Rated 3 out of 5 by from Durability Concerns First pair of Hokas after nearly 700 miles in Altras. Loved the feel out of the box but felt narrow. After 80 plus miles, they are breaking down rapidly. Small tears on both near the pinky & the tread is starting to crumble. Durabilty concerns make me hesitate to buy the ATR3.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissatisfied with quality in the rocky desert. Wore them on three different trail runs, 4 miles, 9 miles and an 18 miler. All in rocky Southern Nevada desert areas. Dry, cold conditions. On the final run, the 18 miler, the desert landscape had already begun to work loose the tread to the point that small rocks were stuck underneath. With a few small areas to scramble over, there was nearly no traction with this shoe which resulted in decreased comfort on the technical trail. Returning the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this shoe!!!! Love these shoes, mostly rock, roots and technical trails here in Hawaii. The have a great grip on all surfaces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my first pair, so I had to purchase a backup pair. Purchased my first pair as they were compared to the Clifton... and they did not disappoint. Did not need any break-in time. Ran my first 50-k mountain/trail ultra with them, and had no issues, and no blisters!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Trail Runner I have ran in these about 200 mixed trail miles in dry conditions. I had to go up a half size just to accommodate the narrow toe box. In doing so the shoe became wider so I had to tighten the shoe just to increase side/lateral support. I never did feel true lateral support. These shoes do not cling to rocks too well on very aggressive trails but the rocker design works well for moderate terrain, rolling, and groomed mountain trails. They feel comfortable with orthotics and the cushion is sufficient. I would wear these for a 50-miler on rolling/moderate trails due to their good comfort. I did not like the rounded shoestrings it comes with, always kept coming untied. Why not use flat shoestrings or better yet bring back the Huaka!! That was the best trail shoe ever! I will say I had great customer service from Hoka.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent shoe Used this shoe for the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim run. These were not only excellent trail shoes but had no foot pain or aches that I experienced previously on my long training runs. These are my first pair of Hoka shoes and these made all the difference. I was initially resistant to Hokas but I'm now drinking the Kool Aid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Narrow, but Great I ran a few average trails around Provo, Utah and they held up fine. Then I went hiking with them for a mile in loose terrain and the shoes shredded like paper. I think these are great shoes when used on the road, single track(non-technical) and for long distances. Don't take them on any kind of traverse, because even though they will perform well, they will deteriorate VERY quickly and you will start losing lugs. All that being said, I see a use for these shoes and that's why I am buying them again. They are also definitely narrower than I'm used to(I'm a frequent Altra user).
