Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I live in the U.P. Of Michigan and ice climb from November into May. Yep, that's the type of winter we have. Snot freezes in our nose and we love it! I usually snowshoe six miles in my boots to get to the ice and these boots are that comfortable, it is like walking with my slippers. Also they are the warmest on our balmy -30 degree days. The best thing I like about them is that the heel is nice and snug but I can still wiggle my toes, a very good fit for ice climbing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect boot for an Antarctic Summer I have been working in Antarctica for the past few months and these boots have been ideal. Warm enough to keep my feet from feeling the cold and solid enough to do a 4 week Search and Rescue training course without a single bruise or blister. They froze one night in my bivvy bag and I had some chilly feet. It was surprising how little time they took to warm up (around 10 minutes) in -15C with winds 45 knots. The edges are well balanced and I've been able to bang around some of the smaller ice cliffs without crampons or microspikes. ,,I've yet to try them out in winter, but in a few months, we'll see how they go on our mission to ice climb some local peaks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Mountaineering/Ice Climbing Boots I took these ice climbing and on hikes to break them in for Rainier. They fit my feet instantly and I stayed blister free, even during break-in periods! If you have "Sportiva feet," i.e. narrow and love their climbing shoes as much as I do, these'll fit like a glove. ,,,,My feet stayed warm and dry with one pair of liners + one pair of mountaineering socks on Rainier at 10ºF and I get cold quickly. My feed got pretty hot on the spring/summer break in hikes, which is to be expected.,,,,I had trouble with a bruised big toe after it bashed into the front of the boot the entire way down Rainier. But with a bit of tightening, maybe a thicker sock, I'd have been fine. Bottom line, they're awesome!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot - Comfortable on all terrain I bought this mountaineering boot because I already own a pair of La Sportiva Trango and I am extremly satisfied with the fit of the Trango. Now, I needed boots which are more appropriate for cold weather and using crampons for an extended period of time. My first impression after receiving the boots was how comfortable they felt right away. I then wore them on a climbing trip to the Andes were I climbed several peaks between 5000m and 6000m range with climbing times between 7 and 10 hours. All I can say is that the boots are awesome. I had no break-in time, yet I never developed any blisters and the lacing of the shoe is genius as it allows you to independently tie the lower part and the up

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
