The Marmot Men's PreCip Jacket is a waterproof hiking jacket for exploring new trails. The PreCip is coated with NanoPro, Marmot's most breathable waterproof coating. It keeps you dry from the elements without the icky garbage bag feeling on the inside. When you get too hot, pop open the pit zips for quick ventilation. The jacket packs into its own pocket when not in use, so no reason not to bring it along with you, just in case. The hood adjusts for fit as well as rolls into the collar to stay out of the way on mild days. When zipped all the way to your chin, tuck into the DriClime Lined Chin Guard for soft, non-chafing warmth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent light weight jacket Bought this jacket to replace a similar one I lost. Used it as fot wind protection on a very cold fly fishing float trip. The hood worked well without interfering with visibility.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Quality and Features! If you actively spend your time outdoors or plan to travel where rain is common, purchasing the PreCip Jacket may be something to consider. After personal experience with this jacket for just over a year and a half it has been dependable and lightweight. With that being said, if you are someone who sweats quite a bit while moving around this can cause a clammy uncomfortable feel, no matter how lightweight the jacket is. It does not feel as though you are saturated in sweat, but you can feel the humidity. Marmot provides under arm zippers that give airflow, which can help this feeling subside. The zippers on the jacket do not have friction or commonly get caught in the fabric, which is extremely convenient. The design of the jacket also allows for adjustment at the base with tightening straps you can pull on to tighten or loosen. One common characteristic with rain gear and this design is the noisy outer coating. The shell can make a swishing and/or crinkling noise when swaying your arms as you hike or do outdoor activities, which can be bothersome or irritating at times. This material may be noisy, but has continued to endure international travels, as well as daily use as an outer layer to keep dry for me personally. With the use of this product there has been no sign of peeling away on the inner side of the waterproof material and it has kept dry. There is a hood provided on the jacket that gives full coverage with the zipper coming up past your chin/mouth area and providing a great protection against the cold. The Marmot PreCip Jacket has continued to provide value for the amount you pay and is a good quality product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It does what it is expected to do This is a great light rain jacket. If you know you are going to be standing in the rain for days on end this is not the jacket designed for that. Go rubber. But, if you are looking for a great shell to warm you up when it gets a bit chilly, keep light rain and snow off you for several hours then this is the jacket for you. Performance for the price cannot be beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Purchase I bought this Jacket in Jan 2018 for runs in the rain. I have run 3 times with this jacket in light to heavy rains and have stayed completely dry. The zipper under the arms are great for not letting me get to hot. On Cold days I am perfectly fine with a thick running shirt and just the jacket. My runs range from 5 to 15 miles. I have run this way at 26*F with a 17*F wind chill. Jacket is very easy to pack away. I plan on buying another one soon for casual use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does The Job Perfect I bought it a month ago and last week I trailed with it in my country (Israel). It was raining here in the last days. The jacket is comfortable, kept me dry and protected me well in the windy weather. Worth the price!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fragile jacket. Barely suitable for dry weather. I bought the jacket online. Loved it when I saw it. Unfortunately, the inner lining comes apart easily after a 3 week's use. It's great in the rain, but it's a fragile item. It's not ideal for outdoor use if it's gonna tear like paper. I specifically bough this jacket for the rain, but it looks like it's barely up for the challenge of 3 weeks in dry weather.

I have an old Precip from about 2011. It has served me well and had lots of life left in it but one thing has always bugged me: MESH POCKETS--WHY?!?!?!?  Does this version have mesh pockets, or ones that will keep your hands dry when it is not zipped?

Asked by: JCar
Marmot had a short video presentation the PreCip. Like you, I wondered why mesh materials were used for handpockets. The video said that while the pockets were opened, it helped with the ventilation, similar to what the pit zips did when opened.

I will be purchasing my 2nd Marmot Precip. I'm 6'2 and 115 lbs. I think I'll need the Xl because I'm carrying too many lbs. but the sleeves on other Marmot Xl's hang over my wrist. Where are they supposed to hang? Thanks!

Asked by: Flip
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! The sleeve length on Marmot's PreCip Jacket is 35 in - 36 in for Large and 36 in - 37 in for XL. If you have a tape measure, you can measure an arm to see where the sleeves would land on you specifically. Like any jacket, sleeves normally come to a rest at your wrist. You don't want them to inhibit the use of your fingers or look like flood sleeves, unless of course, you're trying to provide a fashion statement!

Trying to decide between a Large or XL Mens Precip jacket. I am 6ft 2in, 210lbs. I saw you had answered a previous question on the sleeve length being 35inches which seem really very long. Can you advise me on if this is correct and where to measure?

Asked by: wakejosh
Hey there dude! The sleeve measurement on Large is actually 23.5" from the under arm/armpit to the edge of the sleeve. The shoulder edge seam to the edge of the sleeve is 27" long. The Large is 25" across the chest from armpit to armpit. The XL should be an inch or two larger in those areas. Personally I prefer to size up for rain jackets. That way I can wear a hoody or heavy sweater under it in fall or winter and won't be too confined.
