DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tent! My wife and I really had a hard time deciding on a tent. We debated price, features vs weight for over a month before settling on the Elixir 2. After using it a bunch of times this summer we're really happy with it. We wanted something that was feature rich and packable if backpacking. The overall footprint is very good and sitting in the tent is no problem. The dual vestibules are awesome and can accommodate a backpack and shoes on each side of the tent very easily. There is enough room inside the tent to put clothes and other small stuff at the end of regular length Thermarests. We found the included footprint to be a great feature and very easy to clean off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unreliable but overall a good tent I purchased this tent in summer of 2014 and was surprised at how easy it was to set up! However, after a windstorm one of the tent poles broke, and tore the fly. I had to spend the rest of my summer with a duck tape patched pole and fly. The company was nice enough to replace and repair the fly for me which was great! However, just last week when I was out on fly-in shift, the poles broken again, but this time during setting up the tent, once again I was left to tape up the pole. I am disappointed by the structural integrity of this tent, however it is spacious, and could be set up quickly with ease (if your poles don't break!).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I've owned this tent for about 8 mounths and finally got around to using it and wow, it is simply amazing. Easy to put up and spacious. The first time I set it up was on the beach in high winds and it was just a breeze to set up. While sleeping in it high tide decided to pay a visit, by the time I got up to move it, it was submerged in about 4 inches of water and not a drop got inside. This is now my go to tent, I can't wait to get another one that will acomadate more people, thank you for such a great product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Elixir 2 petson Tent The addition of The Elixir Series of Tents to the awarding winning MSR Line of tents, shelters and Tarps offers an entry level option with the same solid construction, ease of setup and lightweight materials and design that people have come to expect from MSR. The quality and design is very similar to the poplular Hubba series of 2 and 3 person tent Options with a bit more weight and as well with a Footprint included alomg with the Elixir tents making it an economical option with a ready to go solid proven tent design. I would recommend the Elixir tents to anyone who is on a budget yet still wants to purchase a world class MSR Tent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best I have used Using this tent for over a year. It's quite big, you can sit up, easily move inside, even two person feels comfortable. The only minus in my case is the pole's lenth, I'am cycle tourer and I'am able to pack tent 50% less that it's bag but because of long poles I have to divide the package. Here I'm asking the MSR to think about to minimize the lenth of poles, they can be a little bit heavier, but if the package itself will be about 25-30 sm it would be perfect, I believe not only for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from New version I bought 2016 version of this tent and saw cheap plastic tie-off tip on poles. Tent cannot be used in fast and light configuration - included footprint haven't buckles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tent, easy pitch, great value, great service 3 Months of use from the end of winter and thru spring my Elixir 2 has been a pleasure to use, coped well with all that the typical Irish weather threw at it. Personally I think the quality is outstanding for the money and sooo easy to pitch and take down. Now some people have issues with the 2016 model (the one I have), the included ground sheet did not have the buckles to pitch in "fast and light mode" but a quick call to cascade designs who own MSR saw a new one in the post, some also comment on the cheap plastic ends that are also new on 2016 model breaking, I have to say you would have to really try hard to break them, so I also mentioned this to MSR and they sent me a few spares just in case, what can I say but THANK YOU for a great tent and great customer service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tent with as far as i see only one problem I bought this time roughly one month ago and it has worked fantastic. Normally i use it in my garden and haven't really used it in any larger camping trips. Still it has taken quite some weather with heavy rain and a good portion of wind. The tent is easy to set up and easy to take down. The ground sheet really adds to that luxurious feeling. The only problem with the tent is, that sometimes i wake up with water on the inner tent. I assume this is from condensation. Even with both air vents open. I think that, since this tent is a 3 season tent, its there because i slept at around 2° celcius. Im not really sure, but after the sounds of it, that would be most likely.

Aside from the foot print that attaches under the tent does the tent have a tarp bottom itself?

Asked by: Chloe
Hey there! The MSR Elixir 2-Person Tent has a footprint included. Huzzah! As for an additional covering for the inside part of the tent's floor, most tents do not come with something like that these days. If you have a dog with sharp nails or something like that and you're worried about the inner part of the tent's floor being torn, you could use any sort of tarp, canvas, or even a blanket to provide extra protection. If you have a really cute dog you can send pictures addressed to "Galactus."
