Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot for 3 season alpine routes I have have hiked well over a 100 miles in these boots, nearly all off trail. I have hiked trails like Cactus to Clouds in Palm Springs (broke them in on that hike) and climbed up to 5.7 in these in the High Sierras including routes on Mount Darwin, Mt. Humphrey's, Mt. Birch and Lone Pine Peak. On low grade routes, I rarely have to switch into my rock climbing shoes. These are light, sticky on class 3, 4 and 5.easy route. They excel on slabs and class 3 boulder scrambling.,,,,As for durability, I think they do very well. I did replace the original laces. They were abraded through at the toe pretty quickly. Not a big deal and expected. ,,,,The laces going all the way to the toe make for a very nice fit. You can snug them down tight with thin socks for climbing feel and loosen them up and throw on some thick Smartwool socks if its cold out. ,,,,They are waterproof, so your feet will sweat in them. But nothing unusual for a GTX lined boot.,, ,,I will buy another pair when these are toast.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A great concept but poor choice in materials ruins it. I liked the way these fit but they aren't the boot I was looking for. The sole is a little too soft for the rocky terrain I expected to use them in, you feel every pebble. The biggest problem I had was that the material at the top wore through after only 25 miles, all on trail. I have owned several pairs of LaSportiva boots and climbing shoes and have always had good experiences no matter what I put them through but they missed the mark on this one. I hope they try again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great shoe from La Sportiva I've owned 5 different pairs of La Sportiva footwear over the years, and never been dissapointed. These are by far the best hiking boots I've bought and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair when these wear out if I've got the cash. They are a little spendy at full price, but you get what you pay for. Very comfortable, lightweight, sticky soles that grip everything (especially in the wet), and seemingly great build quality so far. The to-the-toe lacing system is awesome because it provides a really secure fit without being uncomfortably tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! Purchased these for an eventual trip to the top of Long's Peak. Broke them in on a 3 mile and 8 mile hike through the Indian Peaks in CO with only a couple small blisters on my heels. I also bought insoles for them as I saw several people suggest that the heels are hard and provide little shock support. I did buy up a half-size to account for the insoles and thicker socks, and other reviewers suggested it. Worked out perfect! Besides the arch causing me some minor pain (my feet are abnormally flat, so this is my fault, not the boot's). I was very happy with the ability to adjust the tightness of the toe area. Pretty good breathability too. The waterproofing worked as well, but I was only able to submerge the boots up a 2" depth without getting wet, haven't tested it beyond that yet. Grip still worked great while wet, no slips or rolled ankles. Overall, I'm very happy with these things!

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
