Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beware of Falsely Advertised Rope Weight by Mammut I recently purchased a new Mammut Infinity Dry 60m rope from Moosejaw. Service from Moosejaw was great and I have no complaints there. However, the rope is 11% heavier than claimed by Mammut (actual weight of 65.3g/m instead of the claimed value of 59g/m) According the product specification (labeled on the rope as at the Mammut website), the rope should have a weight of 59g/m, which equals 3.54 kg for a 60m rope. I weighted the rope at home and was getting a weight about 1/2 kg heavier, so I took the rope into my place of work and weighed it again on two independent, certified, calibrated scales and got a weight of 3.92kg (nearly 1lb heavier than advertised), which corresponds to a per unit length weight of 65.3g/m compared to the 59g/m claimed by Mammut. This is 11% heavier than advertised. I confirmed the accuracy of the weight measurement by placing calibration masses on the scale. The rope was brand new, never used, and was encased in plastic wrap when I purchased the rope, so there is no chance that the rope was at all wet. Of course the rope was weighed without any packaging material, not even the velcro strap that came on the rope. I notice that Mammut claims the same weight for the Infinity classic (no dry treatment at all) as they do for the full dry rope. Is it possible that the dry treatment adds 11% to the weight? I am not sure if other rope manufacturers are engaging in the same deceptive practices or not. I would be real curious to know the actual weight of a 60m Infinity Classic (no dry treatment).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far, So Good I have only put about 20 pitches on this rope, but so far, I have really enjoyed climbing with it. A good compromise between durability and weight. I mainly use it for multi-pitch trad climbing and it has been dragged over edges, seen its fair share of heinous rope drag from linking pitches and has even been thrown in the sandy mud. The dry coating on both the core and sheath really does make a difference in keeping the rope clean, so far at least. If you're looking for something to climb hard trad with, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase. It is a great rope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but... It is a great rope and it's light. Easy to carry around and is solid. However, it is slightly thin and recommended to belay with gloves for people who are not familiar with 9.5 MM rope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect on first use Great rope. Loved the feel and function on its first use. Hard to find such a well working rope. Highly recommended. Works great in a grigri as well.
