Rated 5 out of 5 by from My FAVORITE piece of camping equipment I do a lot of kayak camping so while being slightly aware of weight and bulk it's not that big of an issue. This cot can be set up in any location without worries of that missed rock or stick under your tent. You will sleep excellent. If you want to really go luxurious then add a thermarest and that will not only make it super comfortable but it will also insulate you in cold weather. In hot weather camping I use a twin fitted and reg sheet. I love this cot !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Comfortable Cons: Price (But you won't find a more comfortable cot.) Pros: It sets up easily, The top stretches taught and stays that way, The separately available legs bring it up to a comfortable height for sitting and getting in and out of (about 16"). Without them it is about 6" high. It easily fits back in the carrying bag. (The 16 legs will fit in the bag also, albeit tightly.) Perfect for larger folks at 29.5" by 80" (my 30" by 80" inflatable pad on top makes sleeping as comfortable as my sleep number bed) I let a friend who is 6'-4" use it and he didn't want to give it back. I'm spent 69 years on earth and the Cot Max allows me to continue enjoying the outdoors. It's not for backpacking (to heavy and bulky) but car camping, boat camping, or having a spare bed for friends or relatives at home or cabin it's perfect. I take it to fishing resorts because I believe its more comfortable than their beds. Helinox developed the most unique and easy set up. The parts of the four legs/spreaders are held together by bungie cord and slip together into the plastic holders with ease. The clamping system that stretches the top is an engineering marvel in its simplicity and ease. (Compared to the old army cots, it is a joy to behold). The legs that raise it to 16" slip into place with a slight snap. Just enough to keep them there if you want to move the cot around. They have plastic feet to prevent scratching. Plus, removal is easy done with a slight tug. I have set mine up many times and it takes about 5 minutes. The same for disassembly. Another great product from Helinox. PS: I have 4 Sunset Chairs, 1 Chair Two Rocker, 3 regular size High Cots, 1 Cot Max, & 1 Cot Max Convertible. Yes I'm a Helinox fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large and comfy I upgraded from the Thermarest ultralight cot. This cot is faster to assemble, feels like better material, keeps me higher off the ground, and is MUCH more comfortable. I sleep on my side, and with the Thermarest cot, my hips and shoulder were still barely touching the ground. Also, the Thermarest is so narrow that my arms would be in strange positions, causing them to be pinched and I would wake up with numb limbs. This cot is wider, and I can drape my arms off the side without getting pinched. This cot obviously takes up more space than the Thermarest and is almost twice as expensive, but it depends on your priorities. I saw a great deal on Moosejaw for about $70 off the normal price, so I jumped on it. I love it and I just wish I hadn't wasted $200 on the originial thermarest, just bit the bullet back then. Spend the money if you want high quality and comfort. You won't regret this purchase after your first night of sleep.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than the Rest The Helinox Cot Max has brought me a new appreciation for tent camping. Before buying I went to a couple of sporting good stores to try out various models from many manufacturers. I also watched a bunch of YouTube videos. Did my due diligence. Purchased the Cot Max. Quite comfortable, easier to set up and take down than I thought it'd be, and my butt (I'm 6', 225 pounds) never hits the tent floor. Way better than ANY of the competitors' low cots I tried. Did I mention WAY? It is durable and light weight. The frame is a LOT sturdier than the competitions' models (again, I'm speaking in terms of low backpacking style cots. The only con I cn come up with is the higher price, but, dangit, I'm worth it! Aren't YOU? Sure you can buy cheaper- but that's just what you will be getting. Spend a little more up front and be a whole lot happier an more comfortible in the long run. Camp safely, my friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever... I am a big guy, 6'10" 250#. Experience rafter who spends 40+ nights under the stars. Have had many cots over the years. This cot is quick to set up once you do it a few times, and same for breakdown. Quiet!! No squeaks when rolling from side to side. Makes sleeping so much better. No rocks, no uneven ground. Simple pad to insulate and I am good to go down to 20°.

is this the convertible model, which allows for legs to be added?

Asked by: old man camper
HIya, thanks for your question! Yes, this converts into a high cot with purchase of cot leg converter kit. Hope this helps!

The name, description, and photos of the item indicate that this is v2 of the Max Cot (the one that CAN'T be converted into a high cot). Alice's answer above though says that it can be. Is this def v3 (the one where the frame will accept the legs)?

Asked by: brbeard
Hey there, BrBeard! I pulled one up from our warehouse and this cot is indeed the V3. The one in my hot little hands features hubs that accept an optional extension leg kit!
