. And it's all stuff I can use around town as well. I'm really happy with the total package from a performance and value perspective.
