The MSR Mutha Hubba NX Tent is a backpacking tent for hitting the trail with a group of three. Or maybe you like plenty of space and it's just you and one other. However you hike the backcountry, the 4lbs, 9oz weight keeps your pack light. The two doors allow a quick escape in the middle of the night and the vestibule protects gear in foul weather. When inside, you'll have enough headroom to sit up and hang with your pals and enough space to change and get ready in the morning. A combination of fabric and mesh give the privacy needed in more crowed sites while still allowing cool breezes to flow through.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of room I have a Hubba-Hubba that I had problems with during guiding trips. I felt very comfortable camping in the Mutha. It folds up small and is lightweight. Nice and roomy inside. I took it camping to see the eclipse in August at the Boise National Forest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great over all tent Bought this tent to use as a versatile backpacking/ canoeing/car camping tent and it works great, its big enough that we can fit all our gear in it with the 2 of us, or we can use it as a common area in inclimate weather ( managed to have 5 grown adults sit in it comfortably for a few hours). The doors on the fly are a little sticky when zipping from the outside, i found it easier to reach under and zip from inside. Also found there to be quite a bit of condensate build up on the fly in cold weather which caused a few drips through the mesh ceiling. Overall the tent works great, set up is a breeze, and its very roomy and sturdy. Not the most ultralight tent, but also not too heavy just a great all rounder. (Note there is no footprint included).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tent It was super easy to spring for the mutha hubba over the hubba hubba its barely extra weight in the bag and alot of extra room. On the topic of room, when you compare MSR to other brands like REI and others it is hard to beat the floor space at the foot and head, you are not touching the walls of the tent at all. I love MSR!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointed I have only used this tent 4 times during my 3 years of ownership. I was disapointed and feel MSR have mislead me on the fantastic weight claims because from new this tent requires extra rope and pegs from the standard kit to keep the tent fly taught enough to prevent the fly touching the tent inner. The tent fly fabric tends to stretch with moisture. This tent needs to be pitched out very firmly to prevent the fly contacting the tent inner. This design seems a little flawed. The tent floor seam tape is lifting and the tent pole velcro loops on the fly are only glued on and coming unstuck. This tent was an expensive purchase and has been stored dry loosely in a pillow case and is in terrible condition. This purchase was a waste of money, $800 and I have used it for 5 nights only, my smaller Blackwolf Grasshopper 2 tent is at least 6 years old, it has never been pampered for storing, has been used dozens of times, is in better condition without mantenance and costs about 1/2 the amount of money. I am not sure if I can be bothered to fix my failing Mutha Hubba Nx or just buy a new Grasshopper 3 instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tent - once you get used to setting it up right My boys are getting older and we wanted to do longer backpacking excursions, so we picked up this light 3 man tent to complement the 2 man we already have. It's a great size and shape, and packs light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great space, Low Weight, Rain Fly isn't perfect Purchased this tent for a canoe trip my father and I take yearly. We are both pretty big guys so the "3" person Mutha was a must. For the 2 of us the size is perfect, we don't feel like we are carrying extra weight but also do not feel crammed in there. We have spent may rainstorms sitting in the tent and it has remained bone dry. (paired with the footprint) However sometimes moisture is pulled thru because our sleeping bags are touching the end of the tent.... but that isn't totally the tents fault. (we are both 6'5") The only "complaint" is the rainfly/pole structure could be slightly improved. I think this tent would benefit from from 2 more poles at the head and foot of the tent.(kind of like the papa hubba) In our experience you have to tighten the fly daily to keep the fly from touching the inside of the tent. Also I think the 2 extra poles would help pull the inner fabric tighter and the head and foot of the tent, which has a tendency to be loose. It would add weight but it would also increase interior space. All in all, this tent is a GREAT balance of having space and carrying minimal weight. Not 5 out of 5 only because the rainfly could use some work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice tent. Great lightweight and compact tent. Could be improved by having at least a couple of storage pockets along side of tent or overhead. A little concerned with waterproofness during heavy driving rain due to fly not coming down closer to ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Tent My son and I just finished up a week long trip to the boundary waters in northern Minnesota. On our second night it poured. We were set up on a spot that wasn't so level.... we could hear the water running underneath our tent.....we stayed dry....there were others with us with similar tents not of the same quality and unfortunately they got wet.....MSR Mutha Huba is a great tent....!
