DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight 2 man te nt This is a quality, light weight tent. Fits 2 people comfortably. Packs down to fit in my pack nicely. I like that we could star gaze without the fly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 3 Season Shelter Picked up the MSR Elixir 2 at the beginning of 2018. Spent 3+ weeks backpacking through Utah for a photography expedition this winter and another 3 weeks backpacking around Colorado for the remainder of the winter and start of spring. It has been a very windy, cold last few months while out backpacking, and the tent has performed beautifully. Very easy/ quick to set up and tear down. Very easy to shake clean during tear down, with poles and ground tarp attached to the body. Has put up with nights of rain and ice to snow with no leak problems yet. (Still have not been through a summer thunderstorm in it yet) Feels strong enough to take some decent top weight in a snow storm. Vents well with both gear vestibule half open on warmer days. Not the tent to hang out in on a hot day, but it is a 3 season. I love the different tie options for the gear vestibules. Stays anchored in high winds VERY VERY well. While exploring canyons one day away from camp the winds began to roar through the canyons, immediately turned around and bolted back to camp. Gusts in the upper 50s to 60s, tents were anchored on super fine sand, I thought there was no way our camp would be intact. When we got back Buddies REI half dome 2 was hanging on by the last thread, gear bunched in one spot on the side wall and one stake left in the ground with half the tent in a bush. In the MSR Elixir 2, my bag and gear were in the gear vestibule, with only sleeping pad and bag in the tent. It hadn't budged an inch. Both vestibules, and all guide lines were all still taught and holding perfectly. Great piece of mind as for the next 3 days we were stuck in our tents as the winds raged and sand blasted everything. I was comfy other than the non-stop flow of fine dust flowing through the mesh parts of the tent. Would wake up to clear the dust out of my nose and the entire inside of the tent was a reddish orange color of fine dust. Only Complaint is height of mesh at top and bottom could be taller.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Budget Buy My partner and I bought this for backpacking and finally got a chance to test it out. Camped out in western Mass with a low of 25F that night. Kept us warm and dry with our 30degree sleeping bags and 2.2R value pads. Had some condensation on the top inside, but not much dropped on us. Be careful not to stuff the mesh pockets as it restricts are flow. Set up and take down is very easy even for one person. Looking forward to more trips with this tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excited To Try! I bought this a month ago and I am really looking forward to using it. I want to start backpacking more often and car camp. I figured that this would be a great starter tent for me and can't wait to use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from solid kayaking tent Needed to update to a freestanding tent for kayaking in the San Juan Islands. Also wanted a bit more room since weight was not as big of an issue in a kayak. So far used once on a 3 day trip and am very satisfied . At 6 foot 4 there is enough length and the extra space for gear is nice. Vestibules are large and the included footprint adds to the overall value. Looking forward to many more trips!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design. Easy assembly. Well thought. Bought for an Brooks Range arctic trip. Glad I did. No regrets. Has become a favorite. A great piece of gear. Used a space blanket for footprint. A great wilderness habitat for humanity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good tent but very flimsy poles Pros: Very good quality overall, all the stiches, the fabrics, the zippers are very good quallity , plenty of room inside and withthe vestibules, Color coded for easy pitch No so good: No so fresh in hot weather due the lack of mesh, no inner pockets, junst the mesh one that re against the same mesh of the tnet I didnt like that. Cons or BAD: The poles are veri thin and fragile, the first time I pitched my tent the gray pole broke, The color codes on the fly were mixed red in the gray tab and gray in the red tab

Aside from the foot print that attaches under the tent does the tent have a tarp bottom itself?

Asked by: Chloe
Hey there! The MSR Elixir 2-Person Tent has a footprint included. Huzzah! As for an additional covering for the inside part of the tent's floor, most tents do not come with something like that these days. If you have a dog with sharp nails or something like that and you're worried about the inner part of the tent's floor being torn, you could use any sort of tarp, canvas, or even a blanket to provide extra protection. If you have a really cute dog you can send pictures addressed to "Galactus."
