Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great design. Easy assembly. Well thought. Bought for an Brooks Range arctic trip. Glad I did. No regrets. Has become a favorite. A great piece of gear. Used a space blanket for footprint. A great wilderness habitat for humanity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good tent but very flimsy poles Pros: Very good quality overall, all the stiches, the fabrics, the zippers are very good quallity , plenty of room inside and withthe vestibules, Color coded for easy pitch No so good: No so fresh in hot weather due the lack of mesh, no inner pockets, junst the mesh one that re against the same mesh of the tnet I didnt like that. Cons or BAD: The poles are veri thin and fragile, the first time I pitched my tent the gray pole broke, The color codes on the fly were mixed red in the gray tab and gray in the red tab

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it! I love this tent! I shopped for weeks to find the tent which best fit my needs and wasn't disappointed. So far I've only used it for short excursions but plan to do some week long trips this Summer and look forward to really testing it out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many years of great use. I have used this tent for a few years now - hiking, car camping and motorcycle camping. The 2 person is just right for me and I am 6 foot. This tent has been through some rough times - even had a large limb fall on it - the poles bent but I remained safe. (Darn Samsquatches) I do recommend getting the foot print and extend the life a bit longer. This is my go to tent. I will say it's a bit heavy for super long trips - looking at a Hubba Hubba NX 2 to lighten the load, but for the money - this thing is bullet proof so a little bit of weight is a fair trade off for reliability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great overall tent that doesn't break the bank! I needed to replace my old 2-man tent last season and came across the Elixir 2. Features were similar to the well known Hubba Hubba but with a few tweaks to make it more cost effective alternative. It is a fair amount heavier but I really am not counting ounces to have had any issues to mind. I've only have it in two down pores, but I will say that everything stayed bone dry with its included footprint. The vestibules did a nice job of keeping our packs and boots moisture free as well. The bivy sack that was included leaves it pretty loose when stored and is fine if you're using it for car camping. MSR has a compression sack available for their 2-3 man tents for about $25. I found it worth while because does a nice job of keeping it nice compact to fit in my pack for the back country. The double vestibules give me and my partner tonnes of room for each of our packs and gear and keeping clutter to a minimum. After I purchased my Elixir last year, I learned of the gear shed designed for the Hubba series and was disappointed to find them incompatible with my tent. But MSR seems to have changed that this year developed an elixir version that I'm soon to consider for the shoulder season. The inner canopy has less mesh in comparison to the Hubba, which sort of impedes the view while inside. But I consider it somewhat of a trade off for warmth. I have noticed that whenever camping in the alpine, some condensation occurs on the top cross bar of the tent frame, but again I have had no notable moisture issues. I've always been able to effectively remove any condensation on the inside of the fly with a good shake before packing it up to hit the trail. Overall, this cost effective tent is great for backpacking and car camping alike. If you're not ounce counting, its an awesome alternative to the Hubba, and probably has the added bonus of being warmer due the canopy comprising of more solid nylon. The compression sack available is worth while to add along with it. Well into my second year with this tent to could not be more pleased with how it is and hopefully will be standing up for seasons to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tent for one I have camped two seasons in this tent and LOVE it. Spacious enough for medium size girl/guy who is a minimalist (car camping and short hike in with minimal gear and little interest in keeping much inside). Great spot to store gear outside in vestibule, in a dry pac but out of the rain. Vestibules help keep rain, cold wind out. Easy, fast set up for one.

Aside from the foot print that attaches under the tent does the tent have a tarp bottom itself?

Asked by: Chloe
Hey there! The MSR Elixir 2-Person Tent has a footprint included. Huzzah! As for an additional covering for the inside part of the tent's floor, most tents do not come with something like that these days. If you have a dog with sharp nails or something like that and you're worried about the inner part of the tent's floor being torn, you could use any sort of tarp, canvas, or even a blanket to provide extra protection. If you have a really cute dog you can send pictures addressed to "Galactus."
