The Nallo GT 3 Person Tent by Hilleberg. In essence, the Nallo and its extended vestibule version, the Nallo GT, are the ultralight versions of the Nammatj and Nammatj GT. They excel in any situation where the lightest possible tent is needed, but where true all season strength and reliability might be required. Both tents' tunnel tent design and ultra light weight make them ideal for mobile adventures, where you move your tent every day. And, because of their exceptional weight to space ratio, they are perfect for long distance endeavors where light weight is a greater priority than absolute strength. Certainly, they are suitable for exposed and/or above treeline use in all seasons, but because they are built using Hilleberg's ultralight Kerlon 1200, 9 mm poles, and lighter gauge zippers, they do not have the same strength as their Nammatj cousins. That said, Kerlon 1200, with its 12 kilo tear strength, is an order of magnitude stronger even than most so-called "expedition grade" fabrics, and so is easily robust enough to handle adverse situations well.

The Nallo and Nallo GT's salient characteristic may be their ultra light weight, but both are still fully able to handle all season, all weather adventures. This explains why these tents are the first choice of those needing the lightest weight tents that still offer all-season, all weather functionality. This includes wilderness photographers, professional climbers, hunters, and other adventurers who have to carry large amounts of gear, as well as long distance hikers, who want to get more out of carrying less. Globe-trotting trekkers often carry the Nallo, as it ensures they will have private accommodations wherever they go, and solo hikers love having near-palatial space without any real weight penalty. Families with younger children and those who hike with their dogs love the extra space - and, of course, the ultra light weight - the Nallo GT has to offer.

FEATURES of the Hilleberg Nallo GT 3 Person Tent

  • Outer tent fabric is Kerlon 1200 and the poles are 9mm, which make tent very lightweight and give stability to tent
  • Outer tent walls can be extended to the ground and mesh areas are backed with adjustable fabric panels
  • Tunel construction provides maximum space to weight ratio which is an ideal choice for mobile journeys
  • Ideal for 3 person use, but is comfortable for 2 people with gear
  • Separable inner and outer tent for simultaneous pitching
  • Tent requires four pegs for pitching, making tent quick and remarkably stable
  • Single entrance tent with single vestibule configuration allows for easy entrance and storage space
  • Rear outer wall provides better venting options
  • Add on the optional footprint that will cover the entire tent and vestibule and can be left attached to the tent even when pitching
  • Inner tent is replaceable by a mesh inner tent
  • The outer or inner tents can be used separately by simply moving the detachable pole holder from the outer to inner tent
  • Designed for short and long trips in less harsh environments and conditions in all seasons like the forests in winter and summer
  • Great for withstanding heavy storms, but the lighter weight is not ideal on super harsh extended trips
  • Capable of withstanding heavy storm conditions, and the lighter weight is why some experienced hikers take this along instead of a more durable, heavier tent
  • Outer tent goes all the way to the ground for awesome all weather protection
  • Designed using lighter weight zippers and inner tent and floor fabrics to keep the weight at a minimum

Hilleberg Red Label Tents

Hilleberg Red Label Tents
Red Label Tents are built for both short and longer trips in generally less demanding conditions in all seasons, such as less exposed mountain terrain, forests in both winter and summer, and the like, but where you still may encounter severe situations. Their emphasis on lighter weight makes them less than ideal for harsh environments and extended adventures in demanding conditions. They are, however, quite capable of withstanding heavy storm conditions. Experienced users sometimes choose these tents for more demanding adventures because they knowingly accept the trade off of strength for lighter weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try the rest but prepare to be disappointed. This is as good as it gets! When I discovered winter climbing and camping I had to abandon my three-season tent for a more rugged four-season. I tried several friends' tents but was BLOWN AWAY with the Hilleberg Kaitum 3-person tent. Pitched near the summit of Mt. Humboldt at around 14,000 feet in a 40 mph wind. Piece of cake (nearly at least, compared to the other tents I had tried). With the guy lines attached as recommended with snow bollards, the tent was stable and secure through the blustery night. I opted for the lighter really-tough fabric to save $$ and weight (ounces). Try the other brands if you wish, but be warned....when you try the Hilleberg, you'll be sold!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent quality This tent almost has it all. I have owned it for about two years and I have put it through some really rough ones. It is extremely durable and stands still in very strong winds. You never have to worry about leakage when it rains because it simply does not let any water through whatsoever. ,,There is one thing you should remember though; since the nallo 3gt only has one real ventilation hatch and the other one only is a small opening at the floor; the ventilation is not as good as the one you get in the Keron for example. Therefore, try and open up as many openings as possible or you will get kind of a lot of condensation unless you are in a very windy and cold area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid, waterproof, lightweight tent with a really extended vestibule From the weight and the size of the box i received from moosejaw, i couldn't even think that this was my tent. When i opened the box, than the bag the first thing i noticed is how that Kerlon Fabric is tough. The whole thing is very light.I really like how easy it is to get this tent up in 5 minutes. If it's raining, you can put only the outside shell ( 3 minutes) to work in a dry place for the rest. The 9mm aluminium Poles are pre-curved and extremely solid. The bath tube inner tent is also waterproof and there is a great vent system that keeps the inne tent fabric to get all wet.In one word, i paid full price for this tent and think it's worth every penny i spent for it!,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Monster Tent I've had this for a couple of years and it's an awesome tent. I have a range of tents (Copper Spur UL3, Terra Nova Solar Photon 1) and this is by far the best made of the 3. It's held up in insane winds and rain, and it is a very comfortable place to sit out conditions like that. The GT vestibule is huge and the footprint covers it nicely. My favorite feature though is how the tent pitches. You can store it pretty much totally assembled (footprint, outer, inner), tie it down, put the poles in, stake it out, done. In bad conditions this is great, no exposing the inside to the rain etc. Haven't tested it in heavy snowfall but I suspect loading on the middle could be problematic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stood the test in some very bad weather I have loved this tent since the day I got it. I was a little intimidated by it, and its price tag for quite a long time. I did not want to do anything to harm my investment so I was overly careful with it. That ended this past weekend when we did Leave No Trace training in St. Joseph MO. The wind was gusting up to 35 MPH and there were strong thunderstorms in the area. I pitched the tent in the dark and learned in the morning that I had done so in a low spot. Between the wind and the driving rain I was safe and dry in my Nallo 3 GT despite sleeping right in the middle of 6 foot wide, inch deep puddle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Madly, it's on sale! On a recent ascent to the Roraima Tepuy in Venezuela we had the shittiest time with a shitty tent and we watched in envy how some French tourists put together this bomb shelter in what seemed to be milliseconds and in heavily windy conditions. Hilleberg's reputation is unmatched so if you are looking for a tent that can do everything and is lighter than most light tents then you really don't have many options. ,,,,It all comes down to price and when Moosejaw lived up to it's name and madly put the Nallo GT3 on sale I just had to buy it. Likewise, you would be mad not to jump on this deal FAST!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best 4 season tent out their This is the best thing ever. There is enough room in the vesty for a discoball or your packs or a farting tent mate. I always bring this tent during the winter or in rainy places. The vestibule is perfect for cooking in. The sleeping space itself is pretty small, but the cestibule makes up for it.,,,,It is also extremely lightweight for it's size and really well designed. It takes some used to setting up, but once you get it, it is fine. It does better in the snow because it isn't a free standing tent.,,,,,,I love this tent and wouldn't trade it for the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best light weight tent so far Hilleberg really makes excellent tents; I bought it because of its good reputation and it really has lived up to it. The cloth is so durable and you never will have to worry about getting wet. With the shoeprint under the tent, your set for all conditions and weathers. Its also very lightweight, and not bulky at all compared to my previous tents. If you do alot of hiking in conditions where you might get alot of rain, this is simply the best choice. Its well worth the money.
