The MSR Dragonfly Stove is a backcountry cooking workhorse. It is capable of handling a variety of fuels and reliable enough to be the only stove you'll need for years and years. My buddy Geoff, has one of these and brings it on all of our trips. His signature dishes are pasta in the summer and melted snow in the winter. Geoff isn't the most handy guy either, but has no trouble with maintenance and has had his Dragonfly running at peak efficiency since I've known him.

FEATURES of the MSR Dragonfly Stove

  • Unrivaled Flame Control: Dual-valve technology allows precision simmer-to-boil control with a simple twist of the flame adjuster
  • Extra Wide Pot Supports: Easily holds up to 10" diameter MSR pots or fry pans
  • Multi-Fuel: Burns white gas, kerosene, unleaded auto fuel, diesel, and jet fuel
  • Efficient: Suspended burner cup produces a strong burn while reducing heat lost to the ground
  • Field Maintainable: Shaker Jet technology and smart engineering allow complete, easy cleaning and maintenance in the field
  • Compact: Folds to 1/3 of its working size and fits in a two-liter MSR pot for easy storage

Please note that stoves DO NOT include any fuel bottles or canisters pictured. Sorry about everything and please don't hate us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super stable stove for larger pots and pans This stove, with its wide base, is super stable for wider pots (i.e., great when cooking for larger groups). Gives you extra confidence that dinner isn't going to be served with a dirt garnish!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would but this product again I love the way this product operates, and allows me to effectively adjust the flame while cooking. It roars into action following priming. The wide legs and pot placement provide excellent stability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Shiny I haven't used it yet. I was bummed I had to buy the bottle seperately. My friends use this stoke when they're doing all sorts of rad things and recommended it. I'll use it bike packing, kayaking maybe, skiing probably, hiking perhaps. It is pretty shiny

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10 years of great camp cooking I have had my Dragonfly for 10 years & hundreds of hot dinners & morning coffees now & it's been super reliable. We enjoy cooking so having good flame control is a must for gourmet camp meals. The light weight makes it an excellent hiking stove. It's also well suited for our motorcycle touring & camping as it runs well on gasoline which is never hard to find. It's less stinky starting up on white gas though so we run that if using it inside huts. It's only fault is that it is quite loud, especially at full power.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stove ever for backcountry cooking I'm so happy I bought this stove. We cook meals in the backcountry, usually with food we dehydrated ourselves. The temperature control on this stove is very precise, allowing for better simmering/boiling/frying/etc. than any other stove we've used. Because it can be cold in the morning in Michigan, liquid fuel is a far superior choice for backpacking here (in my opinion) and this stove has been great for us. We had an old MSR Simmerlite for many years. It served us well, but this is a huge upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove, works in most situations, loud. I love Dragonfly. I used to cook food for a week with a 22oz bottle of white gas. I highly recommend using the wind screen, if really helps to heat up the pot, conserve fuel, and get it to burn well in windy conditions. It's loud when it's on full power as other have mentioned, it sounds like a small plane, but no biggy, I just make my espresso away from the ones that want to sleep in. It can fold and stove in the MSR Classic pots, which make it compact-ish. It's legs unfortunately bends and flexes with heavier pots. So care must be exercised. It's been a great stove for over 10years, unfortunately the flexible legs finally snapped from flexing and taking much heat(it can burn as hot as red hot bunsen burners.) I've been wrapping cables to hold it together, and trying to figure out, how to get it fixed for over a year, but with little luck.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Chief Gear In view of a Adventurer Chief , this is the best stove to control and fine tune your cooking style, however the one Star is deducted because of the stove too noisy in the beautiful nature , and made me to purchased silencer on top of the stove, that will be good if MSR to make become standard equipment.
