Rated 5 out of 5 by from I might be a convert I have to admit that so far, I am loving these shoes. I am a lightweight runner training for my first half marathon. I have tried many different shoes and I just haven't found the 'one'. I decided to give the Clifton's a try, although I was a bit worried as I have some ankle weakness and wasn't sure how I would handle both the height and cushioning. Well, I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. This is a cushioned shoe for sure but not squishy - you are almost propelled forward. It is fast and responsive and I don't feel like I am fighting against the shoe. Not bad on the uphill but fabulous on down. Excited to put some real distance on them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shoes I've had in decades Fifth pair of Hokas I've owned. 2x Stinsons, 2x Bondis, and these. They make me want to run whenever I strap them on (they have regular laces, which is a very minor detractor for me). I am using them for road races and on speed days. The rest of the time I wear my Stinsons for training. The Stinsons are excellent, but the Cliftons are exceptional. I feel and run faster in them. They are so light, yet well cushioned like the other Hokas. The last shoe I had that felt anything like these were Nike Elites in the late '70s, but I was in my early 20s then and a tad less concerned about knee and joint pain. Plus, they are cheaper than the other models. A relative term for sure when discussing Hokas but true nonetheless. Love 'em!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't get any better I can't say anything bad about these. I have tried 2 other style Hokas returning both. I have neuropathy in both feet and a pinched nerve in one. Putting these on I knew I had the perfect shoe. They are comfortable and support both ankle, feet and are great on the knees. I wear a size 9 in these as I do in any another running shoes. Street shoe I take a 8.5. Toe box is not narrow or wide. I tried the conquest and a 9 was too big and too much room in the toe box as was the Stinson Tarmac. Running on them was great on my knees and feet. I didn't seem to have the ball pain and knee pain that I have started to develop over the last year from all my other shoes. Addias, Nike, Brookes, Asics even Norton. These are now my favorite and so much so I got to pairs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love/Hate This is my 2nd pair of Cliftons. I bought the first pair in women's 10. After the first couple weeks I noticed pain in toes (especially the big ones) and thought perhaps I had gotten them too small. I then took advantage of having big feet and since the men have better colors, ordered a men's 9/12 . No change, it seems to me some toes don't like all that cushion. It's a shame because other than that the Clifton offers a great ride. I am sure it allowed me to train after an Injury plagued summer. I was hoping this would be my marathon shoe but the toe pain has become unbearable. I would still recommend these as all toes are not created equal. Please make better colors for women.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These shoes fly!!! I've been waiting for this shoe for 7 months now! So far it has lived up to the hype. Out of the box I took it on a 15 miler with 4x 700ft hill repeats and they flew! Wore them in a 50k that next weekend on the dirt and they were awesome! The next week a 12 mile tempo run, this week 200's on the track. I friggin love this shoe! I have about 90 miles on them right now so not sure how they'll hold up but they are my go to racing shoe for anything from 5k-50 miles. Probably even be a great 100 mile shoe as long as there's no mud. I don't think they'd be great in mud

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastically smooth I now have 6 runs in this shoe and absolutely love it. The shoe is lightweight and feels great for slower and faster tempo runs. The drop seems to work very well for me. Cushioning is very soft and has a nice rebound. Unlike my Stinsons, the Clifton responds much better when the pace picks up. I find the fit very good for my feet which are a fairly normal width. The upper material is very lightweight and does not seem to bunch when the laces are tight. The tongue has no padding and is very comfortable. The heel area is lightly padded. I haven't had them for too long yet so can't comment on the wear but so far seem to be wearing well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT Shoes...terrible insoles I am a 195 lb runner who has always struggled with hip pain when running 15+ miles. These shoes have completely eliminated this pain. They are very comfortable, lightweight and have plenty of cushion to support my almost 200 pounds. Now the negative...I had to replace the insoles immediately after purchasing which made my $130 shoes closer to $180. The insoles that came with the shoes had no support and caused my foot to slip and shift while running causing the balls of my feet to be tender and soft even on very short runs. I replaced the insoles (which I have never done before with any other shoe) and now I think these shoes are AWESOME but the insoles definitely need to be addressed in the next version of this shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant. Just, brilliant. So far, 75.25 miles in, and these are still as amazing as the day I took them out of the box. These hooves covers are breathtaking. I used to have occasional days where I wouldn't want to log miles, but since purchasing the Cliftons, I literally try to convince myself one more mile, forget what the marathon training program says, just one more mile! I've ran through Nikes, Saucony Guide 6s, Altra "The One", Altra Torins, but none come close to the comparison of the Clifton. If I could have a fleet of Cliftons for the rest of my running career, there wouldn't be a single tear shed from this guy. You have outdone yourself with the Clifton, Hoka. I thank you.
