The Hilleberg Akto 1 Person Tent is a solo tent for all season protection on backpacking trips. The tent weighs in at two pounds and thirteen ounces while packing down super small, fitting in most side pockets on backpacks. Boasting an inner tent area of 18.3 feet squared, you'll have enough elbow room for sitting and sleeping with a vestibule for gear. Enjoy a spacious rest after trekking 15 plus miles a day. The name "Akto" fits your solo adventures, meaning "alone" in the Sami language. Don't worry, the beauty of nature and that cute mountain lion will be with you too.

FEATURES of the Hilleberg Akto 1 Person Tent

  • The outer tent fabric is Kerlon 1200 and the poles are 9mm, which makes for a super lightweight and stable tent
  • Offers a nice amount of room for being such a light tent, and can be used all seasons
  • Designed for short and long trips in less harsh environments and conditions in all seasons like the forests in winter and summer
  • Great for withstanding heavy storms, but the lighter weight is not ideal on super harsh extended trips
  • Capable of withstanding heavy storm conditions, and the lighter weight is why some experienced hikers take this along instead of a more durable, heavier tent
  • Outer tent goes all the way to the ground for awesome all weather protection
  • Designed using lighter weight zippers and inner tent and floor fabrics to keep the weight at a minimum
  • The mesh areas are backed with adjustable fabric panels, so when the outer tent walls extend all the way to the ground the mesh moves with it freely
  • The tunnel construction makes taking along on hiking trips super easy without breaking your back, thanks to its maximum space to weight ratio
  • Comfortably fits one person and their gear without making it seem cramped
  • The inner and outer tent is connected but has the ability to be separated for simultaneous pitching
  • Features guy lines, integrated door and vents, fiberglass rods, zipper flaps, and a pocket to stay organized. Amazing.
  • To do a basic pitching, you really only need the four pegs in the head and foot end guy lines plus the single-opening continuous pole sleeve and tensioner system. Super stable and easy.
  • Single entrance tent with single vestibule configuration allows for easy entrance and storage space
  • Add on the optional footprint (not included) that will cover the entire tent and vestibule and can be left attached to the tent even when pitching. Footprints add extra durability, protection from the elements, and longevity to your tent's life, so for sure think about adding it to your order.
  • For added customization and versatility, the inner tent can be replaced with a Mesh Inner tent. Mesh Inner tent is not included, please don't hate us.
  • Experience total flexibility with the outer and inner tents' capability of being used separately
  • Pitching the inner tent on its own will require the purchasing of optional pole holders as they are not included. Sorry I bragged about them earlier.
  • Tent comes with all the pegs, poles, and lines you need to get setup, but grabbing a few extras wouldn’t be a bad thing
  • Hilleberg offers a variety of accessories to go along with this tent, which allow for additional stability, flexibility, and durability when you will need it most
  • Please note on the colors that the actual tent color can vary from the one pictured due to the natural variations of fabric dyes

Hilleberg Red Label Tents

Hilleberg Red Label Tents
Red Label Tents are built for both short and longer trips in generally less demanding conditions in all seasons, such as less exposed mountain terrain, forests in both winter and summer, and the like, but where you still may encounter severe situations. Their emphasis on lighter weight makes them less than ideal for harsh environments and extended adventures in demanding conditions. They are, however, quite capable of withstanding heavy storm conditions. Experienced users sometimes choose these tents for more demanding adventures because they knowingly accept the trade off of strength for lighter weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good light weight choice - BUT... I like this tent - but recognize that it is a light weight packing tent - it conserves weight by having one pole over the top and some small stiffeners at the head and foot. To pitch this tent takes 8 well placed and driven stakes - these anchor the floor at the 4 corners, the pole (on each side) and 2 on each end that anchor the stiffeners(via guide ropes) to lift and anchor the ends. When you have a surface that accepts the stakes this is comfortable and very well thought out design - if you tent where this is not possible this is not going to be a happy choice for you. Once pitched it has good ventilation, a vestibule that is well thought out and is of quality workmanship and materials. It is a great shelter per pound of weight. If I know I and on inhospitable surfaces I bring my "Big Agnes's" self standing one man tent - hauling the extra weight for sure footed set up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for snow. Period. Overall, the Akto is a great tent. Typical, awesome Hilleberg build quality and attention to detail. This shelter offers a single user enough space to exist and little more; which is the point of buying a tent like this in the first place. I see a lot of people looking for that "ultimate 1-man shelter" either for hunting, camping, or emergency use. People looking at the Akto have to pay attention to a couple points: first, it's not a freestanding design. It requires connection to the ground in order to set up. That's not a dealkiller but it does have to factor in for people who want it to go "anywhere". Second, the length of the tent is a fairly flattened out shape which makes snowfall pull the fabric down very quickly. There just aren't enough angles for snow to slide off. Within 2-3" of snowfall and you'll likely be ready to get out and shake it off. With heavy lake effect snow, I have had the 9mm poles break entirely. My outfitter suggested that I can special order a single 10mm pole section OR it's possible to run a pair of 9mm sections through the center tube. I tried both options and found that it's little more than a stop-gap. The poles may stay intact but the rest of the shelter is still going to collapse inward. Bottom line: If you're fine with needing the ground in order to pitch and you aren't concerned about snowfall, there are few tents out there that are better at this weight. If you want to go Hilleberg and you have to contend with snowfall, look hard at the "Soulo" model which is also freestanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes me want to camp I secretly have urged to just sleep in the backyard in this tent. Lightweight (for its strength) roomy for 1 and easy to pitch. Strongly reccommend getting the footprint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Color variation to extreme I am a big fan of Hilleberg. This is not my first Hilleberg tent. However, it is the first one I have ordered from an independent retailer and not directly from Hilleberg. I got a little discount but now I know why. The Hilleberg site says you should expect some variation in color shades. I got a black tent that is supposed to be green. Would be great for Doomsday but I think there is a good reason companies don't sell black tents. Should be quite the heat seeker:( Hilleberg must send the off colors to other companies. I am very disappointed and may consider a different brand and company in the future. Wish I could add some pictures. The pics tell a good story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT!!! Just took this tent out this past weekend for the first time and it is AWESOME. I was a little worried I would feel cramped but it was very roomy (I am 6ft, 1in 210lbs my mom says I am just big boned). The ventilation options are numerous and the vestibule very big. I am definitely going to get the inner mesh for summer trips!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best 1 person 4 season tent on the market The akto is by far the best choice for lightweight 4 season adventures and can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. This tent is made from extremely durable "kerlon 1200" which has a tear strength of 26.5lbs. The roof is 36inches high which gives you quite a bit of headroom for a 4 season tent that only weighs 3lbs 12oz (packed). I have used this tent backpacking/car camping and have never been disappointed. It's also one of the most breathable tents I've ever owned which allows it to perform flawlessly in wet conditions. After 100+ nights of use (non consecutive) it shows absolutely no signs of wear. You cant go wrong with a Hillberg.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very reliable shelter, in any weather Bought the tent in 2011, in red (more sexy, easier to find). Quality workmanship. Despite its size it is roomy inside, and I (189 cm) can sit up inside the tent. There is also a good space for the bags in the vestibule. The tent is very stable, and cabn handle any weather.,,,,You have to be aware of condensation in colder weather. But if you open the zippers at the foot and head end, pluss at the top of the inner and outer tent door there are no problems. Be sure to have enough airflow.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bigger is better Bought this tent for a high country elk hunt in colorado. At 10,700ft is sept, it had terrible condensation, sleeping bag foot end would get wet, inner tent has massive droop. Nothing worse than trying to wriggle out of a tiny tent in the morning. Vestibule is small, can not seem to get the pitch right (tension wise). It did hold up to rain and wind, if I would have known better from the start I would have spent the extra 300 bucks for a nallo. Don't get me wrong, hille's are awesome tents, just got a sour taste using this one in the back country in conditions that were fair.
