TRU-FIT SMART HARNESS IS GREATWe had an old model of this harness for our Golden Retriever, and decided to get a newer model. The new model has several improvements to the old one. There is a snap under the chest strap (which can be used to shorten or lengthen the harness) that keeps the harness from slipping when putting it on the dog. They have added a clip in the front of the harness which can be used to preventing pulling during walks. This harness is made with quality construction. I would highly recommend it. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that I would like to see it in more than one color.

DO NOT BUY THIS HARNESS!!!I just ordered and received two of these harnesse in the mail. I adjusted the harness on both my dogs, then left out for a walk. Before I could make it out of the garage, my 60lb. Boxer pulled away and broke the D ring in front. I had to chase her down before she got away. The loop of fabric that holds the D ring came unattached and appears to be barely sown/glued to the harness itself. After further examination, I was able to pull the seatbelt like strap completely off the fron of the harnes with minimal effort. Due to the shotty craftsmanship, I almost lost my dog!

Great as car restraint , Not very good for walkingI adopted a Border Collie in Minnesota and had to bring him back to Chicago. I purchased several Kurgo products including; door protectors, back seat bridge and cover and the Harness. I am very happy with all of the products However while the harness worked great for car restraint. I have not been able to adjust it to work for walking from the front attachment. Either it's to tight or when loosened the front pulls to the side. I have even measured with a tape measure. I feel that there are to many adjustments required. In the process of doing research for a replacement

Lighter than the former modelI purchased two of these items, it is lighter than the former model that used metal for connections and clips. My medium dog is carrying less of a load right now. I purchased these (2 of them) to make it easy on myself to change them out and clean them often without having to worry about having only one and it not be dry enough to put back on the dog to use. He wears it constantly to get put on a line to go outside since he is a hunter (part beagle) and could wiggle out of collars or break them or open them up and get away from us for an uninhibited roam of the town. Now he is safe and is easier to walk and put outside without strain on his neck from just a collar.

Well made but not great for walkingI purchased this harness for my boxer/Ridgeback mix. I ordered the large since Max is 75 lbs. It fit great around the neck but not his chest. I called and the rep said she would send an extension to make the chest bigger. Since the XL would fit his chest but not his neck. I received an entire new harness, in XL not just the strap. I added the extension and it does now fit. However, it is the clumsiest harness I have ever used to walk Max. It continues to move constantly, the buckle on the front of the harness (which is supposed to be for walking), is the oddest thing I ever saw. It is most uncomfortable and Max hates it. I used the buckle on the top of the harness which is no better. It keeps moving. I would not recommend this harness to anyone.

Great Harness!I bought this harness for our Chocolate Lab puppy when we took him home at 8 weeks. He is 14 weeks now and I'm coming back to Kurgo to buy the next size up. It is very well made. He's been everywhere with it, with no signs of wear. It has also run through the washer a couple times and has come out fine. I love that it comes with an attachment for the car as well. I prefer to use the back loop instead of the front, but for those people that do prefer the front, have no worries, I don't see how it could tear off. Thanks for a great product at a great price!

Safety first! Best car harness out there.A friend's experience of being rear ended with her dog in the back seat (and then on the dashboard, and then on the floor) made me think. My dogs have good car manners and stay in their "spot" in the back, but even the best training won't keep your dog safe in an accident. I tried several different types of dog seat belts before settling on the Kurgo Tru-Fit Smart Harness. Here's what makes it different from the others I tried.
1. Safety tested and secure. It's not just a walking harness with a seat belt clip. This thing is extremely well made, with quality hardware and a comfortable, padded chest panel designed to restrain a dog without undue stress on the body. There are two options for placing the chest strap where it won't rub under their arms.
2. Easy to get on and off – so it's no hassle to actually USE it. It has multiple adjustment points so you can size it to fit your dog just right, and then just slip it over her head and fasten the buckles.
3. Doubles as a regular walking harness. You can attach the leash at the back or the chest, which is great if your dog pulls while walking. Some of the other car harnesses I looked at had heavy, complicated hardware or overlapping panels to secure the harness on the dog or into the car. Fine for sitting in the car, maybe, but awkward anywhere else. The Kurgo harness is so comfortable and versatile we use it as our go-to harness even when we're not going to be in the car.
In summary - if you have a dog, you need this harness!
